February 10, 200916 yr So I downloaded all (and I mean all) the pics using GetRight last night, and boy was I disappointed when scrolling through them in IrfanView when I reached the end of the directory and nothing popped out for me. I agree with a lot of what Memento Mori said. I don't follow fashion or modelling so my impression of these models are almost completely based on how they look in the magazine. I also heavily base my impression on facial features, which is why some models, like Cintia Dicker or Marisa Miller, will never do it for me. Then again, the issue is big enough that I can always skip them, so I base my evaluation on the issue's highlights, not my average assessment of the pics. Last year my highlights were Brooklyn and Jessica Gomes, and both have become quite more forgettable this year. Also, I totally agree that you can't really see a model's personality through her portfolio. But she can certainly sell an expression, and none of the models are doing that except Daniella. I think it's a fashion photography problem though: read this article about the Heeb Refaeli cover and you'll see that awesome cover was the brainchild of a non-fashion mind. BTW, for some bizarre reason SI uploaded a number of pics without posting them. Most of them aren't really interesting but they did slash off 6 decent Brooklyn body-painting shots for some reason. I think these are it, though I'm not sure... ...
February 10, 200916 yr Author Tori Praver, 21, was discovered at 11 while shopping at Costco with her mother. Tori is an avid surfer, born in San Diego, Calif., and raised in Maui, Hawaii. This is Tori's third Swimsuit appearance. Location: Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain
February 10, 200916 yr I dunno, I think a lot of that is confirmation bias. I might get impressions of personality from pictures and videos, but I just feel like I can't know anything about someone's personality without meeting them. It's not confirmation bias. I'm not saying we KNOW any of these models, but I'm saying we got " impressions of personality from pictures", as you finely put it, and that's all you need for a picture to be fantastic. The newer SI girls have no visible personality to them in their pictures, that's my opinion ^...you sound like the people who boycotted when cheryl tiegs got the cover cause it was to "risque". Was this towards my comment on the personality thing or towards people opinions on Bar? Sorry, I'm confused!
February 10, 200916 yr I see Cintia's goofy personality in some of her pics, she had a lot of fun with this
February 10, 200916 yr Author Bar Refaeli, 23, began modeling as an eight-month-old in her native Israel. Location: Canouan Island, The Grenadines

February 10, 200916 yr Author Bodypainting Brooklyn Decker Julie Henderson Irina Shayk What in the hell are wrong with her breast! < Boobs shouldn't taper when they're that size unless this thing I'd like to call gravity is taking over. OH NO, not Irina's as they seem to want to defy the laws of gravity < < < < They remind me of utters. :yuckky: Jessica White
February 10, 200916 yr sweetheart don't sigh, I am not attacking you nor freaking out in anyway. I was simply curious
February 10, 200916 yr May I ask what is wrong with Cintia's face? sigh, I knew this would happen. It's not her freckles, but it just doesn't appeal to me. If I had to pick out something, I don't like the shape of her eyes or how they fit in with the rest of her face. Since we're nitpicking, anyway.
February 10, 200916 yr when i'm feeling freak-nasty i pull at my bottoms too!... ...maybe i'm just a cock tease. i loved irina this year!! bar looked like sex jessica white...well obviously stunning i think cintia looks amazing and sexy face and body and i want red hair. demaris is regal and beautiful always loved ann v lucia is one of my favs in the issue, but i think she needs to grow into modeling a bit more...she will just get better and better and eventually get a cover i bet. esti is so cute i like her a lot I didn't know kim was canadian....but her hair is just so bad i cant see past that colour Hilary looked good but not as amazing as i pictured. I would of liked to see melissa baker instead of haro of course anna b and jeisa and raica and jessica vandersteen should still be there marissa is great model also. ...For me the rest are just ok...and some are looking a little hefty. but over all i am much more pleased this year.
February 10, 200916 yr I have to agree that this year's mag is not a really big standout. As far as Bar's cover, I knew she would get it and I'm happy for her. I sincerely am. (Y) I just don't understand what is so special about that particular shot. She has several shots that would've been better, IMHO. She's a really pretty girl. To me, the spider web suit would have been different and catchy.I am really over models doing the "hooking their thumbs" in their clothes thing. There's not a thing that is remotely natural about that. Who walks around like that? The other thing is that "real" boobs on a girl who is fairly young, do NOT come way out on the sides and they sure don't stay the same size as a girl loses weight. It's virtually against nature. The boobs have to get smaller, too. They only come out on the sides instead of straight ahead when you get older or have implants. Now, if a girl wants implants, that's fine with me, doesn't impact me at all. But, for Pete's sake, don't pretend like they are "real". Okay, now that is all that I have negative to say. If you have implants, just say so and stop the silly pretense. They are not real, period. So what? Who cares? Just admit it. Also, certain tops are better on girls than the triangle. I looked at everyone's videos and I think the videos are all much better than the stills in most cases. They give more into the insight of each girl's personalities except for those girls that are rookies and really don't know what to do. I loved most of the videos. Maybe I'm being prejudiced (and I'm trying not to be) but I thought Tori's videos were amazing in both showing her body, amazing legs and her beautiful face and especially her eyes and hair. I think in the videos that she was incredible. I know of at least one person who will go bananas with me saying that but that's okay. It's just my opinion. In the end, I think the issue is better than the last two years but still isn't like "the good ol' days". I just WISH for the "good ol' days". I honestly would have loved it if Gisele had done the cover. She would never have done a ho-hum shot. I'd just like opinions on something. Is it the photographers or the stylists who are making it mundane? Some of the girls aren't right for the mag or not ready for it....too young. But, most of them are beautiful girls. What's wrong? i would of loved to see an adri and gisele double cover.

(Y) I just don't understand what is so special about that particular shot. She has several shots that would've been better, IMHO. She's a really pretty girl. To me, the spider web suit would have been different and catchy. Or, doing something with a prop....maybe even the material she worked with in a couple of shots. I am really sooooo over models doing the "hooking their thumbs" in their clothes thing, whether it is a dress or a swimsuit. There's not a thing that is remotely natural about that. February 10, 200916 yr Memento, I feel bad that you felt pressured into answering what's probably my question. The eyes are part of it (they look listless). I'm also not a fan of sharp cheeks, and the lips are unnaturally shaped and plump. The freckles don't thrill me but I don't think that's the big issue. But like I said, it's a big magazine, so I'm not going to dwell on who I don't like. And are they having models share pieces now? You'd think, given how much fashion designers make, that they'd be able to find more ways to cover a girl's naughty parts.
