Thor Ragnarok :bounce:

Gerald's Game

Actually a pretty decent film, which is hard to expect from a Stephen King adaptation.  While most of the movie is essentially a woman handcuffed to a bed trying to escape, there's much more depth to it than that basic premise.  Carla Gugino does a fantastic job of carrying the film, as a less capable actress would have had the entire film come crashing down around her.  Here's hoping that Netflix gets into the business of adapting further King material.

The Dark Tower

What a mess of a film.  Whoever thought it to be a good idea to adapt a seven-novel epic into a roughly 90-minute film was severely misguided.  The worlds in which the film takes place simply do not have enough time to be set up here, nor do the main characters, as we're just supposed to believe that Roland and The Man in Black have been battling for a very long time with only a very awkward intro to help establish that for us.

Elba is fine as Roland and I'd pay to watch him attempt the role again, as I would with McConaughey and The Man in Black role, but it would need to be done by an entirely new creative team behind the camera.  The film is poor from the jump and just keeps getting worse as things go.  For something that took seven novels to complete, everything just seems to fall into place far too easily and far too quickly.

Murder on the Orient Express - I'm not sure it's worth seeing if you know the story, but if you never read the book, it may be worth considering.

Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark and Pan's Labyrinth.

I wasn't to impressed with pan's labyrinth. I was under the impression that it was a horror movie but it isn't. The story was boring and the ending was a big eye roll. I guess it's more of a kids movie or something.

Lady Bird - I imagine this movie will be mentioned a lot during award season. Saoirse (as always) and Laurie are great in the movie.
