Ewan Mcgregor - Ewan Mcgregor Still Angry With Danny Boyle Over The Beach Snub

Ewan Mcgregor refuses to end his decade-long feud with filmmaker Danny Boyle because he still feels sore about the way he was axed from The Beach in favour of Leonardo DiCaprio.

The pair formed a close friendship after collaborating on 1996 movie Trainspotting, and Boyle promised MCGregor the lead role in 2000 blockbuster The Beach - but handed the part to DiCaprio instead.

MCGregor heaped praise on Boyle's 2009 movie Slumdog Millionaire, sparking speculation actor and director would heal their rift - but the Scottish star insists he's still not speaking to the moviemaker.

He tells Britain's The Times magazine, "You just don't treat your friends like that. They absolutely made me think that I was playing the character in The Beach and we talked about (filming) dates and moving dates and so on, and all the while they were keeping me there just in case Leonardo pulled out - which is really nasty.

"And then afterwards, I just didn't hear from Danny for years. When he told me, he was very conflicted and he was very upset, and I spent a lot of time making him feel better and saying, 'No, it's alright, I understand'. And when I went home, I thought 'F**k!That doesn't feel very nice.' And my wife was furious.

You're batting a 1,000 today with these rare finds. Thanks :)

 welcome as always!

thanks, I am Eden, for that article! Thanks, kat, for Ewan Mcgregor info and tweet!

strange,he still feels upset about that! cuz the movie is nothing special IMHO and as I remember it didn't have critic success

Ewan is upset about that? Come on,that's a big bullshit of him!

Taking the opportunity, does anyone here liked the movie The Beach?

It's not one of his best movies in my opinion, but I enjoyed it. I even think that critics were pretty tough at the time, couldnt understand why,I think they were expecting for a new Titanic. <_<

I am Eden

Thanks for bio article :)

No matter how many times I've watched the bow of the ship scene it never fails to captivate.

Kat

Thanks for latest tweet. I'm so glad to hear that Leo is back in L.A. :)

Also, thanks , for Ewan/Beach article. To me it sounds like writer asked Ewan about the incident long ago involving Boyle and him, and he responded truthfully as to how he felt at time, but , in reality it is something that both men have long put aside.

I really don't get why the critics were so negative about the beach.

I thought it was one of the movies in which Leo acted very 'natural', you know?

In like SI and Inception he does that thing in which he frowns his eyebrows a lot, -I'm not calling it a negative thing, don't get upset -

But in the beach it's more 'natural', like how a real person in such a situation would react.

I though the Beach was an amazing film, the actors were great, and it had a refreshing storyline

Well it also had lots of Leo without a shirt on   , that might be the best thing, but let's not focus on that

DiCaprio Keeps Dumping Blake Lively

DiCaprio‘s romance with Blake Lively is already on the rocks.

The Inception star who had countless break and make up moments with exes Giselle Bundchen and Bar Refaeli appears to be doing the same with his current squeeze.

“They’ve only been together a few weeks but Leo has already broken up with Blake twice only to get back with her days later,” says a source close to the actor.

“Leo doesn’t like to be tied down. He is nervous about commitment and this is just how he deals with it. Blake finds it very unsettling but she loves Leo and is doing her best to reassure him that she doesn’t want to take things too far too fast.”

Previous reports claimed the couple had come to blows because Blake doesn’t like Leo’s wild ways.

“Leo is back in the States, and he’s going to go back to his old habits,” a source told America’s In Touch Weekly magazine.

According to the publication, Leo’s habits include late nights out hitting clubs and parties.

“Blake doesn’t like to go out,” the insider says. “She’s never been into the party scene. She doesn’t like going out, dancing and loud music. She’d rather stay home.

“Blake can get really insecure out in public. It’s one of the main reasons she hates going out. Leo, on the other hand, loves to be out at night, and tends to hit clubs and parties almost every night.

“Blake and [her ex-boyfriend] Penn Badgely stayed in all the time. They watched movies and hung out in their pajamas all the time. Leo is definitely not going to be that guy.”

The annoying thing with such a high-profile relationship is that we never know what is true.

I personally don't thing Leo would break up with Bar if he didn't think his relationship with Blake would last, so...

Yeah I don't understand why the critics are so hard on the Beach either. Its not Leos best film, but I still found it to be good.

Isn't that funny how even leos worst films aren't even half-bad? :p

And then theres ShowbizSpy........ Same source who claimed Leo proposed to Bar like 50 times, and how he was converting, like 50 times!! I would be a little more inclined to believe the article if it didn't come from ShowbizSpy. But yeah silly BS rumors to disregard. I don't think Leo would break up and have gotten back together with Blake already twice! LOL sometimes the press......

I think The Beach is quite good movie! good acting and great places!

but at this period, somehow critics were trying to show Leo as a bad boy and not very good actor!there were many trashy rumors around him and they wanted to break this hero status,if you remember Woody Allen's Celebrity, everyone said that Leo played his own on the movie.they were trying to break his star status and so on.

so I guess The Beach's bad critics also were the part of this bad PR.

thanks wijn for news! but I don't believe them :p

Yeah! When i saw this article i just thought..."I've seen it already somewhere!" LOL

Tks Wijn for the article! I think Leo is always so natural in his movies, that's why he's a great actor for me,we can see everything goin' on in his eyes! He expresses it in his eyes, amazing!
