Another Islander game pix of Leo from side

Looking at your siggi, I think you can appreciate what ran across the when they showed Leo at tonight's game :p

Yeah it's neat to see. He was famously known to not have won an Oscar, now he's famously known to have won. Which is definitely better. I guess if he had never won, they would have just simply listed him as an actor on this tv highlight :p He had a great career without an Oscar, and technically he didn't need one.... but stuff like this just shows how much status and prestige winning an Oscar has on the general public. So I'm glad he won

Tks for video of Leo at game as the announcer says being very Howard Hughes :p

Yay! I'm happy he won!! :D All this time I was expecting to hear the results tonight April 10th. So it must have been filmed last night and then airing on TV tonight.

Oh and I read the show is filmed in Burbank, California.    I read something on this thread that had me thinking it was an NY thing.

I don't care about watching this show, but If Leo gives a video acceptance speech I'll watch it when it gets put on the Internet. :)

Well, I just saw MTV movie awards and they didn't showed this category at all... Best Male Performance. Unless, for a few seconds I lost this part, but I don't think so...  :idk:

Anyway, I'm glad to know that Leo won!   And my guess is that MTV decided they wouldn't even present this category since the winner was not there...   :idk: Matt Damon was not there as well, and I'm not sure about Michael B.Jordan, but I think he wasn't there too.

The last two times Leo won that MTV award for Titanic and The Aviator, he wasn't  there either..... but both times they showed the category because Leo gave a taped acceptance speech. Maybe this time they didn't bother with it all because maybe Leo didn't provide a taped acceptance speech this time? Still weird if they had the best female performance category announced (although I believe Charlize was there) then nothing on best male... If I was a random person watching  I'd be confused. But for editing purposes I can see why they'd scrap it.  I was hoping to see a taped speech, and see him actually holding the award, like in the past, but this appears not to be the case.

Anyways, him winning further shows his popularity for this role because this award show is voted on by the general public and it continued his award winning streak for this performance.

Yeah, I think this is probably what happened, fash. I think Leo didn't taped an acceptance speech and that's probably why they didn't even showed the nominees. Yes, Charlize Theron was there, received her award and gave a very long speech.

Like I said above, unless I lost something... but I didn't saw this category announced.

I was looking at all the winners of this specific category throughout the shows existence, best male performance, and to me it looks like Leo has the most with 3 awards. Again I'm just referring to this specific category, because there are lots of other categories. (But best performance is the best one in my eyes) so I thought that was kinda neat, especially considering the fact that his overall image as a serious actor doesn't really fit the stereotypical "MTV image"  :) And most of the time the Oscar winner doesn't end up  winning the MTV award for the same performance, so I guess one could say it's a best of both worlds scenario for Leo.

Oh such annoying joke.   :ermm:  :cain: I have missed this rap part.

If I was him, I wouldn't bother to go as well, people are always making fun of him at awards, damn!   :glare:  :banghead:

Thanks Barbie for the MTV updates. :)

I don't find it funny, but I actually don't think this is that bad. :p The fact that they'd even do this bit shows how popular the film and Leo are because they know the general audience will understand the reference. And it shows the film has reached pop culture status, while still being a movie and performance that has been taken serious (hence the Oscar nomination, wins etc) Then maybe studios will consider making movies like this more often, seeing how well it performed on both spectrums  :)

Although, if Leo had lost all the major awards like, Oscar, BAFTA, GG etc and the film and performance wasn't taken seriously ... I probably would have been annoyed at the joke. :p But since he has  won in a big way, it is Leo who gets the last laugh in my eyes :p

But yeah, I couldn't envision Leo going to this. Just doesn't fit him.

Well, IDK, I just don't think it was funny at all... maybe I'm just tired of this bear jokes.   :ermm:

I don't remember if this pic from the game was posted, so.

From Variety Leo won  International Actor of the Year at this weekend's Irish Film Awards :clap:

LONDON — Lenny Abrahamson’s “Room,” for which lead actress Brie Larson won an Oscar, was the big winner at the Irish Film and Television Academy Awards Sunday.

The film, produced by Ireland’s Element Pictures, won seven awards, including film, director for Abrahamson, and script for Emma Donoghue. Larson won the award for international actress, while its other prizes were for editing, original music and sound.

“Brooklyn” earned awards for lead actress Saoirse Ronan and supporting actress Jane Brennan. Michael Fassbender picked up the award for lead actor for “Steve Jobs,” and the supporting actor honor went to Jack Reynor for “Sing Street.” Leonardo DiCaprio was named best international actor for “The Revenant,” and “Spotlight” was voted top international film.

I guess whoever was taking the pix below of Leo walking in NY yesterday wasn't able to get a front view of him :p

As to MTV /movie rap/Leo /bear bit :

Below are comments from MTV producers as   how they decided to include that bit in the segment where the hosts rap about this year's past movies

As you can see their 'reason'  agrees with Fash's  take on the bit

“It’s one of those things that felt organic,” Patterson said. “We’re just kind of following culture, and one of the big moments in movies that stood out this year was all about Leo and that bear, so our hosts are going for it.”

As to MTV wrong listing of winners, I think, it just shows that others don't fact check for themselves they just repost what they read elsewhere , as Variety made the mistake in the first place, and then others like CBS/ US ,etc just copied their list rather than going to the most reliable site to access the

list of winners = MTV :p
