Lkjh Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 Nice article about the young Gatsby http://breathlesspics.blogspot.com/2012/03...-alike.html?m=1 Leonardo DiCaprio's teen look-alike How 'Gatsby' Found Its Young Leo, An Aussie actor wins a global search for the role of a younger DiCaprio in "The Great Gatsby." Given Jay's storied history with Daisy, finding an actor to play the teenage version of Leonardo DiCaprio's leading man in Baz Luhrmann's upcoming Great Gatsby adaptation was of utmost importance. After a global search, Australian actor Callan McAuliffe (who you may remember from I Am Number Four and Flipped) won the highly coveted part. But that's when the real work began. "I don't actually look much like Leo," the dark hair, brown eyed actor tells TheInsider.com. "So they gave me blue contact lenses, dyed my hair blonde and put it up in this coif – it's interesting how much that altered my face. It really changed the way I looked. They really put a lot of work in to making a strong resemblance." Once the physical transformation was complete, Callan got to work on synching up his version of Jay with Leonardo's take. "I'm not playing Young Leo, I'm playing Young Jay Gatsby, but it was important to get a sense of what he was doing with the character. So Baz took me into the editing booth and I watched some of his scenes. Everyone really seemed to like my take on the character, so we just blended the two together." And audiences will get to see the fruits of their joint labor when The Great Gatsby opens on December 25 in 3D -- a choice that initially threw Callan for a loop too. "You don't see many movies that aren't big action things doing 3D, but when we went to the first cast read-through, Baz sat us down, gave everybody 3D glasses, wheeled out this enormous TV and showed us a few sequences they'd put together. It's not like they're trying too hard. Nothing is being thrown at the camera so it flies at the audience. It's more about this fantastic color pallate – it's all bright blues and greens. The 3D just brings everything to life in a much richer way. Quote
BarbieErin Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 thanks for the article wijn. How I wish to see some new Gatsby stills. Quote
Lkjh Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 'Titanic' 3D India Release Will Include Previously Censored Kate Winslet Painting SceneWhen Titanic first released here in 1997, India's Censor Board ordered cuts in the famous painting scene where Leonardo DiCaprio (Jack Dawson) sketches Kate Winslet (Rose DeWitt Bukater) wearing just an emerald necklace. The upcoming April 5 3D re-release of the James Cameron-directed film has now been passed without any cuts – according to the film's India distributors Fox Star Studios - receiving a clear U/A (or Parental Guidance) censor rating similar to the MPAA's PG-13 rating.Titanic 3D will open here in English and dubbed versions in Hindi, Tamil and Telegu with 250 prints in 3D and 50 prints in 2D.Last week, to promote the film's release, Titanic producer Jon Landau visited India and brought along one of the film's Oscar trophies. SicK As mY SecReTs Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 I'm not sure if that was posted before The Foot Shooting Party, a very short scene, but it's better than nothing Quote
katchitup Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 Thanks girls for the tweets and articles Sick: THanks for the footshooting party video......it seems so odd and weird.....does anyone know if this was a serious type of film, or just for fun?? Quote
SicK As mY SecReTs Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 I guess it was kinda serious, not just for fun imho wonder why it's never seen he day light as I know it's just 27-minute-long movie check that review out from IMDb As the director of this film my opinion is of course, biased but I must say, "The Foot Shooting Party" is a relevant film for our times. Its message is delivered beautifully by all of the cast most particularly Leonardo DiCaprio and Michael Rapaport. Five young men in a rock 'n roll band on the verge of success, get together to shoot lead singer/songwriter Bud (DiCaprio) in the foot so he won't have to go off to war. Gathered around a bottle of Tequilla, a pistol, and a target painted on Bud's foot--with red fingernail polish, so he won't blow his foot off--the evening degenerates into a passionate debate over what is right, what our obligations are to self and country, and whether anything any one person does can make a difference. The suspense--will he shoot himself in the foot or not, and the poignancy of this baby faced boy (DiCaprio turned 19 on the set) confronting such a serious decision is visceral. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0109820/reviews Quote
katchitup Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 ^Hmmm I guess it was kinda/sorta serious. Nice the review person from IMDB wrote a nice review Quote
oxford25 Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 Barbie Glad you liked the Golden Hat picture, it is from the actual book, I bought it last night at mall. There are tons of stars' pix in the book many who Leo has worked with Cameron Diaz, Vera Farmiga, Tom Hanks, Ellen Page, Jude Law ,Marrion Cotillard, Michael Caine, Ken Watanabe, etc I don't know who took the pix of the various celebs, but only a few of the celeb pix have the clarity, focus, very distinctive closeup of the celeb's face like Leo's Infact some of the pix seem almost out focus or grainy. Leo's great pix combined with supporting a great cause , I think, makes the book well worth the price Wijn Thanks for articles about actor who plays younger Gatsby , as well as, Titanic article Sic Thanks for Foot Shooting Party vid and review Quote
Nanda23 Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 Thanks Princess by the tweet and the info on the dictionary. And I agree that Leo is much better now ... but, like Pami, I disagree with your comparison with Edward Cullen :x. Oh What? WHAT?? hit me! I already made the idea I have to be the "bad" of the group and it's how Leo would want to: Leo's bad girl Forever Well, when I look at Edward I want to vomit... when I look at Leo I want... . Thanks Princess by the tweet, Ox for the pix, Sick for the video and Wijn for the articles . Quote
katchitup Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 ^Actually don't know if I've ever seen that pic before. Thanks Quote

katchitup Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 When Leonardo DiCaprio read the script, he almost didn't sign on. "I think he sensed that Kate's character was the more interesting because she had the greater journey," Cameron says. "So I said, 'Now, look, you're the one who represents the kind of male icon women want, the kind of guy who listens and understands and sees who they are as a person. And that's going to be tricky, because you're not going to the drug addiction or the mental incapacitation in The Basketball Diaries or Gilbert Grape. You're going to have to stand there and still hold people's attention and have that focus; you'll have to learn that discipline.' And when he realized that it was going to be a challenge, he wanted to do it."http://www.elle.com/Pop-Culture/Movies-TV-...f-James-Cameron Quote
