Tomorrow 12/13 are the BFCA ( Broadcast Film Critics or Critics Choice Awards ). If I recall correctly, they normally announced during the day. While the

SAGS (Screen Actors Guild ) and GG (Golden Globes) normally announce very early in the morning.

The BFCA group select 6 choices for each group. So they will be announcing 6 actors.

So last year they announced 6 names which included Ryan Gosling, but when the SAGS announced ( who only select 5 ) Ryan got dropped, but Robert Duvall stayed, and by the time they got to Oscars both men had been dropped from the mix.

I assure you that you don't have anything to apologize for . It was only natural yesterday when various critic groups were announcing their choices , and Leo's name wasn't mentioned to become disheartened and feel that maybe things weren't going to turn out as we had hoped.

At this point we're all expecting nothing ,but at same time, hoping for the best !

Sending you a big group hug :grouphug::grouphug:

I just read at Variety twitter that supposedly the BFCA nods will happen at 6:00 am tomorrow. Though the person didn't state if that was East Coast or Pacific time.

Either way, we would know their choices before noon.

Leonardo DiCaprio

"1990's teen idol turned to serious actor and grossing star at the same moment. Before the premiere of "J.Edgar" Leonardo DiCaprio was interviewed by Alyona Doletskaya and Clint Eastwood. "

A Clint Eastwood film "J.Edgar" staring Leonardo DiCaprio premiered in the USA in November. Edgar Hoover, legendary boss of FBI-one of the most odious hero of America's past century. As and example, we can remind you Berya, Ejov and Andropov from our past (edit by me: heads of Russian KGB,KGB is something like FBI, the main police organization in Russia). In 1935 Hoover founded Federal Bureau of Investigation and was a head of it till his death in 1972. Edgar made this organization as the main fighter against the crime in US. He introduced the introduced a centralized database of fingerprints, that still exists. Hoover used his position to fight the "anti-American elements", he resorted blackmail few times more or less on all political persons. The fact, that Hoover was homosexual and was in connection with his assistant Clyde Tolson (Armie Hammer from "Social Network" plays his role in the film), got known only after his death. Scandals that have followed these revelations, forced FBI to make change in the charter, that the head of this organization can't take his post for more than ten years.

By Russian Interview magazine request, Clint Eastwood asked Leonardo DiCaprio, how does it feel to be in Edgar Hoover's skin.

Clint EASTWOOD's Interview

CLINT: So why did you agree me to play him ??? Because the character of Hoover, to say mildly is contradictory.

LEO: You know, Clint, I wanted to play a person who's life was covered with blackness and was secret because of his job and his post. I would not say that Hoover is unambiguously negative character. Yes he conducted his double life and did so many things for his country: he was a head of FBI almost for 40 years, and these were very hard years of America - Pearl harbor, World War II, spying, Vietnam war, Hoover took country responsibilities on his own in 1935 when, Great Depression was raging and he died when America's beyond recognition was changing.(edit by me: don't know if I translated it right  ). This person conveyed huge transformations during many decades. This is great role for any actor.

CLINT: And Edgar Hoover didn't only live with double life. He persecuted dissidents and engaged spies, maybe it was difficult to catch his positive trait ???

LEO: That was the most interesting! How did he reach the life he got ??? How did he dedicate his own to his work, fought against crime using criminal methods ? Yes, he can't be called an ascetic, but he was obsessed with his mission for 24 hours in a day, was thankful that FBI became powerful machine in suppressing America's enemies. After his death, personal documents of Hoover were disappeared, and most of the facts we know about his weren't supported to be known for people.

CLINT: And what difficulties you encountered during getting ready for this role ??? For me it seemed, you had no difficulties anymore (laughs). Just want to hear it from you.

LEO: Well, first of all, I'm barely offered the role of 50 years old man, who's full of villainies (laughs). So the most difficult was physical change. And as you remember, we had no time to gain weight before started making the movie, So, they put me a make-up...

CLINT: ...that used to take 6 hours of a day!

LEO: Yeah, besides this I studied his walk, gesticulations. I went to Hoover's native town, just to know what kind of childhood he had, also had talks with his remained real life FBI colleagues.

CLINT: Leo, now I'm listening to you and realized how far fascinated you are with your job, I can't even imagined who else you can be ??? Definitely, the movie - that's yours! Let's talk about that you got great collection of old movie posters. have you already got the unique poster of "Casablanca" (1942) ???

LEO: No, not yet. But I got original posters of "Battleship Potemkin" (1925) and Dziga Vertov's "Man with a Movie Camera" (1929). Russian posters from 1920's are the best. Actually I'm mad about Russian constructionism. During that period very talented people used to make original stuffs. I also got many posters of American, German, Japanese films. The most important is that, they were masterpieces. Actually this is the price of them. Which normal person would like to collect posters, when they got no idea, that after many years their price will be very high ???

CLINT: Now I exactly know what kind of present will make you happy at birthday.

LEO: Clint, that "Casablanca" poster is so rare to find, that it doesn't cost this efforts for present (laughs).

CLINT: What's up on "Great Gatsby" set in Australia ???

LEO: Everything's great! Baz Luhrmann is the first person, who uses 3D Technic there, but not for special effects, or for tricks and action. He made it for the audience to make them feel the inside of theatrical production. "Great Gatsby" make you feel as the part of the movie. When you're watching that movie for one character, you also see another one with him in the background, and you get double pleasure at the same time, and you realize you've never seen anything like that in 2D movies.

CLINT: And when will it be possible to watch the movie ???

LEO: About after a year, at the end of 2012.

CLINT: Waiting for it.

"I'm barely offered the roles of 50 years old man, who's full of villainies"

Interview of Alena DOLETSKAYA

We were throwing the names of famous celebrities - the ones that got different image. That's how we named Leonardo DiCaprio - an actor with exorbitant fees, really persistent to the press and he never talks to unknowns. Here's our prehistory: last hot summer, we met and spent some days with mutual friends, criticized their rules and praised of others, decided the destiny of the world, danced - relaxed and so on.

In the Autumn of this year he first played in Clint Eastwood's film, one of the most arguable role. Leo freely agreed us about the shooting and talking of different themes for Russian Interview magazine's first issue. He only once appeared on the cover of American Interview magazine in 1994 - 20 years old handsome teen with shaggy hair, holding red lips written on it "Kiss Me", he couldn't had even imagined that he then would be Romeo, then Jack - hero from "Titanic" and would become the heartthrob of millions of girls - from the country Pensacola to the city Khanty- Mansiysk.

DiCaprio had a photo shoot for us in Los Angeles and then flew to Sidney for his upcoming film "The Great Gatsby". We had no time so took an interview via cell phone and Skype. And then it began.

There's only one Leo in the world, there's no need of last-name, cuz everyone knows who he is and what he is doing so great. The only one appropriate time for talk was 11:00 with Sidney time, 4 pm with Los Angeles time and 4 am with Moscow time. Process is like that: I called in America and then Leo's agents connected to him in Australia . After 14-hour working day I slept, cuz had to wake up at 3 am to get ready to sit at computer at 4 am. Dialed secret numbers and waiting for answer, Frank Sinatra songs were changing each other in my ear while waiting - well, it's America, there wouldn't be Stas Mihailova's songs (edit by me: he's Russian musician.). Second song of Frank was interrupted by agent's voice: "Sorry, Alena, Leo is delayed, call back in 20 minutes, Okey ???" No answer. Waiting for call back and I hear: "Sorry, but Leo is at set, let's call back tomorrow ??? I will try to connect you with him, till he goes on set. During the day, we'll confirm - at 3am with Moscow time or at 5am." I said OK imprudently and went to bed for 3 hours till starting my work-day.

This was going on is second day: in the late afternoon agent told me: "OK, let it be 3am (and when I almost say "Yes") or 5am ???" At midnight I'm calling again, listening to Sinatra, but now,he sings five songs to me and then got new email: "Sorry, let's call again after an hour, let it be 6 am with Moscow time." I said OK and after and hour and a half voice of agent's letter wakes me up: "It's 6:40 am with Moscow time, you didn't call, so we closed the connection." if I tell you, that I had a cold sweat, even this wouldn't describe what I felt.

Because of Russian American friendship, we decided that my interview time would be from Saturday to Sunday (edit by me: I guess she meant the midnight here, when it's not Saturday and in Sunday midnight :p ). Hollywood's popular happy ending came at 4:20 am and I heard:

LEO: Hello, sorry for all these, I wanted to say "Good Morning", but it's midnight in your place!

ALYONA (with real pleasure): That's OK! thanks for your time to talk with me. And before I forget: thanks a lot for inviting me to watch the movie "Collapse" with Michael Ruppert last summer. Then I made half - Moscow to watch it.

LEO: thank you for watching, you know, what's good ??? If in the past they had fear of planet future, last couple of years it's clear that many serious changes were there, protest and activity in the internet change the world. Hundreds of people join social networks and they turn to be serious power. And the meeting Occupy Wall Street was created by Middle East's regime. I think after few years, governments and corporations will be in front of this fact: they will have to refuse nature resources, like oil.

ALYONA: That's right! And Ruppert, who was accused talking about against American economic was a dreamer.

LEO: Yeah, world overturns, but all the retrogrades live in the past. And what did happen in Detroit ??? When car factories were closed, hundreds of people were left without job, they divided their gardens in back-yards and started living as their ancestors used to live 50 years ago, when there weren't any oil anymore. This kind of things happen more and more.

ALYONA: Leo, do you have a garden ???

LEO: Yes, I really do. But because of my busy job, I ca't spend a lot of time there.

ALYONA: Do you know, that after your visit in Russia, Vladimir Putin (edit by me: premiere minister of Russia, ex president too) called you "The Real Man", do you understand what does it men ???

LEO: I know if Russians think you are "The Real Man", it's a serious compliment. My grandmother was Russian - Smirnova (edit by me: it's a last name) - for me she was an embodiment of inner strength and integrity. She came through war and emigration. Grandmother, grandfather and all the relatives came through real Russian hardness and they weren't broken down anymore. I can't comment if I's "The Real Man" (laughs), but if I am, that's because of them. The more people I meet in my life, The more I realize, that my Russian grandmother and grandfather were the most "Real" persons. Even in the period, they had no money and were in despair, they had the faith of themselves, that I barely see in the people, with whom I live.

"The more people I meet in my life, The more I realize, that my Russian grandmother and grandfather were the most "Real" persons"

ALYONA: Leo, in 1998 you founded environmental protection the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, you help to Council for Nature Conservation, Global Green USA, National Geographic Kids and you send a lot of money to WWF. Last year attended "Tiger Forum" in St. Petersburg. Why are you so interested in nature and animals ???

LEO: I was fascinated about it in my childhood: when I was dreaming to save whales and Amazon's rain forests. If I weren't an actor, I'd have probably been a biologist or would have worked in something related to environmental protection and of course I'd have been paid less than in movie industry (laughs). Of course I'd fully dedicated myself to work for the protection of rare species in WWF. Do you know that Amur tigers are only 3200 left in the whole world ??? They are hunting on them, not just because of skin - they also eat them! There's Japanese delicious called as Tiger In The Wine. Word protection of nature is the case for me and I don't feel sorry to devote my strength and free time to it. This activity gave me the chance ti see stunning places: I've been in Nepal and in Butan. From those places i saw everything in different side.

ALYONA: Leo, you became star at early age. What pluses and minuses does it have to be in the center of press and fans ???

LEO: There are more minuses than pluses! I know many colleague actors of mine, who got famous at early age and the star status and parties substituted their work. It's not imperceptible why this happens - at this moment you will become party-animal or drug user and then you just no longer have role offers.

ALYONA: In one of you old movies, "This Boy's Life" you played a stepson of Robert DeNiro. It wast'n bad to play your very first role in the begining of the career with this level actor, wasn't it ???

LEO: I was just 16 and I can't describe with words, how working with Robert changed my attitude with acting. before that I only was playing in TV series. I'm thankful for him and his way of acting, that I had a chance to have a touch with the tradition of past times' great actors. He said to me: "You have to try to do everything, that is worthwhile for you profession". I was very lucky.

ALYONA: I'm sure you've been asked this question several times, but I'll repeat: why do you work with Martin Scorsese so often ??? You already have four movies with him.

LEO: Yeah, and this question again (laughs). After I worked with DeNiro, I watched all his films made by Scorsese. And among them "Taxi Driver" is one of my favorites. I was in admiration that the director was so obsessed on one actor. Even my father, who's old fa of Scorsese, told me: "If it does make a sense, to make several movies with one director, that one is only Scorsese". My dream came true, when about after ten years, he offered me to play in "gangs Of New-York".

ALYONA: That's really great luck to find someone adherent in your profession.

LEO: And also the one, whom, all actors are dreaming to work with!

ALYONA: And how all these happened ???

LEO: My manager Rick Yor presented me with Marty. When I heard he had a script about XIX century's street fights of New-York for 20 years, I told Rick: "Tell Marty that I'm ready for everything to work with him." Marty agreed and then we went to Italy for nine months in Chinechita studio, where Fellini made his greatest movies. I was so lucky to play in "Gangs Of New-York", cuz I had a chance to work with one of the best actors of today's Hollywood - Daniel Day Lewis. Everytime I work with Scorsese, I learn many new things and am ready to work with him for any movie.

ALYONA: Le, you're in this industry for already 20 years, what advice you would give to beginner actors ???

LEO: Oh, maybe I would advice them to take their profession as serious as the can. They should make their own acting technic! To have a method of Strasberg and Stanislavski. When I get the role, I feel like to be a detective. You should have a motivation for all quotes of your character, get all the story with his ears (edit by me: he means to think like his character), When you're not emotionally involved in this process, you won't get anything as a result. And of course, if you don't live in Los Angeles, you'd better come here. My family was poor but my mom has always had money to drive me to all the castings after school. I would never ever had become an actor, if audition wasn't near to my house.

ALYONA: I know, you're collecting paintings. You have at least one work of Warhol, don't you ???

LEO: I'm not gonna talk with you, what I got and what I don't, OK ???

ALYONA: You decide.

LEO: All I can say is that, I love and study art. I'm mad about Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat and generally period of 70's ending and begining of 80's. Greatness of Warhol, in my opinion, is that he picked up and then changed himself everything right. He always changes people's view of art. If they asked me to choose two geniouses of XX century, I'd choose Picasso and Warhol.

ALYONA: Last year, I saw that you're cool DJ, you made us dance until morning! What's your favorite song ???

LEO: Wait, I'll think.... Favorite songs are millions of. But if you would ask me about favorite piano composition I'd answer without thinking- Scott Joplin's "The Entertainer", it's with me all the time.

ALYONA: Do you play on the piano ???

LEO: No. Well I tried it in childhood, but I so used to hate it. Just don't get on with each other.

ALYONA: Me too.

LEO: You know, there're too many rules.
