About the now infamous quote from Armie's wife... I didn't comment on it yesterday, because I didn't know how I felt. My first reaction was "Well that's tacky." But that was quickly followed by "Ahhh sharing a bath with Leo! That is SO sexy!" But after seeing all the stupid reports that have come from that one quote, I'll go with my first reaction. Whatever happened was between Leo and her roommate. It was not something for her to share, especially not in a magazine. If she wants to get attention and impress the reporter so bad, let her talk about her own sex life.

(But I still can't get the picture of Leo in a tub out of my head. )

Star basks in new light across the harbour

FOR more than a decade, it has sat on the edge of Pyrmont as Star City Casino. Today, after an $850 million renovation, it is The Star - a great glass-fronted gambling, entertainment and dining palace ringed by palm trees.

After all that time looking towards the fish markets, Sydney's only casino has been turned around finally to face the harbour - the same harbour from which, last night, 250 guests arrived by yacht and followed a long orange carpet to what is now the front door.

Leonardo DiCaprio was there. So was Russell Crowe. Olivia Newton-John later entertained guests - as Diana Ross and Tom Jones did when the casino last opened in 1995. There was a laser show and a party six months in the planning. Eventually, the refurbished casino will have a 171-room five-star hotel, entertainment rooms, private gaming salons, celebrity-chef restaurants and retail outlets.

OF all the celebrities to turn up at the re-launch of The Star last night, Leonardo DiCaprio was a surprise but significant last-minute add to the guest list.

Hollywood's highest-earning actor made a secret entrance towards the end of event about 10pm and spent time chatting with his acting cohort Russell Crowe in the private dining room of Black by Ezard.

Wearing jeans, T-shirt, black leather jacket and the baseball cap he has been wearing whenever he goes out in Sydney, DiCaprio drank water as he socialised.

He spoke at length with Eloise Pratt, daughter of late tycoon Richard. "He's an incredibly charismatic man and I liken him to a young Laurence Olivier," Ms Pratt said.

When approached by The Daily Telegraph, DiCaprio apologised and said he was not commenting.

He also spent time speaking to Crowe's wife Danielle Spencer, music guru Molly Meldrum and X Factor judge Ronan Keating.

Sources said the invitation came from Echo Entertainment Group CEO Larry Mullins, who also offered him use of The Star's private jet.

The relaunch of the casino formerly known as Star City also attracted a slew of other celebrities including a super slim Ricki-Lee Coulter and Kate Ritchie.

Olivia Newton-John, meanwhile, told Confidential she will fly to Melbourne today to accept a $1 million donation for her Cancer and Wellness Centre.

"Isn't that fantastic?," she whispered. "I'm thrilled and it's great that I was in town to do it."

THE Star is born. Olivia Newton-John and Russell Crowe unveiled Sydney's $870 million casino refurbishment amid fireworks, world-class food and opulence last night.

ONJ, who flew in from the US for the event, anointed herself a casino aficionado and backed the relaunched Star.

"I've performed in them all over the world for a very long time so I definitely know the good from the bad," she said.

"I feel like I'm in Vegas in the good way. I don't like to gamble but I'm willing to put a bet on this place."

Crowe said the relaunch - an interior and exterior overhaul to transform the state's only casino from a souped-up RSL to an international entertainment mecca - was a "great" thing for Sydney.

Vintage Dom Perignon champagne flowed all night and the 250 VIP guests sat down for a six-course meal at the two new harbour-facing restaurants, Black by Ezard and Balla.

Casino owner Echo Entertainment CEO Larry Mullen said it had been a long 2 1/2 years during the refurbishment. "It's not every day you get to play with $870 million and this is what it buys you," he said.
