@SympathysSilhouette As usual you didn't read my posts or change the subject... I said Hollywood, influencers and celebs.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi
It's not about Luke getting back. It's about repairing the retconning that Rian did. That's why Jon Favreau did it. That's why ppl loved it.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi
Well, that's your opinion, man. I think Rian Johnson is arrogant, self-important and not very bright. And of course he's an admirer of the Woke cult (which is why he got the job)

This girl?? Well beauty is in the eye of the beholder... IMHO she's way below average (and we're on BZ, we have standards) (maybe some people like her because she's a member of the woke cult)

a) Being thin and being muscular are two very different things. Being thin is way easier. The level of effort and consistency to attain Zac Efron's body shape are enormous (even with steroids). b) I can argue for a long time with very good arguments (that I'm not sure you'll read), so here's an answer with images: How many magazines have promoted fat men compared to women?

Interesting that the main female character in Indiana Jones 5 is not very attractive....

^ I wonder how things will evolve in the next 20 years. I'm pretty sure things are unsustainable the way they are.

Men in Hollywood and male influencers have to suffer way more than their female counterparts. Most female celebs now have the shield of "body positivity" as soon as the get famous. However, "body positivity" is not for men, no single "dad bods" or our of shape men were promoted by journalists. This ideology is done for women. If you're an average men, the "system" doesn't respect you. For men, it's survival of the fittest... But women don't have these constraints, life is way sweeter in that respect. Note that it wasn't like that 30 years ago. Indiana Jones was fit, but not super fit or muscular, though he was still a male ideal, while female sex symbols like Sharon Stone had to be in perfect shape.

General Celebrity Gossip
This guy is extremely talented at marketing. Nobody ever believed that he was natty. But as soon as it's obvious/public, he makes a very thoughtful statement, with apologies, but not shameful ones. He stays proud, still promotes his diet and manages to pull a story out of his ass, ahem I mean, his (very muscular) glutes. He also says that doing roids under supervision of a clinician was better... which makes me wonder if his next move will be to promote "Liver king roid therapies"...

And Kathleen Kennedy (whose objective is to deconstruct Star Wars) hated it, which seemed to have triggered a civil war within Lucasfilm.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi
Deconstructing Luke Skywalker had no sense in this movie. He's just the opposite of everything he is in the OT. That's deeply non credible and disrespectful to the IP (and George Lucas). (BTW, Jon Favreau understood that, which is why he rehabilitated Luke in the Mandalorian) Rian Johnson is a very poor director. The critics liked him because he said the right things to trigger their Pavlovian reflexes. But the audience generally disliked the movie.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi
I didn't talk about fan service. I said they should stop antagonizing the fans. There's a huge difference. The Force Awakens had lots of pseudo fan service and it was a poor movie (a bad remake of "A new hope"). TLJ was both a mediocre movie and its director insulted the fans. Not just because of his retconning and his inconsistent scenario, but also because he willingly antagonized the fanbase (on the internet, interviews, meeting...). He called them the usual names (-ist and -phobes) and said that there's no reasons to respect the canons of a franchise. That's deeply contrary to what a franchise is. You can innovate and "subvert ppl's expections", while at least respecting the few rules there's been in a given universe. Otherwise the suspension of disbelief can't work.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi
I agree That's what happens when the leader of the company (Kathleen Kennedy) is an amateur whose goal is more to deconstruct the fandom and impose her political themes, than actually producing good stories.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi
The Rise of Skywalker is a very mediocre movie, made by untalented people with lots of retconning and stupid plots. It's possibly the worst Star Wars movies. I don't deny that. But the problem with TLJ is that it's the starting point of Disney really insulting Star Wars' fans. Not just because they thought "subverting our expectations" was a mark of talent" (which it's not). Not just because they started to infect our IP (not theirs, ours, the fans') with woke trash. No, no. It's mostly because they made a policy to antagonize fans, mock them, don't reply to their questions, negate everything they say. They literally started to instil the message that being fan of an IP is somehow "dangerous". IMO, that's unforgivable. Mediocrity is one thing, but willingly trashing your audience is another.

I have zero hopes for this movie. Yeah, the trailer is good. And member berries are always nice. But it's Disney. This company is disingenuous, woke af and untalented.
