Friends, it is a beautiful day (albeit one slightly tainted by other events, see paragraph 2). To overcome a difficult start to the season in such comprehensive fashion is unbelievable; the grit of these players has been just phenomenal. Klopp is king and then some, the team he has assembled, the belief he gives everyone, its been ridiculous. Every player has worked so hard. The Champions League exit was embarrassing but it pales into significance on a day like today. Back to back champions, its an achievement that can never be overstated. Look where we've been and look where we're going, its a dream. Hummels for President! Kagawa for Emperor! Perisic for Mayor! Meanwhile, here on Earth, Villa are just the worst. Just terrible. Its so bad. Its been so bad for ages now. I've had nothing to say about it because words are futile when you're as incapable as we are. It saddens me. Maybe we'll beat Bolton on Tuesday and stay up. Maybe we won't. Who the hell knows. What a life.

Its funny, when we bought Petrov I thought we were buying some indulgent, attacking midfielder. To be honest, at the beginning the indulgent bit certainly felt true, those first few months were patchy to say the least. So it was to my surprise and delight that a player would so keenly knuckle down and do so much hard graft to not only win his place in the team back, but to basically redefine his whole game and become the proverbial midfield engine room. Being a central midfielder for Villa in the past six years must often (very often) seem like a thankless task, Petrov's had more midfield partners than I've had hot showers, but through it all he's been a dependable, wholly committed presence; often under trying circumstances. I wish him the very best.

Well I certainly liked it when they beat Liverpool and Man U, but even more so when they generously let us win the league! Its too bad that Ballack's return has been a complete waste of time, money and goodwill; it slightly taints a person's memory of Chokers XI.

He got subbed for Heskey on Sunday, which was a shade unfair given that he set up our goal. True, I didn't think he was playing particularly well but ultimately, who offers you more of a goal scoring threat: N'Zogbia or Heskey? But anyway, we've scored fifteen in the past eight games, our real problem is we have an unbelievably bad defence.- Football
Ireland's looking a lot better though that's as much a testament to how poor he was before. He still occasionally looks really lacking in confidence, particularly with the goal at his mercy but yes, the past month has been a definite step in the right direction. As for Charles, I suppose we knew we were buying an enigma and that's what he's proving to be. I don't know what to make of him yet and I don't think McLeish does either.- Salma Hayek
