  2. The more Leo the better... I guess 😄 Even though I think they rounded up the run time a bit LOL Original article via Variety: Securing Scorsese’s movie at Cannes is a major coup for the festival’s chief Thierry Fremaux and follows months of discussions with Apple and Paramount. Fremaux told Variety in a long interview published this week that one of the important things for this upcoming 76th edition of the festival “was is to make sure that Martin Scorsese attends with his new film which is an important work.” Although the movie runs nearly 4 hours, it will likely thrive in theaters in France where movies from renowned American filmmakers routinely surpass box office expectations. Recent examples include Steven Spielberg’s “The Fabelmans.”

  8. So first Leo was the lead, then it was Jesse Plemons and now it is De Niro? What is going on??? 😂 Rumor: Robert De Niro is the Lead of ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ Some more “Killers of the Flower Moon” updates because more intel is being spilt, post-Cannes announcement. Firstly, Variety reported earlier today that the film runs “nearly 4 hours” which led a few people to email me about its accuracy. I reached out to ‘Killers’ screenwriter Eric Roth about the runtime, and he plainly stated: People like to throw out numbers. I find it rather meaningless. Mr. Scorsese's work speaks for itself. I'm just proud to be associated with this remarkable movie. Roth also seemed unaware as to whether or not the film would compete for the Palme d’Or, adding, “I think it will have a much deserved reception however it is shown.” Roger Friedman’s reporting last month had mentioned that the latest cut for Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon” clocked in at 3 hours 20 minutes. Is that “nearly” 4 hours? Scorsese’s last film, “The Irishman,” was released in 2019 as a 3 hour 30 minute epic. The legendary filmmaker loves his lengthy films, with his last few (“Silence” “The Wolf of Wall Street”) coming in at just under three hours. Additionally, Friedman has a new piece up today, detailing the Killers/Cannes announcement. Most of the writeup has to do with the basic facts that we already know. However, Friedman does mention something particularly interesting. He’s hearing Robert De Niro is the lead of the film and that his performance is said to be “spectacular.” Leonardo DiCaprio's role is a strong supporting turn. That’s news to me, and for most people. I reached out to Roger and he told me that what he wrote was no typo, De Niro is definitely the lead. De Niro’s William Hale, and his protege, DiCaprio’s Ernest Burkhart, were the evils perpetrated upon the Osage Nation — they inflicted brutal savagery on that community. If the film focuses on these two guys then we’re in for a very grim picture. The only photo that’s been released of “Killers of the Flower Moon” is the one of Leonardo Dicaprio and Lily Gladstone sitting at the table. We’ve been assuming all along that the film would focus on them. If De Niro is indeed the lead then it’s basically going to catch everyone off-guard. Initial production on the $200 million budgeted ‘Killers’ wrapped in October of 2021. Then a series of reshoots occurred in mid-2022, both in New York City and Oklahoma. Between pre and post, Scorsese’s been working on this one for three years now. I doubt he’s even concentrating on his next film, which is supposed to be an adaptation of David Grann’s “The Wager.” ‘Killers’, written by Roth, stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Jesse Plemons, Robert De Niro and Lily Gladstone. Its source material is the best-selling 2017 non-fiction book by Grann, which is based on the series of 1920s Oklahoma murders in the Osage Nation committed after oil was discovered on tribal land. Source I mean LOL (excerpt back from the "rough" cut from the very same site): I've heard nothing but amazing things about "Killers of The Flower Moon". Paramount and Apple are very excited. Leonardo Dicaprio, Jesse Plemons and Lily Gladstone’s performances are top-notch. Oscar noms for all 3 of them. DeNiro's role is shorter than it is in the book.

  10. @kellybsblover especially when you consider between Critters 3 and TBL/WEEG are only 2 years. That's an impressively short time for his development of acting skills. I mean yeah the script and everything of Critters 3 was probably pretty low but it's still a remarkable change of his skills for not only the better but oscar level better at such a young age.
  11. So I made it through Leos 90s decade and I can finally make a proper list of movies I liked from this era and which not. 👍 1) Titanic (extended + theatrical cut; can't decide which one is better. I think some of the deleted scenes should be in the movie and if Cameron can release a fuckin 9 hours cut of that shitty Avatar no one ask for I don't see why he can't do the same with Titanic BUT WHATEVER) 2) Romeo & Juliet (this movie has no doubts the best soundtrack ever; it's also my favorite of all Romeo & Juliet movies - haven't watched all of them but many including the 1968 one @YouNoMe) 3) What's Eating GG (probably Leos best performance in this decade, also Leos most adorable, heartwarming movie; love Becky great female written character; actually this movie is filled with great female characters) 4) Marvins Room (this movie is underrated; I LOVE the dynamic between the characters of Leo, Diane Keaton and Meryl Streep, again some well written female characters) 5) The Man In The Iron Mask (cheesy but love it, still one of my most watched Leo movies and probably his only "feel good" movie next to WEGG) 6) The Quick & The Dead (see my recent review) 7) The Basketball Diaries (even though Mark Wahlberg is one of the worst actors ever and I almost ended up putting this one on the other list Leos performance is too strong plus the story/message isn't the worst unlike TBL) 8 )This Boy's Life (very impressive performance by Leo especially compared to Critters 3; I liked the friendship of Toby and Arthur the most and I was glad Toby and his mother could escape this awful man but afterall Toby isn't a very likable character too; many of his actions seems very questionable to me and I don't know if the "he was young and dumb" answer is satisfying me) 👎 1) Don's Plum (by far Leos worst movie if you even can call it a movie because damn the quality here is at the lowest possible point 🙈) 2) Total Eclipse (awful I only liked the ending which means the maybe last 15 minutes) 3) The Foot Shooting Party (weird, terrible hair extensions, Leo is highly miscast and looks like a skinny 12 years old girl, also why Vietnam????) 4) Celebrity (boring overall but the parts with Leo are actually good) 5) Critters 3 (this is actually the only one I would rewatch because yes it is bad but also kinda entertaining and at least funny) May the 00 decade as successful as this one (already rewatched "The Beach")
  12. Tarantino movie update Quentin Tarantino Confirms Next Film is ‘The Movie Critic,’ Set in 1977 and Has Nothing to Do With Pauline Kael Quentin Tarantino was in Paris this evening promoting his book “Cinema Speculation,” which, I’m hearing, inspired him to write his next film. In a Q&A with Thierry Fremaux, Tarantino sought to clear the air about his upcoming new film. He confirmed that its title is indeed “The Movie Critic,” but that it has nothing to do with Pauline Kael. Tarantino went on to add that he just recently completed the screenplay and that the story is set in 1977. Also, the main character is not a movie critic, according to him. He’s aiming for a fall shoot in Los Angeles. The event took place at the Grand Rex theater in Paris. No cellphones were allowed in the room, so I doubt any video footage will emerge. Frémaux being Frémaux, he couldn’t resist telling Tarantino to bring “The Movie Critic” to Cannes 2025. Source Didn't quite realize the ones with Leo were also the most successful movies #power of leo I'm really curious if KOTFM is capable to pull off such numbers.
  13. According to pagesix Leo wasn't only in a hot daddy but very good mood 😚 Leonardo DiCaprio hits luxe car party Leonardo DiCaprio and the “White Lotus” actress Simona Tabasco were among the many stars celebrating Polestar’s newest luxury electric SUV at The Shed in New York City on Tuesday night. “Leo stayed for quite a while to chat with party guests, enjoy the music and a drink,” an insider exclusively tells Page Six on Wednesday. “He certainly wasn’t as under the radar as much as he usually is, as he was without his typical baseball cap and sunglasses.” We’re told the environmental activist, 48, was seen mingling with Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath, 59, and they even posed for photos together. “Leo wasn’t with a crazy big entourage [and] was doing a lot of mingling with the Polestar team and checking out the car,” the source says. DiCaprio, an investor in the electric car company, was “definitely enjoying” himself and “full of smiles,” the source says. Source
  14. Camila Morrone on That Shocking ‘Daisy Jones & The Six’ Finale We caught up with Camila Morrone to talk about the making of the hit Prime Video series and what Daisy Jones & The Six gets right about love Daisy Jones & The Six is a love story. But maybe not the one you’re thinking of. Amazon Prime’s newest series, based on the best-selling novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid, Daisy Jones & The Six fixates on fictional rock band The Six and their path to stardom. Led by lead singer Billy Dunne (Sam Claflin), the group hits on magic when they join forces with wild child singer Daisy Jones (Riley Keough). Billy is a recovering alcoholic and married father of one and Daisy a pill-obsessed rocker who lives at a hotel and parties longer than she sleeps. What could go wrong? But underneath the will-they-won’t-they tension of the series and its main characters, is another story: that of Billy’s wife Camila Dunne. Played by Camila Morrone, Camila is the honorary sixth member of the group, but is often left home alone with the baby. In each episode, she encourages Billy to continue his music and follow his dreams, but is cheated on, lied to, and disrespected at every turn. In a lesser show, Camila could have been a wallflower easily forgotten given the sexy chemistry of the ill-fated leads. But with wisdom and ease, Morrone gives a defining performance, imbuing her character with an undeniable spark. The former model had only been in two indie films before she was cast in Daisy Jones. But she tells Rolling Stone that she was only interested in Camila because of the agency the writers were able to give her. “I just wanted to give her strength and power. I wanted her to be strong and spicy and fight back and be flexible, but also to have really strong boundaries. There were some great scenes that kind of gave her that flair and that edge,” Morrone says. “She’s nobody’s fool. I was happy that that was in there because if not, it wouldn’t have been a character I was interested in playing.” Rolling Stone caught up with Camila Morrone to talk the Daisy Jones & The Six finale, how she became Camila, her favorite Taylor Jenkins Reid books, and much more. What attracted you to Daisy Jones as a project? Did your approach to the role change at all during filming? It came to me in 2019, as you know, just like any other audition does, through my agents. I had heard about the book. I had never done a book adaptation. I had never been a part of that. So that sounded really enticing to me. Also, being a book that has such an incredible fan base already — when I signed on the book was a bestseller, so I knew that there was something there before I even got down to reading the book. Then of course, I dove into the book and the rest was history. I fell in love with the style of writing that Taylor Jenkins Reid has. Initially I was very interested in Daisy Jones because she’s a flashier character and you know, the drugs, sex, and rock and roll, and singing and playing guitar. And then I started to be very interested in Camila because she was less flashy, but I believe equally soulful and important to the storyline. The show does a great job of really showing Camila’s agency as her own person. How and where do you think she fits in with the band? What I think I saw in Camila is a woman who’s incredibly deep and powerful. She’s the backbone in a lot of ways. She is the driving force creating that love and stability and home life and encouragement and support for Billy through everything. He would kind of crumble without her. And everyone seems to turn to Camila at some point in the story for guidance. What was important for you to get across in your performance as Camila? I didn’t want her to be the “wife of a rock star” or “housewife who’s raising the kid.” What’s really beautiful about Camila is that she’s willing to accept things that are very painful in love and relationships and marriage. Camila has this incredible bird’s-eye view of understanding humans and their mistakes. Just how complicated we all are and how important forgiveness is when you really believe in someone. While the story is inspired by the Taylor Jenkins Reid book, it takes some big and unexpected swings. One is almost explicitly showing that Camila has her own affair with Billy’s bandmate Eddie. Was that nerve-racking for you to do such a big shift when people are devoted to the specific plot points in this book? People are devoted to the book. And I am too in a lot of ways. So, I was initially against it. When I read it in the script, I called the writer and I said, “Are you sure you want Camila to do this? Because it’s going to make her unlikable.” We got into talking about it and I think that it ends up being entirely justified because it is not out of revenge. It is not for attention. It underlines really how important it is to feel seen and desired and what it feels like to be pushed aside and not taken care of emotionally or physically. That’s why I’m really proud of the decision to do what was best for her in that moment. While viewers who hadn’t read the book just found out, you knew the whole time that the person conducting the interview was your character’s daughter. You also knew that at the end of the series, it’s revealed that Camila has died. How did you approach your performances for the final episode, especially this idea that people were gonna have to see Camila without her physical strength anymore? We can only put up with so much, as women, as wives, as partners. And I think that that gives Camila humanity, because otherwise she’s this unattainable, perfect goddess-like wife, and she’s not. She’s human. She is deeply flawed and insecure and afraid, she just contains those emotions really well and she’s quite mature about the way that she handles them. In the season finale, you see a woman come to her breaking point. And even in her breaking point, to know Daisy is what Billy might need next? What a woman! To be able to go, “Maybe I can’t make this person happy anymore.”’ At the end of the day, it takes real love. I don’t even know if I can look at my life and say I could have that kind of maturity in that situation. While Daisy Jones isn’t a real person, there’s definitely an aspect of true life that’s imbued in the story. And you and some of the cast are incredibly famous in your own way. Do you feel like this has put a lot of scrutiny on your own private life? For instance, you’ve had very famous relationships, like with actor Leonardo DiCaprio. Did that ever feel like pressure? I just focus on the work. To me, what’s most important is delivering in the job that I do. I’ve been really lucky to get to work. It’s my priority in life and it’s the thing that I love the very most on Earth, and it’s my passion. I’m nowhere near where I want to be as an actor, but projects like this allow me to have some visibility and explore my art. I just feel really lucky that I’m able to do the thing that makes me the very happiest on earth. From script to filming to final project, creating Daisy Jones & The Six has been a real journey. The production was constantly delayed by COVID-19, which meant the series has been up in the air. Has all of the extra time strengthened your bond to the series and your castmembers? Were you nervous about the reception? When you’re in it and you’re filming, you can’t think about, “Is this going to be good?” You have an essence of the character but then you have to be present for your fellow actors and be in the moment. You’ve created this character for all these months that when you get there on the day, you just have to let it go and hope that this character is living somewhere within you. But all that time definitely strengthened our relationships. When we were on hold for two years, we were always waiting for the phone call saying, “You know what? We spent too much money and it’s just not going to happen.” So, now the show’s out and now it’s the world’s. And I guess that was just our intention and our objective from the very beginning. Source
