I think this film was really meant to be released first, then the action-packed Fury Road. This one has more world building and backstory. I recall that was one of the first aspects/appeal of Fury Road when I saw it- a big WTF is going on with this world and who are these strange characters? Overall with Mad Max films the protagonists/antagonists tend to be silent and imho are meant to be a blank slate for the audience to project onto rather than go into extensive characterization. Anya from what i've seen so far is very silent and acts mainly with her eyes and physical movement. She does a good job here. I still think that Charlize was better though- but few actresses can beat her I've never seen Chris hemworth in anything else but action films like his Thor role. I guess when actors sell out to Marvel they cease appearing in many serious dramatic roles. IMHO in action films like Henry Cavil he is not very interesting as an actor- his perfect physical appearance overwhelms the rest of him. Now that you've seen furiosa then fury road should be enriched somehow imho. I want to rewatch fury road again after i do this one too!

Hailey didn't have kids yet so she looks mostly the same (but older, there are early signs of fine lines on her face). She gained a little weight but is in better shape than last time. Sucks that her career didn't take off.

Not Chris Hemsworth, the super-star? I think Liam actually looks more like Geralt than Henry C. TBH I have never seen a film/show with either Charlie H. or Liam Hemsworth so I have no idea about how they would act. I found Henry C. to be physically miscast (he is too pretty, dressed too effeminate/flashy, he has massive non-functional bodybuilder muscles & his swordplay looks awkward), as well as Yennefer (the W3 game one is often compared to Kate Beckinsale & Eva Green in looks & personality and that is how I read her in the books too). Ciri is the better of the three but still miscast, the character in the books and the third game is a tall athletic girl with a fiery personality. (she is my avatar) But worse than the physical appearance is the scripting which follows neither the books nor the games- the way the Netflix has Geralt written only attempts the portray a narrow range of his complex character. Henry C's complaints were correct. If they can't fix the writing then it doesn't matter if they found someone with perfect looks & acting. The most commonly associated visual with Geralt (with no beard) is him in the Witcher 3 Liam looks more like Geralt than Henry but I find him too pretty and too young. The author of the Witcher books, Sapkowski was a Consultant for Witcher 1 game and this is what they came up with. Later games made him better looking: The English-language voice Actor Doug Cockle was advised to use Clint Eastwood's westerns as inspiration for the voice, which he did and it is the most well-known version of Geralt's voice. The Polish Witcher actor also has a batman voice in both the games and the Polish TV show. The books also have Western elements too. In terms of visual appearance I think anyone who looks like the W3 version would be ideal and also visually he should look like a wirery and not overly huge. A rugged working man, with a beaten up middle aged face with worn clothing/functional & practical gear, not the flashy Western fantasy armor/clothes they gave him in the show. This patchy tunic (or other worn clothing/gear- like brown medieval protective gear & so forth) is what I imagine Geralt to be dressed like in the books- working class character.

IIRC the show is still watched but is declining. This show as originally planned to have 7 seasons and now it's cut down to 5- I wonder if for S4 they will change direction or will continue making things up and disappointing fans. I hope that Witcher continues to have a future in TV after this, but with a better team..

Box Office: 'Furiosa' Lowest Memorial Day Opening in 41 Years, Should Hollywood Worry? (deadline.com) Seems like fans either loved it or thought it was good but flawed, and not as good as Fury Road. The action scenes are good but not as good as it for sure. The film is continuing to bomb so far- I hope it makes it so Miller can make part 3. What a lot of people don't know is that Fury Road didn't do well and was saved by Blu-ray sales. But that was enough to shelve the project for a long time. Unfortunately, we don't live in that era anymore with streaming..

Tell me how you liked it.. I watched part of it already (I have a copy of it). I like it and it's entirely in line with the universe. Anya has huge and expressive eyes, like an anime character. Apparently this film was intended to be made at the same time as fury road but the business situation prevented it from happening until now. So it appears that Miller intended to make this film first, (so we know who Furiosa is) and Fury Road was to be the bombastic second half. So far Part 1 isn't doing so well in the box office. I hope that it does so that Part 3 will be made.. From what I've seen this Part 1 of the story has less action and more story than Part 2. I re-watched parts of Fury Road to prep for this viewing, I remember that this sandstorm scene struck me hard in theaters- it was when I realized that I was watching something really special:

Kaylee's obese boyfriend doesn't look too happy to be in the video. She looks too pure for this world, and if I was her boyfriend would not like seeing my disney princess-future wife advertising herself all the time on youtube/instagram for the all the men in the world to see..
