I haven't watched the new season yet but I saw the scene where Halbrand changes into Annatar. I also saw the Sauron as venom thing- I definitely was not expecting to see anything like that- in my mind Sauron was more like a spirit entity rather than a physical substance.
The scene with Sauron and the heavens is pretty interesting to me- on closer inspection Annatar is almost like a holy Christ-like figure to Celebrimbor, the whole scene has a biblical aura to it. Also besides the makeover Annatar is shrouded in darkness while beneath the heavens, indicating who he really is.
Interestingly, Charlie's test for the Sauron role was him reciting Satan from Paradise Lost & Richard III. Literally I talked about Paradise lost earlier so I suppose the showrunners (as well as Tolkein) were influenced by it.
