It is an intensely bitter-sweet feeling, it is an intensely felt defeat and yet also a small victory. A traumatic departure. A defeat as one has struggled for so long and made the most terrible sacrifices but also a victory as one has performed their maximum, honorable effort despite getting crushed by outside circumstances beyond one's control.
