I'm sorry but Samantha Hoopes just looks trashy, not like a real SI model. This is a far cry from Marisa Miller. Samantha is more like Katie Price aka Jordan. I think SI should still strive for having models who are not only swimsuit models but also look like fashion models.

Thank you for the information regarding Doutzen leaving Victoria's Secret! I was surprised when I found out about her not being a Victoria's Secret Angel anymore and I wondered about the circumstances around the decision. I wish she had stayed since she is part of the generation of models who are "real" Victoria's Secret Angels in my mind. But since Miranda had already left, in a way it's fitting that Doutzen left too.

Wasn't there some talk about how Barbara wasn't available for modeling work because she was shooting a movie? In that case, it was probably not a wise move on her part. I think that Victoria's Secret doesn't want to invest in a model in a major way i.e. making her a Victoria's Secret Angel if there seems to be a risk that she could just try to use the exposure to become an actress. I think that Victoria's Secret was not done with Rosie when she went off to film Transformers etc.

I can't help but wonder if she is feeling bad about the situation not only because so many girls ended up getting the Angel contract but because she had worked with at least three of the models more or less on equal footing. Taylor Hill is another one of her peers: I gotta give credit to Stella, a lot of other girls would have crumbled being around Barbara because there was such a vast difference between their popularity, the work they were getting. No one predicted that Stella would become a Victoria's Secret Angel when she was pictured with Barbara for social media, the reaction was more like "She is a model too??" (Although I thought of her as being unpolished but still having potential.) Maybe Barbara was a little too immature? Not that Stella is necessarily mature but Ed might like a different kind of immaturity, more of a Stella or Cara Delevingne vibe. Not someone who has her head in the clouds but instead someone who is kinda wild, wants to party and have fun, a bit of a rebel by the industry standards etc. Barbara should try out for SI, they had Lucia Dvorska in the magazine once and I've always thought that there was something a bit similar about them. I think that becoming complacent or overconfident might have been her undoing. Maybe she can get some solace out of having a more lucrative modelling contract with L'Oréal Paris than she would have gotten as a Victoria's Secret Angel but the thing is that she could have parleyed a contract with Victoria's Secret into so many other things since Victoria's Secret puts a whole different level of spotlight on their models than any cosmetics brand ever could.

I do think that Victoria's Secret could be doing a disservice to its brand by announcing so many new Angels. Even in Playboy, there is a very clear hierarchy like appearing online or in one of the special editions is not as prestigious as appearing in the main magazine. Being called a Playmate or a Centerfold is a special title that only 12 new models get per year and out of those twelve one is chosen as the Playmate of the Year. Of course the media can confuse things (calling someone a Playmate even though she has only shot for Playboy) but the company and Hef are quite clear on the distinctions. Surely the new contracts aren't so big as before although that was one of the main things that made being a Victoria's Secret Angel so impressive originally. Yet maybe the concept of "Victoria's Secret Angels" is so synonymous with the brand now that they think that they need to "spread the love", wings for almost everyone who walks for them etc. They see that the public and the media loves to call anyone who shoots with VS an Angel because it's such a feather in your cap to be a Victoria's Secret model.

Barbara is definitely a case of what could have been. She had so much going for her because she had the right background (high fashion work, a perfume campaign, cosmetics contracts with L'Oréal and Chanel) and immediately booked big jobs for VS. Since all those other girls can score an Angel contract (Stella and Sara being Barbara's contemporaries for sure!), she could have too. She is probably her biggest enemy. Maybe if she had measured herself when they hired her for the Christmas commercial and the fashion show, tried to keep it at that... She had too much going on at the time, she wanted to do it all at once: singing, acting, law school and modelling. Being a celebrity basically. I think VS appreciates loyalty, girls who are dying over the idea of getting wings, to be called a Victoria's Secret Angel.

Wow, that's amazing! It was a little weird to come back here because it was like no time had passed, the discussion hadn't changed, i.e. complaints about Barbara barely working etc. So this is definitely welcome news! Karl must love her, she even walked for Chanel despite her height. I wish he cast her again in one of his shows. By the way, is there any particular reason why Barbara is not tweeting anymore? I was very surprised to find out about that. Maybe she handled her Twitter account the wrong way like she used to follow many fans who were begging her to follow them.

I don't think she hates it. When Ariel and Kate Bock were complaining about some people leaving vulgar comments on their Instagram pictures, Nina said, "I think it's so entertaining though," and "As long as they're not mean, I don't care. But like when they say like nasty stuff like that, I kinda enjoy it."

If Adriana has shown so little interest in Behati’s wedding that she had no idea when it was happening, no wonder she wasn’t invited. It’s a two-way street. I don’t think it’s insulting at all that a hair stylist was invited over Adriana. Maybe he was responsible for Behati’s wedding look. Plus lots of people get close to their hair dresser let alone someone who is a model and gets her hair done all the time.

Emily R looks bad. Awful hair color and styling. It looks dirty and messy and not in a good way.

I love that Genevieve has bangs and how she looks in the ruffle bikini. For some reason I was interested to see Kate Bock from the thumbnails. The location looked great. Glad to see Jessica Gomez back. Bregje’s pictures look the most like fashion photography out of them all. Does Emily R. have implants? I like this sort of feline look that Hannah Ferguson has. Lily is Wow I did not expect her to deliver such men’s magazine appeal. ^^ Overall this issue is definitely way more out there. Like one shot of Chrissy posing topless and her butt in the air reminds me of Playboy a bit The Legends shoot was bad. I can appreciate the idea of a “class picture” but the execution was drab. Plus some of those black outfits remind me of Halloween witch getups. Kate looks amazing. She belongs in the sun. I think her body looks better than last year. Her boobs are just crazy! The gravity shoot has some crazy eyes but body poses are great. The shot of her wearing sunglasses and a pink swimsuit is an instant classic.

Behati was so insincere in the Lais video that it just made everyone look bad. Maybe they should have gotten Lily or someone else who could have mustered up some sympathy. The whole video seemed more like a parody but they were trying to be serious and dramatic so I couldn’t even finish it. I think Behati’s strength could lie in being the cheekier Angel, kind of letting the viewer know she is in on the joke.
