I guess the point is, back then the competition was between strictly hf models and fashion models who also did catalogue (Erin Heatherton types). Not Instagram models making it to the call-backs over Vogue models.

I do think this VS castings thing has gone overboard…. Can’t even go to castings without training twice a day for weeks with a personal trainer, having a stylist dress you, getting professional hair and makeup done etc. (Of course, some don’t but when the competition is doing all that, most will feel the need to try to keep up.)
