I know I'm late with replying to this, but I was also wondering about that. They probably decided there's already 'enough' models of colour in the show to fill their quota Her Angel contract had run out and she didn't attend casting. IIRC, she was on the "dream board" at casting, though.ETA: proof

^^While I think it is important to remember the past and learn from it, I also do believe that people aren't responsible for the sins of their elders. Karlie, VS and the rest of America today have nothing to do with the Native genocide, hardly anybody in Europe is still alive from those who took part in the Shoah and the other genocides that took place 75 years or so ago. They shouldn't have to feel guilty for something they didn't do. If you're a jerk that's your fault. If your ancestor was a jerk, there's not much you can do. I choose to believe that, through choosing Thanksgiving and through that outfit, VS was celebrating the Native culture, not disparaging it. Sure they did it in a tacky way, but then again, when isn't VS tacky? Also, re:Karlie, I don't mind her for PINK or lounge or whatever, but I am slightly irritated by the fact VS pushes her as one of their main faces because she doesn't fit my idea of the brand as a whole. Likewise I think Lindsay is much more fitted for the cute or sophisticated type of products, while Candice is better suited for Swim or the more Bombshell type of stuff.

I agree, especially since Lindsay tweeted As in, she's not a fan herself. It's rather suspicious they just happen to go to the concert like one day after the show when the tickets probably went on sale when they didn't have any idea when the show was and knew they might have to miss it. This whole thing is just part of JB's PR team's plan to make his image more adult. Bonus, two new Lindsay twitpics.

Peta already did something once when Gisele walked. It was edited out.And TBH, I am glad that other people who are a lot more knowledgeable on the issue than I am are sharing their POV. What bugs me is that the "costume" in itself wasn't derogatory, unlike the Wild Things segment, which was a lot more offensive IMO (there actually was some tiny controversy over it IIRC). I guess that one could pass it as "cultural appropriation", but then again, isn't that great when cultures are shared between people? On the topic of "VS should have seen it coming", the No Doubt video was pulled only days before the show. Doing a whole new outfit that fit the November brief from scratch would have been tough, so I can see why they didn't scrap it at first.

Cause VS finally came to their senses. Hopefully they do the same with Karlie.
