Ronaldo passing to a teammate in the penalty box, I've seen it all now.
  2. So much great stuff since the last time I visited. Thanks guys!
  3. It's out now in the UK but I'm still awaiting the chance to see it, unfortunately. What did you think? Was it a (Y) or a (N) ?
  4. Josephine Skriver [8] Doutzen Kroes [7]
  5. I suspect that the next time we see Rogue onscreen it’ll be with someone new in the role, which would be a bit of a shame really, because I'd prefer to see Anna given another shot. I suppose to be fair, one of the reasons why she never became ‘badass’ Rogue was probably that the accompanying storyline from the books would have been hard to do without eating up a considerable chunk of the movie. They would have needed to dedicate as much time to it as they did to the Jean Grey/Phoenix arc in 'Last Stand', which obviously, you can't do for everyone.
  6. It's always hard to tell from a trailer, and I never like to judge movies based on their promo materials. I just think you have to play to your characters' strengths, and laying artificial sheen on this thick for the duration of the running time would be a massive hindrance to showcasing Superman and his powers. I quite liked the Wonder Woman gear when it was first revealed, but it’s remarkable how much better it looks with just that little extra splash of colour. The Supersuit isn’t bad, although it could probably use something distinct to break up all the blue. A bit of red in the centre or around the arms like his ‘New 52’ suit has wouldn't have gone amiss. The Batsuit is a real achievement. It looks like it just stepped straight out of the comics, in a good way.
  7. I suppose my problem is that I strongly associate Superman with brightness, scope and magnitude, which is pretty much the exact opposite of what's in the trailer. The cinematography has a weird, muddy, nightmarish aesthetic to it and the colour palette makes it look muted and almost claustrophobic. That being said, it’s a mix-up of random images and soundbites from a movie that's another year away from being released, and the finished product could well be completely different from what we've seen so far. I just hope the dark, desaturated tones and metallics aren't the only type of backdrop that we're going to get.
  8. Poster reveal.
  9. Thanks Kev. By the reaction online, it’s quite clear that many have made their minds up about the movie already. I’m not the biggest FF aficionado, but I see no reason as a comic book fan, not to go and see it. Saying that, I do think the second trailer was a slight step down from the first. This latest one seems to have more of a 'standard superhero flick' vibe to it, and I was excited about the hard sci-fi angle.
  10. Seconded. The first X-Men, while obviously not perfect, was so important in redefining the comic book movie genre. Just a few years after the likes of 'Batman and Robin', where the plots were ludicrous, the scripts were dreadful and actors like Val Kilmer had already dismissed the characters as silly people running around in silly outfits, Singer created a character-driven story about a group whose greatest enemy was prejudice, societal bias and hatred, and paved the way for the more up to date fare of Captain America, Avengers and the Dark Knight. Granted, studios still ended up making things like 'Catwoman' at various points along the way, but there's been such a big overall step up in quality over the last decade or so, which absolutely could not have happened without the X-Men franchise. Sounds like Anna Paquin is up for making a comeback, but only on the condition that she gets to fly.
  11. This may be my favourite Bregje pic to date, which is saying quite a bit. Thanks Jennka!

So, no birthday FA Cup final appearance for Gerrard after all, he and Allen were quite simply overpowered and outclassed by Delph and Grealish in the midfield. Someone at Liverpool will have to organise some gift vouchers or perhaps a gold watch for him instead.
  13. Yeah, I seem to remember the original comic book version of Fisk being quite convincing, and a well rounded character with real (albeit loopy) motivations and weaknesses. I like the fact that they've stayed true to that and haven't just made him into a cartoonish villain.
  14. Official trailer. Non-blurry, non-pirated.
  15. I'm not twitching with excitement yet, but it was pretty good. Nice to see that the old guard (Hamill, Ford and Bacca) don't appear to be phoning it in just for the cash. I liked the opening shot a lot too, I was so busy looking at the speeder at the beginning that I didn't realise what was in the background until it was fully onscreen. The only real worry for me is that most of the quick shots look a lot like content from the original trilogy. New versions of Stormtroopers, new R2-style droid, new Vader-esque bad guy. At this point, it seems deliberate, but I'd like to see the movie start marking its own territory a bit more.
  16. I could talk X-Men forever, marking it down as a win that there are still two of us. Yeah, you have to wonder how they'll make the Summers family connection work now. Alex was a young guy in 'First Class' and Scott will be a young guy in this one, although there probably won't be enough of an age gap to rule out the possibility of the two still being brothers. Not sure it’s believable for Lucas Till to play a character in his forties either, but I suppose we’ll have to wait and see how it plays out onscreen. If nothing else, it might distract from Wolverine looking fifteen years older in 1983 than he did in 2003.
  17. A leaked preview with Portuguese subtitles found its way onto the internet last night. Having watched it a couple of times, I wouldn't be surprised if this project was starting to scare DC and Warners a bit. I can appreciate that it's just a teaser and an unfinished one at that, but there's something very insular and sound-stagey about the set pieces, it feels empty and looks visually flat. Hopefully the atmosphere opens up more in the next clip.

Desperately hoping that he doesn't end up at Anfield, I'd really rather avoid the barrage of hideous Kop/Klopp puns that would surely ensue. :yuckky:
  19. How big is that opening weekend going to be?
  20. Her performance in 'DOFP' was a big step up from 'First Class', but overall, I never saw her as a great fit for the part. I think Lawrence has an acute case of franchise fatigue at the moment. In addition to four 'Hunger Games' movies, this is her third X-Men and most actors seem to tire of playing the same roles after a while. Unless they're Hugh Jackman, who's happy to be playing an iconic character and owns it, or Robert Downey, who gets paid £60m a pop. She probably isn't a fan of going through the extensive make-up process needed to portray Mystique either. I believe Rebecca Romijn and Alan Cumming hated it too back in the day.
  21. Using the bathroom in a movie theatre? Gross, Hawkeye!
  22. To say Tiiu's career seems to have wound down somewhat would be the understatement of 2015 so far, but she’s still such a good model and way too special to be so underrated. She’ll always be one of my favourites.
  23. Josephine Skriver [6] Isabeli Fontana [3]
  24. Yeah, in many ways, Mystique is to the X-Men franchise what Black Widow is to the Avengers. Both are examples of characters who've become better known and more popular via the movies, rather than the source material. Mystique's superpower probably helps with that, since shape-shifting looks considerably cooler on film than on the page. A lot of people online like to make comparisons between Wolverine and Iron Man too, in terms of how they're always front and center in every movie. To be fair, there's probably some truth to that, but the likes of Jackman, Lawrence and Downey are the hook for folks who otherwise wouldn't want to go.
