  2. Further news about this. It seems Baron Cohen may have someone on the inside... Was 'Bruno' an Invited Guest at Stella McCartney? Look at him. That 'do, those highlights, that leather, pocketed vest, that smirk. You can't help but laugh at the laboured spectacle that is 'Bruno'. Sacha Baron Cohen's fashion-loving alter-ego made another appearance at fashion week, this time in Paris. After causing a raucous on the Milan catwalk a couple weeks ago, Bruno took an assumingly reserved seat just behind the front row at the Stella McCartney show, and mostly behaved himself (well, he didn't storm the runway, anyway). According to Grazia magazine, while wearing a red thong pulled above his leather trousers, he (oh geez) sucked on a tampon and pushed through the front row for a better look. (I have no idea what significance that act was supposed to have.) Far from watching quietly, he clapped along to the music and gave a solo standing ovation. He was also observed showing "wild approval for some looks, disdain for others". When Stella McCartney came out for her bow, he moved his hand to indicate he deemed the show okay, but not great. Hee hee! So, the question is, did Stella McCartney invite him? It would seem so - when she was asked about the prankster's presence she exclaimed "Bruno? I had no idea!" And then she laughed. Obviously he was invited, you don't want Stella's daddy mad at you. (Source: theswellelife.com)

  8. ELVIS!: '55/56 at Sun Studios Sun Studio was opened by Sam Philips at 706 Union Avenue in Memphis, Tennessee on January 3rd 1950. On July 18th, 1953, Elvis went to Sun Studios to record some tracks as a present for his mother. When he was asked by an assistant who he sounded like - he famously answered: "I don't sound like nobody!" Elvis (with his sidemen Scotty Moore and Bill Black) along with Sam Philips: Recording in the studio: On Tuesday December 4, 1956 in the Sun Record Studios, an impromptu jam session between Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Johnny Cash occurred. Lewis had been providing piano accompaniment to a Perkins recording session when Elvis dropped by. A little later Cash popped in too. The resulting jam and album (sketchy recordings of mostly country-standards and a few Christmas carols) is known as The Million Dollar Quartet:
  9. Yes, I noticed it too, Bella! Although they're not really look-alikes, are they. But Hilary really reminds me of Priscilla in some pics.
  10. ^ Bless you, azgirl - I hadn't seen this before because I had long since abandoned this thread. It seems that your BUMP had little impact too? Alas, I had hoped for great things here, but I guess it proved just too much of this sort of head-fuck: !!!
  11. DAVID BOWIE - SANTA MONICA '72 "Steve Martin here, backstage at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium. Its a cool night in Los Angeles and as you may know or not know, the Santa Monica Civic is about a hundred yards from the beach so we have a cool breeze blowing off the ocean through the stage at our backs. The auditorium is packed, as a matter of fact, for the first David Bowie concert in the Los Angeles area. There will be one more tomorrow night, this is the concert tonight which will be recorded by RCA for the next David Bowie album and we expect to hear some new material by this British superstar. David and his group, the Spiders from Mars, will enter from the other side of the stage. The auditorium is completely blacked out except for flashing strobe lights. Now the entrance music will be the Ode, or should I say the Ode to Joy which is featured in the movie Clockwork Orange and the house lights are starting to dim, ..... here's David Bowie..." David Bowie's concert at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium in Los Angeles on the 20th October 1972 was a classic Ziggy Stardust concert and one which firmly established him in the American market. And for many Bowie fans, this concert, still remains the most exciting live performance ever by David Bowie and The Spiders From Mars. Promotional Materials: Bowie relaxing before the gig: The show quickly became a high quality popular bootleg through its exposure on FM radio. The performance of Bowie at Santa Monica was officially released on 25 April 1994 as SANTA MONICA '72 after circulating amongst Bowie fans for years as one of THE best Bowie bootlegs ever. The songs played were as follows: Hang Onto Yourself / Ziggy Stardust / Changes / The Supermen / Life on Mars? / Five Years / Space Oddity / Andy Warhol / My Death / The Width Of A Circle / Queen Bitch / Moonage Daydream / John, I'm Only Dancing / Waiting For The Man / The Jean Genie / Suffragette City & the encore Rock 'n Roll Suicide
