Mor ve Ötesi was formed in 1995 with the line-up comprising Kerem Kabadayı (drums), Harun Tekin (vocals & guitar), Derin Esmer (vocals & guitar) and Alper Tekin (bass). They released their first album Şehir (The City) in 1996 and played at their first live concert outside Istanbul at METU, Ankara. That year, Burak Güven replaced Alper Tekin on bass. Bırak Zaman Aksın (Let Time Flow), their second album was released in 1999 to massive success. He completed his primary and secondary education in Karadeniz Ereğli (Zonguldak), then in 1995-1996 he attended a fine art oriented high school in İstanbul. At the time he pursued his musical career at various music halls as a backing vocalist. In 1998 he became the first runner up as the male vocalist in a contest for high school students organized by Milliyet(a Turkish national newspaper).
