Call me crazy but is that necessary? I've been a long time lurker here at Bellazon but never felt inclined to sign up but seeing stuff like that is crazy. Heaven forbid someone put up a repost ... if you've seen it don't comment maybe someone else hasn't.

Short story time: I'm relatively new to Photoshop. I've had it for years, but I never really ventured much further than some basic image correction. I've decided to play around with it a bit more, so today's project was colorizing a black and white photo: one of Candice's from the recent Mario Testino shoot. I did a really rough attempt earlier to lock down my approach, then worked longer than I care to mention on this one. A bit tedious, but an interesting exercise nonetheless. Some of the details are a bit off (my eyes started to cross by the end), and the colors are probably a bit too bright, but hopefully some of you get a kick out of it.

The background is purple because when I was playing around it reminded me of a VS shot and made me smile. If someone would like a more neutral color, just let me know; it's a very quick fix. The egotastic tag, unfortunately, remains, as it was the cleanest version of the image I had to work with.

And no disrespect to Mr. Testino. His black and white shot was breathtaking. It was an exploration of "can I?" not "should I?".

I removed the tag and changed colour/light a little bit.. don't know if you like it..

I love Candice, shes so gorgeous and her accent just makes her even more charming <3

Sometimes (or everytime), I really don't understand why HF brands don't use much more the VS models like Candice. She is just so beautiful and perfect!! In my opinion, she is more breathaking than the models who land the major campaigns or walk the runway. And I'd like to see her in something other and different than VS (even if I love her in Pink). She is more versatile!

Because being a HF model isn't always about looking 'perfect'. Believe it or not, there is an art to modeling... and as pretty as Candice is she isn't very versatile and really is a 'one' look type of a model. Once upon a time, before she got super popular (and VS got their hands on her), there was plenty of potential in her, but she's learned she can rely on simply looking hot rather than doing much else.

Well, they DID give Candice like 85% of the screentime in that video. Props for the use of 15 Step too.

Can't wait for the HQs of those catalogue pics, if they come out. Those widescreen shots are screaming to be wallpaperized.
