The Ukraine war drama is wearing thin after 4 yrs..

There seems to be no way either side would agree on terms to end the war.

Trump's small moves to side with Russia to pressure Ukraine to concede will not end the war.

@Matt! A long time ago I read a book called the "New Industrial State" by John Galbraith. He was one of the biggest Democratic party public economists back in the 1960s. The ideas in his book stayed with me. This book was written during the early stages of US de-industrialization.

In this book, he basically advocates that the US economic policy more resemble those of Germany/Korea/Japan/China, a society that is industrial and post-industrial at the same time rather than extremely de-industrialized like it is today. He wanted to preserve workers unions and use to the state to prop up entire industries to make them competitive on the global marketplace and prevent their natural collapse from lower cost and high quality foreign producers.

It is kind of interesting to wonder what if US economic history moved more in the German/East Asian direction and remained a one-party system (Democratic). This means that the Republicans would never use the 'Southern Strategy'/culture wars to con their way and the Democratic party would not move in the Clinton direction of full on wall street/corporate corruption and right wing economics.

Definitely the US would have a much stronger middle/working class and would probably be in far better financial condition. A new set of problems would arise but I bet they would be a lot less than what the US went through historically. I can easily imagine that the bottom 99% would have double the net worth. The rich would be much less rich. The finance and health care industries would be quite small and closer to a normal size rather than 40% + of the 'economy'.

Technological innovation would be far more diverse and greater than it is today. The US would actually be a very strong country, rather than the mirage/hallucination it is today.
