April 22Apr 22 Author I am currently listening to the audiobook for Prof. Alexander Dugin's "Geopolitics" and "4th Political Theory".Dugin has been influential among the right wing influencers, Tucker, & Steve Bannon and is the most famous Russian philosopher in the West. The puzzle pieces are starting to connect now.. it is more clear to me why a portion of MAGA is so pro-Russian. They have much more in common with the orthodox Christian Russians than with liberals in the US & Europe. The 4th Political theory is basically an elaboration of Russian orthodox Christian sociology and mindset, and political viewpoints- as typical of the traditional orthodox Christian Russian villager and small townsfolk across Russia who support traditional Russian values & Putin as opposed to the more secular and liberal/westernized Russians in the cities. It is also highly supportive of the multipolar world and anti-West & anti-American hegemony. It is opposed to Western culture especially in the context of integrating it into Russia, characterizing it as Anglo-Saxon elitism/racism, criticizing its focus on market ideology, futurism, and human rights without respect to tradition and the past or the quality of mental well being, community & society. But Dugin's 4th Political theory awards equal respect to all traditions/cultures. This is how Putin conducts his diplomacy outside of states he considers 'slavic'/russian, and this is similar to the Chinese approach to international relations. So the Western approach is to divide the world into 'good' pro-West democracies/dictatorships VS Anti-West 'authoritarian' regimes. While the Russians & Chinese treat North Korea & Iran with respect. The Monroe/Donroe doctrine fits nicely into the Russian multi-polar viewpoint- the US sphere of influence stays restricted in the western hemisphere while keeping out of Russian, Chinese, or other great powers' affairs.Dugin, while initially enthusiastic about Trump is now turning against him due to the war in Iran, which the Russians consider against the principles of the multi-polar world.

April 23Apr 23 Author The Pentagon now claims that "60%" of Iranian navy is in-tact...CNN ran news saying that 50% of US missiles have been used up, dire shortages..USN is now going after the strait of malaccahttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strait_of_MalaccaClearly threatening Chinese trade quite openly and raising the risk of naval confrontation...US marines have already been deployed in seizing ships in Iran; I guess this naval war was what they re-organized them into an anti-shipping force for.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malacca_dilemma

April 23Apr 23 Author Dugin's 4th Political Theory moves onto the Russian Christian orthodox view on globalization and capitalism. Here there are similarities to say, what would happen if the US de-globalized and retreated into the Western hemisphere after many years of MAGA/Trump like rule. America would be become overall a poorer country in terms of national GDP with the cost of living much higher. But there would be be more blue-collar work and more diversified economy like the America before 1972 (the start of US de-industrialization). Perhaps the average american would become better off but the upper-middle class would be destroyed. It would be a working class & lower-middle class society with weak social protections.Dugin writes that the Russians are strongly opposed to globalization, and the implications (Western capital penetrating into Russia and also a market-driven culture and society, and rule by the rich). If globalization is forced upon them (without saying directly this is implying a successful US-NATO backed regime change operation in Moscow) they will fight fanatically to stop this. The 4th political theory's stance on a market-based society is exactly the same as what a socialist or economic liberal in the West would think. Bernie sanders would agree with Dugin that rule by oligarchs/ libertarianism is exploitive and a terrible system. This is quite obvious as the Russian people are inclined towards socialism anyway but the implication of a highly regulated and uncompetitive marketplace would result in a Russian-style economy. The Russians are jacks of all trades and masters of none. Their multi-nationals are not competitive in the global marketplace outside of energy. But this suits them perfectly- and results in a middle-income country. But for people like Dugin, this is OK as they are not materialistic and competitive people but concerned more with a balanced life. The problems with the 4th Political theory so far is that the result is essentially rule by tradition and government bureacracy, as in rule by the oldest and best connected people in a society, which can lead to authortarianism, corruption, and incompetence. Basically Putin's Russia. But Dugin is OK with the trade off. Dugin appears to be sympathetic to Chinese Confucianism and the cyclical, rather than the futuristic nature of history. Russia does not need to be wealthy, it just needs to remain Russian.
