Good point- literally the only way Trump's behavior makes any sense is if he was going to use nuclear weapons. If he does, Hilary Clinton was right....

Professor Nasr has a lot of interesting insights of the internal politics of the Islamic Republic.

Among the most interesting is how the Ayatollah was considered by the hawks in the IRGC as being a weak old man who invited the US- Israeli infiltration and attacks. They strongly disagreed with his soft approach and believe that he invited enemy aggression.

In retrospect they were right- among the hawks of the IRGC is the Ayatollah's son who got his family destroyed. He was is in disagreement with the Ayatollah's policies and was actually NOT in the succession line until he was chosen by the council of experts to replace his father. It was considered inappropriate for the son to replace the father as well for the council of experts because the Revolution was against a hereditary monarchy.

Another interesting aspect was the manner of the Ayatollah's death. He was in hiding during and after the 12 day war but once the Us launched Operation Epic Fury he resurfaced in his office in Tehran, an incredibly suicidal move. Whatever his motives of doing something so dangerous, the death of him and his family has profound religious mythology for the shia muslims.

Nasr also says that the new cadre that has taken over command positions are younger veterans of Iraq & Syria VS the US and Trump/Bibi simply killed off the less aggressive old guys that were themselves Iran-Iraq war veterans.....

Interesting analysis/predictions/food for thought about what is going to happen, and also questioning US military/gov't propaganda over the extremely costly 'rescue' operation.

At the very least.

I truly can't believe he is still in office after everything he says, and does. Each crazy thing dwarves the previous one.

You were right biggrin

The war has escalated....Iranian civilians/infrastructure, US bases and GCC Oil & Gas took a lot of hits over the past 2 days.

Jiang's video summaries the theory of what "really" happened with the pilot rescue operation that has been discussed over the past 48 hrs on social media.

The Pentagon is lying as usual; the US launched a relatively large air-ground special forces operation to seize enriched uranium from Iranian nuclear facilities in the area and terminated the operation from the early stages.

Trump - Hegseth ordered the operation as a means to extract themselves from this war and declare "victory" to the American people. As with everything Trump does, it's about short-term Optics and not long term strategic reality. The failure of the operation caused Hegseth to go on a high level firing spree, including the Army chief of staff.

my youtube feed has been suddenly recommending lots "Black Hawk Down" videos the past 3 days- this awesome movie, like Saving Private Ryan is an infamous piece of Pentagon-Hollywood propaganda that focuses on the "no man left behind" US military tactic which in actuality has been used in failed operations to mask the fact that the mission had failed in front of the American people. The public's attention is then turned towards the "heroism" and extreme self sacrifice of local US military assets as they suffer heavy losses on the rescue mission.

The actual operation that underwrote the presence of American combat units massed in the area gets forgotten/marginalized by the public and the news cycle moves on.....

Statement of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council on the Two-Week Ceasefire and Negotiation Conditions:

These negotiations will begin with complete distrust of the American side on Friday, April 10, in Islamabad, and Iran will allocate two weeks for these negotiations. This period can be extended by mutual agreement. It is necessary to maintain complete national unity during this time and to continue the victory celebrations with strength. The current negotiations are national and a continuation of the battlefield, and it is necessary for all people, elites, and political groups to trust this process, which is under the supervision of the Supreme Leader and the highest levels of the system, and to support it, while strictly avoiding any divisive remarks. If surrendering to the enemy on the battlefield turns into a decisive political achievement in the negotiations, we will celebrate this great historic victory together; otherwise, we will fight side by side on the battlefield until all the demands of the Iranian nation are met. Our hands are on the trigger, and as soon as the enemy makes the slightest mistake, it will be responded to with full force.

— US forces withdraw
— No aggression
— Ending all Security Council resolutions
— Ending all Board of Governors resolutions
— Ceasing all wars on all fronts, including against the heroic Islamic Resistance of Lebanon

The US, even under Obama has a track record of breaking promises with Iran. The last two rounds of negotiations have seen the US use them as a means to kill the diplomats and officials involved. Trump is relying on his uneducated and unqualified zionist son-in law and his zionist golfing buddy to lead nuclear negotiations...

TACO strikes again.

Literally nobody was acting like this was a win except Donald and the Iranians.

She was right about the ceasefire; it lasted merely 12 hours, if that.

Loomie is never satisfied. They’ve already gone through 'a very productive regime change'
