December 4, 200717 yr I miss "real" women like Karen ruling the pages of Victoria's Secret and the fashion shows. Lately all of VS is made up of new girls. (that can't quite compare)
December 5, 200717 yr I miss "real" women like Karen ruling the pages of Victoria's Secret and the fashion shows. And the covers and pages of Vogue, Elle, and so on. I was just reading an interesting thread over on The Fashion Spot, about "best bodies". What was interesting to me was that in about 80 pages, I don't remember seeing one mention of Karen, Tyra, Naomi, Stephanie or Cindy, or Shana Zadrick or Carre Otis or Susan Holmes, or any women that looked like them. There were a couple of mentions of Marisa Miller, but the preferred aesthetic seemed to be for girls who looked, I would say, girlish. Girlish versus womanly. The aesthetic preference seemed to be a bit skinnier and bonier than for, say, someone like Karen (at any point in her career -- even as a teenager I think Karen was more "shapely" than most of the models who were posted into that thread, as having a "best body"). Then again, no one mentioned Kirsty Hume, and I would have thought she would exactly fit the bill based on her figure and the other models posted into the thread. So maybe it was an older models thing. Dunno. And there was a funny thing to me, too: While I don't consider myself a connoisseur of male physiques, I thought that based on their pictures, the guys in the "best bodies" thread looked much better than the girls. (Then again, one picture of Karen Mulder would have changed that. ) It was an interesting thread, to see the zeitgeist.
December 5, 200717 yr yeah exactly i miss them on the covers too. yeah it seems everyone seems to have abandoned these classic supermodels. but they were my favorite and can't be compared EVER!
