Michael* Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 Two Laura Marling numbers from Tuesday evening's live broadcast of Later with Jools Holland. And a great tune by recent Sub Pop signings Still Corners. Quote
donbot Posted October 5, 2011 Author Posted October 5, 2011 Oh Laura Newish video for Grace Woodroofe. Beautiful smokey voice Quote
Michael* Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 Just stumbled upon this magnificent solo track from Vampire Weekend's Rostam Batmanglij. Very Darjeeling Limited. Quote
Michael* Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 Two Laura Marling numbers from Tuesday evening's live broadcast of Later with Jools Holland. Another where that came from... And another performance from the same broadcast, which I'm posting partly as a curiosity and partly because I quite liked it. File under 'really shouldn't work but kinda does'. Quote
donbot Posted October 11, 2011 Author Posted October 11, 2011 ^Interesting Watching The Polyphonic Spree do that song live is one of the most euphoric experiences I've ever had Quote
donbot Posted October 12, 2011 Author Posted October 12, 2011 Haven't heard of these guys before, but they've been around a while. Great song and awesome video (Y) Quote
Michael* Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Another impressive line-up on this week's Jools show. Especially love the brass section on the opening Feist number. Especially for Mr. Pierre... And especially for Mr. Matt... Quote
Michael* Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 ^(Y)Anyone fussed about the Stone Roses' impending comeback? Though I've always been something of a reunion sceptic, I'm actually quite happy about this one - the idea of them getting back together just for a few big gigs didn't really appeal because Ian's voice is pretty awful live - but since they're promising new material, my interest is officially piqued. MattLoveModels Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 How come none of you female musician lovers posted anything about the new St. Vincent album? I really like it! I might see them/her in a couple weeks as well. Quote
Michael* Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 ^I really liked 'Surgeon' but unfortunately, my ears have yet to hear the album. Quote
Squeege Beckenheim Posted October 30, 2011 Posted October 30, 2011 I cant wait for the new Florence & the Machine Album! "Shake it out" is a very solid single I think. Love her. So what do you guys think of Lana del Rey? I love her song "Video Games" but after learning a little bit more about her past and this whole Lizzy Grant thing / the surgery I just really hate that she had to do all this just to get famous. Neverthless - her voice is still the same. Quote
Michael* Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 So what do you guys think of Lana del Rey?I love her song "Video Games" but after learning a little bit more about her past and this whole Lizzy Grant thing / the surgery I just really hate that she had to do all this just to get famous. Neverthless - her voice is still the same. I guess we've all heard the rumblings about her surgeries, her authenticity and whatnot. Still, the music is the only thing I really concern myself with and judging by what little I've heard so far (i.e. that one song) it's really rather good. But how exactly does one go about whistling someone's name? Quote
Michael* Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Another new Best Coast tune, which may or may not feature Johnny Marr. Quote
Michael* Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 New tune from the Black Keys, and the latest to follow in the time-honoured tradition of 'crap dancing' videos. Quote
MattLoveModels Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 Wow, just read about the whole Lizzy Grant thing. Oh well, if you like the music who cares. In other news M83 have released the best double album I've heard in years. Also the song of the year in my opinion Victoria's Secret has it in one of their commercials now Quote
Michael* Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 ^I once saw M83 support Kings of Leon and found them most impressive - wasn't familiar with any of the recent stuff though. Must investigate further! Quote
Michael* Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Latest vid from 2:54, who are fast becoming one of my favourite new bands. Quote
