For months, rumours that former Australian supermodel Gemma Ward would soon be making her comeback have been falling offthe most immaculate lips in the . This week, it was speculated she would make a return to Australian Fashion Week but in the front row rather than on the catwalk. PS hears her modelling comeback may have hit a snag. It is understood Ward had been booked for a major shoot with Vogue Australia, however, the model suddenly pulled out. Editor-in-chief Edwina McCann declined to comment or be drawn on speculation about the Ward shoot - however, the fashion business has been buzzing with gossip that Ward was simply not ''Vogue-ready''. Last month, Ward's manager at IMG, Danielle Ragenard, hosed down speculation Ward had been ordered to lose weight before the Vogue shoot, one rumour claiming she had been told to ''drop two dress sizes''. Ragenard shot down the rumours but remained evasive about the specifics of Ward's comeback, assuring PS only that her charge would be ''looking spectacular''. Ward was spotted on the northern beaches in January and was said to be adhering to a strict diet and exercise regimen. The latest rumours claim she has been at a health retreat in Thailand. In 2004, Ward was at the peak of the cutthroat international modelling game, earning about $4 million a year and the star feature for the biggest names in fashion on the planet. She opted out of the spotlight after the death of boyfriend Heath Ledger in 2008 and the Perth-born beauty, who was discovered when she was just 14, came under incredible scrutiny after she was photographed in 2010 having gained a few pounds. Once a regular on the Sydney party circuit, she has missed several events she was expected to attend in recent months, including the AACTA Awards and the new Christian Dior boutique opening, further fuelling speculation her comeback was not going to plan.
