July 12, 201212 yr Adriana is bigger in certain countries than in others. In the US, in her prime she topped some of the hot list charts, that mattered in terms of exposure on websites (fhm, maxim, etc) but I do believe people recognize her more by her features and through VS than they do her name. A lot of people in the US don't know who Adriana is, and they don't know who Alessandra or Candice are either. They might recognize them upon seeing a picture, but name wise... a lot of people really don't. Even some of the people that watch the Victoria's secret fashion show or see pictures of the girls on sports websites (as most of the VS models are often featured on SI hot clicks)--but even then, people might be able to remember previously seeing the face, but the name recognition isn't always there. A name like Gisele, most people have heard of.Supermodels don't have the exposure, fame, and impact that they did in the 80s/90s. And someone said it in this thread a few posts ago, most people in America couldn't care less about fashion. They watch the VS show to see some hot women in lingerie, but really it's not on their mind after the show is over. Especially men. The majority of my friends don't even know who Candice is, face wise nor name wise..and she's been plastered everywhere through VS. Adriana has been a veteran, and yet some of them either recognize her face and don't know her name or they might have heard the name but can't assign a face.People who tune in to watch the show year after year will definitely know the names and faces of the girls, if not all of them, then the veterans. They do after all name all the girls and show each of their faces in the opening credits . Their names are mentioned several times during the show and they speak of each other and get interviewed throughout the show. Even if the average viewer doesn't care about knowing the names of the angels, they might not forget the names of a few of the angels, especially those who come back to watch it every year. U couldn't have watched the last show without recognizing Miranda and Adriana's name....I'd like to know how well the US ELLE covers of the girls did. I need to know if people cared.I really like the atmosphere of this thread lol...so much fun
July 12, 201212 yr Both of my brothers (aged 29 and 17) watched the show the last 2 years and still probably couldn't tell you what Adriana looks like, or have pictures of all the girls and a list of names and be able to match them. I'm not saying that there are no men who know who Adriana or Alessandra is, just saying that many people don't. The fact that their names are mentioned through out the show isn't saying much, not everyone pays attention to/remembers those things. And even if they were to remember their favorites, whose to say it has to be the ones who are featured the most. It could also be about personal preference. You listed Miranda and Adriana, but not everyone finds them appealing enough to even want to keep in mind or look out for. My older brother really liked Candice during the show and asked me her name during the heavenly bodies segment in 2010, didn't recognize her in any commercials/shows/photos after the fact, even while she was featured on most websites he visited through the year and was heavily promoted during the show. Just an example of how it's possible to watch the show and not have a name stick to you. Most men I know - know the names 'Gisele' and 'Heidi', they'd be able to associate a face to the name.

July 12, 201212 yr ex-chus me. Of course u do realize selling GQ is Adriana's specialty. A men's magazine. Wikipedia says her 2006 GQ cover was the best selling issue of the year. Her 2008 cover, set a record number of visits to the magazine's site. My male cousin last year told me a study conducted proved 48% of men would rather go out on a date with Adriana than watch the the Champions League final (which is watched by millions and millions of men worldwide, bigger than the super bowl). I googled it, it's true. Gisele is my absolute favorite, but I don't think the average man knows her over Adriana. I have friends, both male and female who know Adriana and some know Miranda, and they never google them or visit forums like this to know more about them. The only time they see them is in commercials or the annual show or when they are in the news.. Most arguments about Adriana are usually about how only men care about her. This is new to men .
July 12, 201212 yr Scoring 2 US GQ covers is a great thing and yes it's a men's magazine and that went along with what I mentioned earlier in regards to her being on hot lists (fhm/maxim/etc) and exposed to men. But GQ covers still come down to who is exposed to them. Whether online or physically. People might look at the pictures/cover but they don't have to necessarily buy it or know who the person is. January Jones was on the cover of GQ, do you think anyone who doesn't watch Mad Men is going to remember the name written in average print on the cover of the magazine? It's a mens magazine, but not all men read it. I think men who are into style and read GQ might be more interested in knowing more about fashion/models in general, so maybe subscribers would definitely know who she is. But her cover breaking records still has to do with the people that buy the issue. Don't get me wrong, more men know who Adriana is opposed to some other high fashion models such as Anja Rubik, Lara Stone, or even Daria W. And I'm sure her GQ covers have assisted in that as well as her status as a VS angel for almost a decade now, but I don't know how breaking GQ cover sales still implies that most men know who she is. Most men know the Emma Stones, Scar Jo's, and Angie's because of the fact that they are always in your face and everywhere. Where as models, not so much anymore. Adriana would be one of the more known models if you were to list them, but that still doesn't mean she's known to the average male. If that makes sense.Just like with that poll that you're talking about. In order to participate in it, if you don't know who Adriana is you would have to google her. She's a generally attractive girl, in that respect I think most people would agree. I don't think it's supernatural to pick going out with a supermodel over watching the champions league final. Whether it was Adriana vs. Champions league final...or it was Gisele Bundchen or Miranda Kerr vs Champions league final. Personally, I think it's pretty crazy to say that the average male would know the name Adriana over Gisele. The majority of men who know absolutely nothing about fashion, models, or VS all know Gisele is a supermodel, Thee supermodel. Again, I think a man who is interested in fashion, even men's fashion to the extent of being subscribed to GQ probably knows more about models than the average male does, so I would peg them to know who Adriana is, but how many people are subscribed to GQ? comparing to the masses? And while Adriana is found to be the exotic supermodel and constantly voted on being the 'sexiest' (and yes a lot of men do love her) I think more women care about Adriana than men do. It's probably like that for all models regardless of their sex appeal, except for maybe Kate Upton because she is recognized by the average male in a very constant way...due to the different ways she's marketed through the media and her working with for example the MLB.
July 12, 201212 yr Cherrybomb: So I AM PRETTY SURE ALESANDRA GOT THE FANTASY BRA! Alessandra tweeted she was working with Frankie Foye (VS makeup person, ect.) today, and Frankie just tweeted this not less than an hour later Alessandra Ambrosio @AngelAlessandra Getting my hair done by @frankiefoye !!! Getting back to the groove [pic Frankie Foye @frankiefoye Pins for The Million Dollar Bra http://instagr.am/p/M-_wzGs554/ Good for ale, even though not a huge fan, girls been with them for a while, and I guess its deserved
July 12, 201212 yr Cherrybomb, we know you're a level headed Lima fan and I respected u because u are one of the few people here who can put up a debate/discussion here without making it into a mockery or something like that, but COME ON! There's no other way of putting why/how Adriana sells GQ or how half the men would rather go on a date with her than watch the most watched sports events in the world. It is what it is.U mentioned January. She is famous, I don't watch Mad Men and I know her. And I would remember her if I saw her on a magazine. Most people would.GQ is a popular men's magazine. If Adriana got men to buy the issues with her face on, then she is popular. As Track mentioned, 48% of men would rather go on a date with her. It's pretty obvious that they used her name because she a sex symbol to men. They could have used another name if they thought people are going to google her to know who she is. It's a mere poll, I think most of the men who didn't choose her selected the other option or just moved on, not google her to see how she looks. She's a sex symbol. Had they chosen another model, like Lara stone or Daria for the poll, the result would most probably be different...calling them a suprmodel wouldn't have changed it. If I didn't know Adriana andI had to google her because of a poll, I wouldn't think she's all that. I've always thought the first pictures of her u see when u google her are average at best. Several people told me this. They could've chosen any other model/celeb for the poll, but they know she's the business. The reason and message of the poll is not even Adriana could stop men from watching the game, so obviuosly she is a big deal to many. And I'm sorry, but majority of men don't think Gisele is thee supermodel, I don't even think majority of men know her. Like seroiusly, take it from me, they don't care. To most men, she's a rich famous and attractive supermodel. Many men think Irina is the deal. They don't know how many covers and runway shows Gisele scored. The Kate Uptons are thee supermodels. Tyra, Kate, Heidi are the last ones who are mega famous. Believe it or not.GQ subscribers don't represent all the men in the world, but that poll speaks more volumes. Reality is, Heidi&Tyra are the biggest names VS ever had and probably ever will, then there is Gisele, then Adriana and then the rest. Adriana is considered the girl with the most sex appeal, hence her popularty with men. Gisele although popular with men imo is more of a women's girl due to her flawless fashion career. That's all I have to say.Track, your last post is flawless. How did I not know about that poll?
July 12, 201212 yr I didn't say that Lara or Daria would do as well in a poll like that, but I think a VS angel like Gisele or Miranda etc would. You're blurring the lines between recognition and preference. You're arguing that Adriana is more preferred, I don't really care to agree or disagree with that because I thought the topic of conversation was how recognized she is/her name is. I still don't feel that Adriana has the recognition that some people think she does. Again, she is one of the better known models present day, and through out the 2000's, but better known doesn't mean KNOWN.My statement about men acknowledging Gisele as 'thee model' had nothing to do with her appearance. It had to do with her status. When a man, or even the average person hears the term supermodel. The name and face of Gisele Bundchen is going to come to mind before Adriana. Adriana Lima is a supermodel, but more so within the context of Victoria's Secret (and that is not to discredit her, I know she has done a lot of work outside of VS)--but just saying, she's mostly strictly regarded for her VS work (at least by the masses/general public) Gisele, in MY opinion is the last of the supermodels in terms of status, vogue covers, recognition --that can be compared to the models of the 90s. The work she has done outside of VS is unmatched, in terms of models in our day and age.I'm not saying gracing GQ isn't a big deal, there's a reason why she broke records and I'm sure she's prompted more men to buy those magazines than other models have. And yes the men who go through that spread are going to remember her name. But considering the population of the US, and the # of males, even within a certain age bracket, you can't really deny that most people, most men, don't care about GQ.
July 12, 201212 yr ^^ VS really don't care about Ale. If that;s the bra, it's the ugliest yet. That thing can't be worth more than 1 million
July 12, 201212 yr Please don't tell me this is the million dollar bra? :yuckky: :yuckky: :yuckky: where is this from? lol if so, shittier and shittier as the years go by. Sigh.
July 12, 201212 yr I found it from tumblr and yes its worth at least $1 million. I just hope its not the vsfs fantasy bra.

I wasn't taliking about her looks. I meant her status. Heidi and Tyra are the only 2000s models who have the same recognition as the 90s girl even if they are considered lingerie models. After them, it's Gisele, but really, she isn't as famous as some people think. I've gotten a lot of "Gisele who?" from both europe annd Africa to think differently she's definitely the most famous 2000s girl, but she really isn't known by the average person, it's either u know her name or u know her face. Models generally aren't famous as they once were. Most people don't even know what a supermodel really is, they just throw it around... A vs angel IS a supermodel to majority of the peopleI think everyone here will agree that Gisele is the ish, but the average person don't really know.
July 12, 201212 yr Nobody managed to save the picture before it got removed? If Ale got it congratulations to her, it was about time& the tweet did say "The Million Dollar Bra" so maybe it is worth a million? i just hope is not as ugly as last years regardless of the price
July 12, 201212 yr ^It wasn't a picture of the bra. Just a picture of some safety pins. There are other girls there also, so we could've spoke too soon about it being Ale, but hopefully not.
July 12, 201212 yr Who else is there? I know Erin is there because Russel said on facebook but i doubt it's her. I said this on tFS but as much as i want Ale to finally get the bra i don't feel like she was ready to be back with VS right now after i saw her candids from last week, there's going to be a lot of photoshop happening there.Candice is there too but she's doing the Halloween stuff & Lais is there too as well as Miranda so basically it could be anyone because most of the girls are shooting today
