@Jade Bahr Well, I finally watched Furiosa. It's a little weaker than Fury Road, but it's still great.

Chris Hemsworth is playing the silly goose again. This time with an extra silly nose in case we didn't get it. I couldn't help but wondered if at some point in his career someone told him and everyone else in Hollywood that he isn't capable to pull of a serious character. However I liked him and his perfomance still more than I thought. He also seemed to have the time of his life.

Dementus was the main weakness of this movie imo. I didn't like Chris's performance at all. But I don't put the blame entirely on him - the director and screenwriter apparently tried to make a villain with a perverted sense of humor, but he turned out to be too goofy and didn't cause me anything but irritation. He was too out of place.

I re-watched parts of Fury Road to prep for this viewing, I remember that this sandstorm scene struck me hard in theaters- it was when I realized that I was watching something really special:

Another weakness of the film is that it doesn't have such visual beauty. At least for me. Not that I'm complaining about Furiosa's visual, but it wasn't as breathtaking as in Fury Road. Even a few years later, watching on TV screen, I was still mesmerized by the cinematography of Fury Road.

Anya did an excellent job with her eye acting. I also think she did a great job playing the role of a young Furiosa and comparing her to Charlize, who played a mature Furiosa, is not quite right.

Welcome Tom Burke. I really liked him and Anya together. Great chemistry. He was also one of the few characters I really cared for.

💯. He was amazing, my 2nd fav character in the movie (after Furiosa lol). Very charismatic and memorable. The rest of the cast (except Chris) were great

I was satisfied with the lots and lots of action scenes. I heard people whining of the amount of CGI but to me it all looked decent and I wasn't that much bored. Normally I'm really not a sucker for it but I knew of course such scenes were essential for this story/movie.

Same here. Although this is not the level of Fury Road, the action scenes were of enough quality and a lot of epic sequences.

Overall, I enjoyed this movie very much, so I'll rate it as 7 or 7,5. It's a great action movie and definitely my cup of tea

Great list.

I personally find Austin and Timmy's faces annoying to look at, and that's partly why I haven't watched Dune or finished Masters of the Air.  The Jacob guy is rocking the K-pop (effeminate/androgynous aesthetic).

3 of Male stars in this list are pretty effeminate.

Overall (I haven't gotten around to finishing Furiosa yet- I've been revisiting Fury Road  & the world building to prep for my viewing) from what I can see Furiosa is not made with the same attention to detail and difficulty level as Fury Road.

There are various documentaries out about the Production of Fury Road- it was very difficult to make and Miller was planning it (Furiosa & Fury Road) since the early 2000s.  In a way it is a masterpiece that is rarely made, as it took so much effort.  They also custom built a fleet of cars for the film.

It kind of reminds me of the production process of first 3 Lord of the Rings and Apocalypse Now-  These films are so hard to make and require so many years of effort so the final result is much different from the typical hollywood hack-job.

I agree. But it also seems to me that since VFX have replaced (mostly) practical effects, blockbusters have started to look less spectacular. That's why I have a mad respect for Christopher Nolan, he uses minimum of VFX and no CGI.

It's the type who's popular right now I think. Even though the 90s and 00s had some pretty boys too like

Leo DiCaprio (sry him again 😅),

And Johnny Depp of course.

(can't believe 2 of them are already dead 🤯).

I'm not really a Chalamet fan (even though I think he can act) but I think Austin Butler is ridiclious hot. He also was a force of nature in ELVIS :baronfaint:

I heard he was good in Elvis.  didn't see it yet.

Of the 00s stars you posted to me most of them aren't effeminate to me except Ryan & Leo when they were young.  It seems like Gen Z has taken it to the next level.

Overall it appears that hollywood male stars are getting more and more effeminate since the 1960s.  I think the stars popular in the 00s/1990s were very different than those in say the 1980s and earlier.  I think the global love for K-pop is telling.

This was one of the most popular images in the 20th century (in the US): The Marboro Man.  It didn't make it into the 21st.

To me they are all the same type straight from the Hollywood "the young and beautiful model" cataloge: pretty faces, tall, full hair, plump lips, bright smile, white teeths, dreamy eyes, long lashes, strong jawline, flawless skin, body lanky and more or less hairless.

Jude Law is a great actor- but never found him effeminate in The Talented Mr. Ripley.  The immediate impression he gives in that movie and others at the time was a high born, arrogant rich guy with a trust fund and a big social life.

A good litmas test for me is if the guy's facial features are delicate enough that they could get away with looking like a pretty woman in drag..lol  Austin is one of those people.  Timmy looks like one of those gay boy-toys that Roman officials would bring to bathhouses.. (or Catholic Priests)

Jacob in his get-up looks flamboyantly gay like JoJo Bizarre Adventure:

Jud is always perfect. He cans play good or bad in his roles. I love some of his films (Closer, Cold mountain, IA, Mr Ripley, Holiday, Sherlock Holmes, Gattaca...), I want to watch some more newest.

I guess you never watched OSCAR WILDE with him? I'm pretty confident he could pull off a drag back then easily. Maybe his big hands would give his true sex away lol

I agree those guys are next level feminine. BUT... aren't most asian people rather feminine? They mostly have such delicate facial features and zero facial and body hair.
