Take part of the whole story and use it to say the other side is the problem. When the reality is always more complicated and nuanced. For example, if 20 states do something that doesn't work out, people will only point out that is didn't work in states run by the party they don't like. Political discourse should revolve around truths, not lies and deception. 4 minutes ago, jkjk said: About the mask thing. The mask conversation should be easier. If you choose to wear one, it's because you can't be sure if you are a carrier and you don't want to be the one to get someone else sick. Yep, but you can't force people to wear them though, just highly encourage it. Quote

I really don't know laws well enough, but governments make people do all sorts of things for safety reasons. I'm sure I could find a lawyer to explain why they can't and why they can because law seems to always be up for interpretation. As a side thought, maybe part of the problem with politicians is that too many are lawyers and lawyers always change their stance depending on what the client wants. Of course, there are so many problems with politicians, it probably doesn't matter. Quote

I'm not getting a barcode or anything like that, but in 50 years kids will have grown with it as their normal. I don't like lawyers, politicians, and bankers. Quote

Cult Icon Posted May 23, 2020 Posted May 23, 2020 Patton Oswalt's new Netflix special is the least funny he's ever done. It's well written- typical of patton- and verbally expressive but it's just not funny at all- more like a bunch of stories that are entertaining. Quote

This new one is about being 50 years old. I believe Bill Cosby had one like that, too. I am doing Tom Segura's Ball Hog right now. Quote
Cult Icon Posted May 24, 2020 Posted May 24, 2020 Ball Hog: 4 out of 5, solidly funny and creative throughout, better than the last Netflix special. Quote
jkjk Posted May 24, 2020 Posted May 24, 2020 Michael Bay wants to make a movie about the virus set 2-3 years in the future where the virus is mutating and all the problems that would come with that. No, for so many reasons, no. Quote

I would build a particle physics research facilty and launch a big fucking space telescope. Apparently, Mrs. Bezos got $35 billion, so half of it is 17.5. The LHC in Geneva cost around $7-8 billion, let's say that would be my research investment. Then, I would use the rest of the money to set up a satellite company (a satellite is between $50 and 400 million and I have lots of idea for thriving opportunities). That would be my business investment. Over time, when the satellite company has become very profitable, I would reinvest my money in a big space telescope (not as expensive as Hubble - based on what I know of the technology, I think with $6 billion I could build a beautiful beast). So, that's settled. Quote

No, for so many reasons, no. Hollywood (and the industry in general) doesn't know how to make movies about pandemics. Their plots are never realistic and they overestimate the capacities of research (you can't find a cure against a disease in a couple of days, yet that's what we see in many movies). They should make an historical movie on Pasteur. Much more insteresting and it would give hope to a pessimistic population. Quote

So great. I feel so safe when the Internet is censored by Big Tech. Freedom of speech is useless, there's only one voice that matters, because freedom is slavery and the Ingsoc is love. I feel so much more protected now that youtube gives the monopoly on truth to an entity that: - denies the existence of Taiwan (BTW, one of the most efficient States in terms of fighting the covid ) - said that masks were not efficient, but then said they were - said that lockdown was useless, but then said it was compulsory - etc. BTW, i's OK to be wrong on issues, nobody knows everything. That's why we have freedom of speech Quote
