Putin pushed all of his chips onto the table for an operation that I find hard to understand in terms of long-term strategy.

 

Even if he achieved his short-term goal (kill Zelensky and his government and install a puppet regime), surely he must know that a long and bloody insurgency awaits him? One that will be incredibly unpopular domestically. And very costly. So what is the point? Especially considering the cost in terms of international reputation and severe sanctions.

Even though I am not very well informed on the matter but don't know what to make of these at the moment TBH! Didn't Zelensky get support from the Ethnic Russians in Eastern Ukraine to help him get elected? I am not sure if Russians blame Zelensky personally but the smuggling  of these so called Nazi miilitia into the Ukrainian National Guard and the Civilian Goverment has been a major flash point. At least according to the media commentary over the last 2-3 years. Didn't they go on to ban Russian Language from Ukraine altogether? If true that would be a huge red flag.

Still, what military corps in the 21st Century would have  a fucking Wolfsangel on their uniform?

I don't know how sensible it is to paint Ukrainians with such a broad brush. It is a multi-national/demographically divided country by all accounts.

are these neo-nazi gangs made up of people that are slavs or people of NWE ethnic background?  Unless they are Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Dutch, German, British, etc they don't really have any business playing as nazis..

The russians have been doing a lot of artillery/missile & air attacks today with the usual consequences to civilian property.

I really dont know. Ukraine is pretty much a fake country like Belgium,carved out by the Great Powers for their geopolitical interests.

There are also neo-nazi gangs in Russia, which is pretty weird given that Nazi ideology is obsessed with race.   Like the Ukrainian "nazis", they all look like slavs in photos/videos...

 

The Nazis classified the slav as a subhuman.  The racial overtones of the War in the Eastern Front was also that of a race war between "Aryans" vs the Slavs & Jews.

These "militias" are actually gangs though?   I find the term militia to be too exaggerated, I never use it for white supremacists.

Aren't they part of the National Guard now? That is pretty significant IMO.  As I said earlier, I am not very well informed on these guys, or Ukraine in general. :IDK:

A proper armed force should at least have heavy weapons and logistics (supply chain, vehicles, mortars/artillery, maybe some light armored fighting vehicles) to actually perform sustainable combat for prolonged periods of time.   This means that they also have all sorts of training and a military-style leadership.

 

If it's just a club of men with small arms, shave their heads, and do black market/arms dealing/ drugs for $ they resemble gangsters than a proper militia to me.   In a fight these people would last a matter of hours at best against an organized military force.

 

Of course, if these kooks are recruited in a nation's military then they can be considered factor-inputs into the system, and under the command of others.  And no longer what they once were.
