October 16, 201212 yr No clue as to why, but I think it's known as 'Philosopher's Stone' in the UK (and I'm guessing elsewhere in Europe too) and 'Sorcerer's Stone' in the US.
October 16, 201212 yr It's yet another name in Dutch. I guess it just depends one where you look first, and for me as student that's wikipedia
October 16, 201212 yr Strange, I know. I'm not at all educated in the Potter universe so I couldn't tell you the reason for the change, I just remember a story doing the rounds back then that the scenes mentioning the stone were filmed twice - once with the actors saying 'Sorcerer's' for the US audience and once with them saying 'Philosopher's' for the UK.
