Stormbringer
^ Amazing! One of the best guitarists in rock history, no doubt. On a heavier note, I love these solos by Dimebag Darrell Cemetery Gates, first solo starting at 1:00; second solo at 4:59 Floods, solo starting at 3.51 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GiVI_c0G1pw

Stormbringer
^ Love The Edge's guitar work.Rather simple, but he does an amazing work with the effects (such as delays, etc).Best thing is he is immediately recognizable.
Stormbringer
A wonderful guitar solo, by George Harrison in his song Something, which appeared on the Beatles' album Abbey Road. The guitar work on that whole album is one of the best the band achieved. The same can be said about Paul McCartney's bass lines: absolutely inspired. The solo here clearly shows us Harrison's style on lead guitar: quite sober and every note on it's right place. A wonderful guitar solo with no need for ultra speed or virtuoso techniques. Melody above all else here. Solo starting at 1:42 (Couldn't find a better sounding version on Youtube...)

Joe > Average
Thanks guys ! Good point about musicality being able to carry a solo as well .
Stormbringer
^ I think that musicality is the most important aspect about a solo. Be it a guitar solo or anything else. I'm not denying virtuoso techniques or great speed when playing, I actually like those aspects on a guitar solo too. I have nothing against a good shred. But I think pyrotechnics shouldn't be the center of the attention but something that should work for the music itself, and not the other way around.
