October 16, 200519 yr chisox took are now 1 game away from taking the ALCSunless the angels make a great comeback, i seriously doubt they're winning this thing.
October 17, 200519 yr My 'stros struggled at the plate today but kicked ass on the mound. Pulled it out. woohoo!
October 17, 200519 yr chisox won...and i'm strangely elated for them... anyway...that double play to end the game for the 'stros was truly KICK ASS.
October 18, 200519 yr Those Angels just needed to be put out of their misery. hehe <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, the Angels got ASSES KICKED!!! It sucks, especially for a West Coaster like myself. However, I don't dislike the White Sox, and I wouldn't mind seeing them WIN IT ALL!!! Plus, they have like 5 West Coasters on the team, and John Garland and Bobby Jenks are from the LA, 818, SFV, JUST LIKE ME!!! (Y) Jenks was born in Mission Hills, and Garland went to Kennedy High School in Granada Hills.
October 18, 200519 yr I hope the Astros advance into the World Series. It would be nice to see the White Sox and Astros duke it out for that championship they've both been waiting for.
October 18, 200519 yr My 'stros all the way!!ugh, they're leavin' too many on base again tonight...grrr
October 18, 200519 yr I am curious, k dub, when you put stuff in capitals, is your intent emphasis or something else?
October 18, 200519 yr Funny thing is, I called Pujols' homerun. With 2 outs in the top of the 9th inning, I told one of my friends that Astros better not pop the champange yet. (I was thinking of the story of Game 6 of 1986 World Series when the Red Sox played the Mets at Shea. Red Sox personnel brought champagne into the clubhouse in the bottom of the 9th inning with the Mets trailing, and when the Mets won the game they had to quickly remove it.) When Eckstein got that cluch 2 out hit, I said, "Pujols is going to hit a 3-run homerun....I can feel it". This game will be a ESPN Classic for years to come.Jimmy Changa, I think your Astros are doomed. You guys are going to have to go to St. Louis - without momentum - and try to win 1 more game. That will be tough since Busch Stadium is tough place to win.
October 18, 200519 yr WOW, what a big hit by Pujols. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yo mayn, that was on some KIRK GIBSON SHIT!!! However, its possible that the home run Pujols hit MIGHT BE DEEPER THAN THAT!!! The Gibson home run won a game in the World series. The Pujols home run could get the CARDINALS IN!!! I'm still in shock right now. :| But to answer your question Cain, yes, when I put stuff in capitals, my intent is emphasis.
October 18, 200519 yr as usual, mo kicks ass from: Delivery Man of the Year Rivera named DHL Delivery Man of YearAward recognizes most outstanding relief pitcher of season By Mark Feinsand / MLB.com NEW YORK -- Mariano Rivera may be picking up his first career Cy Young Award next month, but the Yankees' closer earned another honor on Thursday, when he was named the inaugural recipient of the DHL Delivery Man of the Year Award. Rivera, in his ninth season as the Yankees' closer, finished with 43 saves (fourth in the Majors), a 1.38 ERA and 80 strikeouts in 78 1/3 innings pitched. He allowed just 50 hits and 18 walks, posting a 0.87 WHIP and a .177 opponents' batting average. After blowing his first two save opportunities of the season -- against the Red Sox, no less -- Rivera converted his next 31 chances from April 9 through Aug. 11. "I didn't put any emphasis on the way I started; the season wasn't going to be based on that," Rivera said last month. "People started doubting me, but I don't pay attention to that. I know what I can do, I know who I am and what I'm capable of. I knew the season wasn't going to be like those two games. You can't judge a player on the first two games." Rivera said that he didn't use his early-season struggles as motivation. He simply put everyone's doubts behind him in the same manner in which he disposes of a blown save. "I don't work like that," Rivera said. "I know what I'm capable of doing, so I'm not out to prove people wrong. It was just a matter of time. I wasn't worried at all." "The number of years he's pitched so effectively is ridiculous," said manager Joe Torre. "It's still brand new for him. To me, that's all about what's important. I'm sure he's excited that it's still important. It's not a job for him. It's a profession, but there are other people who rely on him." Rivera received 39,964 of the votes cast, almost 125,000 overall. His 33 percent of the overall vote pushed him ahead of the other nine finalists: Washington's Chad Cordero; Houston's Brad Lidge; San Diego's Trevor Hoffman; Minnesota's Joe Nathan; Chicago's Dustin Hermanson and Cliff Politte; St. Louis' Jason Isringhausen; Boston's Mike Timlin; and Seattle's Eddie Guardado. In recognition of this honor, DHL will donate $5,000 in Rivera's name to a local chapter of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, the official charity of Major League Baseball. In addition, Rivera will be recognized in a special advertisement appearing in Friday's USA Today. The nominees were selected by a Major League Baseball "yellow-ribbon" panel that includes Hall of Fame pitcher Dennis Eckersley; Darryl Hamilton, former Major League outfielder and MLB Radio host; Jerome Holtzman, the official MLB historian and a member of the writer's wing of the Hall of Fame; Rick Sutcliffe, 1984 NL Cy Young Award winner, ESPN and MLB International broadcaster; and Bob Watson, MLB's vice president of on-field operations.
October 18, 200519 yr Yeah, he's the best ever.I have never heard of this award. Does it replace the "Rolaids Relief Man of the Year" award?

I was like, no way, this can't happen again....we were one freakin' strike away. Damn that was a punch in the gut....anyway.The Astros won in St. Louis once after a loss, they can do it again. We got The Rocket pitching tomorrow night. All we can do is try again.
