fery Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 Hmm so I totally saw this thread at tFS, and let my feelings out. Okay so I wanted to know how you guys are offline, like you everyone knows a lot of the models that are very popular here. i.e Natasha, Hana, Raquel, Daria, etc. You're a fan of the work, you know them, you like their runway walk, you can basically point them out while glancing through a magazine. You and most people on this forum now them. But when you get offline, its much different; people don't even know there is a person named Daria (most of the time) and they just see a model and they'll be like oh pretty girl. I refuse for my friends to just say that, I point out the models, tell them there names. Make them remember. Anyways, continuing do you talk the same as you talk online with your friends, family, etc. about models? I do, well just my mom; she understands and feeds my obsession. Bids stuff on ebay for me of my favorite models...and saves pictures of models that I like from magazines...sometimes she even records FTV videos for me. I know she's the best and can cook the hell out of schnitzel . But that's the only person I really have to talk too...the rest. Hmm dumb as boards when it comes to models and fashion. So what are you like offline? The same....or different? And if there is thread like this...please merge. Quote
Nicola Trunfio Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 ha! this weekend we walked with my brother and passed through some shopwindow there was a huge posters of flavia de oliveira and caroline trentini. and i said their names, brother was really surprised haha Quote
fery Posted August 6, 2007 Author Posted August 6, 2007 I did the same when Raquel had her Vuttion campaign...my friends were like wtf? Quote
Fashion_Princess Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 Hey! When I went to a Victoria's Secret store and I saw a poster of Adriana Lima I was like "that's a really pretty picture of Adriana" and the lady who worked there looked at me in surprise and said "Wow! You even know the models names?" I think that around my family and good friends I talk about my obssessions, but when I first go out in public I usually stay quiet. People can get so annoyed over models and tv shows, if you know what I mean. Quote
eNe Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 Great thread fery! The only discussion I make with my friends about models is when we turn the channel to FTV, and see Gemma there. My closer friends know that I like her a lot, and they go like "Oh, Ene here's your aussie"(they don't now her name, so they call her the aussie). Than one of the other guys makes some stupid joke like "Oh, there are lot's of things I can get from her !", and I go like "The only thing you'll get from her is a cup of tea at my crib" Quote
Expresso Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 Yeah, now you mention it, people usually don't think of me to be one of the girls interested in models. Now I think of it, maybe it is a bit weird. I'm not fashion obsessed, like my friends are (exclaiming things like "I got the new DG sunglasses!") and you usually find me in sports clothing. I'm either working the bag or dancing my ass off. So when I bought a mag with because it had an Ana BB editorial in it, my friends were really surprised. (The "you know who that is? You're not even intrested in fashion" conversation.) They were even more surprised when I pointed out Bianca Balti in the "Gimme some sugar" ads ;D exclaiming "how can you tell who someone is from a picture that just shows her lips?!" They were pretty freaked out by that, probably suspecting me of being a lesbian That's actually the reason I keep my interests to myself. I've more or less always been an outcast during my childhood and teenage years and the fear of becoming one again is a fear that's hard to shake, although stupid. My friends like me for the freak that I am and this new revelation is just cracking them up. One of them likes it so much, she's constantly showing up with mags and pointing out ads on the street, asking who the models are. I must say I'm always proud if I know their names (and I usually do.) Since Alessandra's currently all over the place (atleast where I'm at) that's the model we discuss a lot and I recently bought Petra Nemcova's book when I saw it. So people, visiting Bellazon isn't a waste of time, you actually pick up a lot of knowledge Quote
enVY Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 i'm totally different offline, i'm very shy and pretend that i don't know anything about models. i don't want people to think i'm a model freak. and when i see a model ad or editorial when i'm with family and friend i would say "who is she? she's pretty" just so my family or friend could no that they exist. I used to hide my obsession for martial arts, models, music taste....because it was different from the interests of the "popular ones." Now currently, I don't have many friends, but the friends I do have accept me for who I am. Having a load of friends who are friends with the role you're playing is useless. Why be shy? What's wrong with being a "model freak"? I'm one. Look at this forum. There are LOADS of "model freaks." And if you quit pretending and admit it you might find out some of your friends are too. (Read story above) And you know what? They might like you more for not being a freaking "follower." Sorry for the cliché "come out of the closet" advise, but I recognized myself in you, and I made a stupid mistake for being a pretender. You don't have to make the same mistake. Quote
enVY Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 well my sister knows about me been a model freak, she think i have no life whatsoever that i just admire people beauty that i don't even know about them, and i get teased a lot from her and she think i'm lesbian also which i'm not. and i don't want everybody to think the way my sister thinks about me. by the way i'm not a teen i'm older than you. Quote
fery Posted August 6, 2007 Author Posted August 6, 2007 Why would she think you are a lesbian? Because you appreciate beauty? That's the way I look at it...I just appreciate beauty...and all kinds. Caroline Winberg, and Flavia De Oliveria...how different can they get? Its just beauty appreciation not a sex fantasy. Quote
enVY Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 i told my friend one time about josie maran and she agree that she was beautiful. she said i kind off resemblance her. i think she was just polite to say that because she knows that i think josie's beautiful. she probably though that i wanted to hear that from her. which i don't think i look nothing like josie. i'm dark skin, dark hair and dark eyes. Thiago. Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 When I started liking models, Alessandra was my ultimate #1 I was obsessed I used to talk about her to some friends and I always used to get the vibe from them that I'm talking about something really boring And there are people who say it's gay <_< Quote

NFD Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 I don't really have the kind of relationship with my mum that I could point out a model and says shes my favourite, I just wouldn't do it. My dad, well as much as he likes to point out women with nice bodies to me, I don't. Discussing who you think is attractive with your father, for me, is somewhat weird. Maybe it stems down to the fact that when I was young every time I cried I got told off, now I'm not open with my feelings and emotions, unless I'm with someone I'm really close to.I talk to my friends about models in passing, but I know if I started constantly talking about them I would probably be told to shut it. They don't share an interest. Can't say I'm much of a model freak though. Quote

She's always happy when a german starts appearing in the fashion runways. (hence why she thinks heidi is the prettiest VS angel currently and nadja, and claudia are the greatest models ever ) Quote
MattLoveModels Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 I wont go and name every model I recognize while im in the mall (which is a lot of models) but if someone asks me who she is i'll tell them. Anyone that knows me know I know who everyone is Quote
