This is what happens when people see the world through modern lenses. Diversity is not our strength. Rewarding competence is our strength. The skin color should never matter when you build a submarine.
Hiring people for their skin color is a mistake. The only thing that matters is competence (and in the case of a book adaptation, ressemblance with the original characters). Diversity is not our strength. Rewarding competence is our strength. If the character was written as black, the he should be black. Same for white, ginger, blonde, etc.
Tifa is a great female character, beloved by most fans. Not (just) because she has big bewbs, but because she has a kind feminine energy. She doesn't behave like a toxic feminist. That's why she receives a lot of genuine attention. Women who get attention, while they behave terribly, will get a crooked form of attention (deceitful and self-serving).
It kind of reminds me of this movie
I recently connected with a former friend from High school. She was the first model-material girl I met in real life... and she had the name to be someone famous. I liked her, we had lots of fun together. It turns out she became a marketing girl... I thought she would've been a chemist (or a model).
