  6. People are so uninspired these days. Couldn't agree more with Ruimy here. Fandango Poll of 10 Most Anticipated of 2025 is Depressing It doesn’t matter one bit to general audiences that next year we’re getting new films from Paul Thomas Anderson, Wes Anderson, Lynne Ramsay, Yorgos Lanthimos, Terrence Malick, Josh Safdie, Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu and more. Fandango, the U.S.'s leading online movie ticketing service, has surveyed more than 9,000 ticket-buyers to find out which movies they are most excited to see next year, and the list is absolutely depressing. Not a single original film on the list. All of these are either remakes, reboots, spin-offs, or sequels. It’d be best to stick with our recently published 107 Most Anticipated Films. Check back a year later, and many of these will turn up on a list of the most disappointing films of the year. Hey, at least this is good news for Tom Cruise who desperately needs ‘Mission: Impossible 8’ to be a hit next year. Also, is it at all concerning that James Gunn’s $300M “Superman,” and the kickstart to his much-buzzed DCU, is only #9 on the list? I mean, “The Accountant 2” is ahead of Supes! The film probably needs a trailer to build up some kind of momentum, but maybe audiences just don’t care for another Superman. I’m still scratching my head at “Captain America: Brave New World” being #1 — did participants know that Chris Evans is no longer part of the franchise? Regardless, Superhero movies make up nearly a third of the list — “Thunderbolts” is the only notable absentee — and this represents the sad state of affairs currently inflicting general moviegoing.
