  1. Sophia just recently became in charge as the main designer though. I think she's only been around for 4 years (including this year). Before 2013, she was working with Todd as the secondary designer.
  2. Oh, Sophia still is. I should change was to is, HAHAHA. But yeah, if Jane could design costumes and Sophia was just in charge of accessories and jewelry, we might see certain costumes come to life. But AFAIK, Jane is just an artist.
  3. I like Jane's drawings better because it's not really her fault that the sketches don't come to life. Sophia was the one in control of what gets added and taken away from the drawing. Todd at times loves to leave his drawings incomplete, while Jane really painted down the details on the sketches. I have not seen an artist who could really imagine and make an outfit look good, some examples include Maria Borges and Cindy Bruna's costume concept from TRA. It's a pity she can't design costumes, otherwise I think she'd have a degree of say in what stays and what doesn't.
  4. I'm always surprised by the differences between Todd & Jane's drawings. Todd's drawings were usually a bit more ... cartoony if that's the right word whilst Jane's drawings usually were more modernized and proportionate. Yet, Todd's drawings were the ones that really came to life most of the time, while 60% of Jane's drawings undergoes a drastic change, like the wings or the costume. A pity because Jane had the imagination but Todd knew what it takes to bring a drawing/costume to life.
  5. I kinda wanna see Fernanda Ly get cast for this year's show. Somehow think she'll fit in with PINK with her looks, but she seems like a 50-50 for me. In some shots, she looks like this random kawaii chick you'll find in Harajuku streets and on others, you have this scary look HF lady who probably won't have a place in VS' runway. Probably with some makeup on she'll look good, but reminds me slightly of Xiao Wen. Speaking of which, I like her but don't think she fits in with VS' show. But given that the show is in Shanghai and they could use more Asians, she's a good filler for PINK.
  6. The Road Ahead grew on me, it's still a mess but it had an explosive energy and really got me hyped for the rest of the show. And I don't think another Ballet De Fluers will happen soon. Fairy Tale/Exotic Butterflies were probably the recent version of BDF, poor man's version maybe.
  7. Anything that has Behati either opening/closing, or getting the FB is guaranteed to result in a show that disappoints. Sorry guys, just my two cents but Behati's boring now. 2 years ago when the Behandice fans were talking about Behati FB, Behati Open, Behati Closing, it was already mildly annoying. And when she got off last year, I was happy that there was a year of silence from the Behati fans. This year, almost every VS fan groups are licking VS' shoes by talking about how much they love Behandice that it almost feels like the hate for Bee is coming back. I loved her when she was in PINK, but from 2013 onwards, everything about Behati was just annoying. Even on those VS confession pages, you get anonymous confessors trying to fill the page with "Behati should get the FB this year". So I honestly hope she never gets the FB for another year at least, don't come back even. Even though she worked the hardest, she put in so little effort to honor the recognition VS gave her. The new angels are the focus now and it should really stay that way. I can take another year of Taylor, Stella, and definitely a few more years of Elsa, Josephine, Sara (probably). Side note, Martha has been doing less work for VS this year. Possibility of her getting dropped soon?
  8. I will go as far as say that, in comparison to Todd's designs, Sophia's vision of fashion is much more modernized. And is bralette the hype now with all that feminist talk about how traditional bras are harmful to a lady's boobs?
  9. Personally disagree. I follow this guy too but a lot of his designs are more culturally driven than lingerie, and a lot of them have haute couture elements in it. He does have some good designs tho, not gonna lie. I think joseelizondo on ig deserves VS' attention, his graphic design is on point.
  10. If Sophia gets kicked out of the team, it also means we won't be seeing most of our regulars back and also less wings. But an educated search on IG shows that Sophia was at 2017 VS Fittings a week ago, that means she's still in. You know when you said Sophia hates anything remotely sexy, the ironic part of it is whenever she describes an outfit, the only word she has going is "sexy" and "sensual"
  11. I think Todd left to pursue his own business, but I think you also mean "Can someone explain to me if there was some shade going on between Todd and the other designers" right? I was wondering the question myself since 2013, I honestly thought he was just sidelined to make way for Sophia, but then I gradually found out he left. Also, I praaaaaaaaaaaaaaay that Sarah Potempa has the brains to at least make the looks/hair not boring this year. Getting tired of small curls, big curlios please. Also, bringing back sex appeal? Did Sophia get kicked off the designing theme? Doesn't sound like Sophia at all.
  12. You guys were right about VSFS 2017 happening in China. Weibo fashion pages are posting up the VS Model Search competition. They were also promoting videos of Sui/Ming doing core workouts, I guess its to promote the search? Also, I thought once you're a fit model, you're a fit model until VS decides to let you go? @Clauds they were so in love with Cindy. I'm willing to bet 50 dollars Constance Jablonski won't be back for this year's fashion show.
  13. More leaks please. But femme fatale in black again? Feels like Sexy Shadow Dreams to me. But with them reusing old shoes, I'm prepared for a let down. Seems to me that perhaps the one thing we haven't caught on with VS is that they're trying to make the brand more accessible to middle income consumers, and that their focus is diversity rather than exclusivity. Think about the fact that they've been expanding out to Europe and now Asia. My money's still on VS choosing Ming to be their Asian spokesperson, she's the best English speaking Asian that they have. And I'm sure Liu Wen will be back, its in her country for god's sake. Not sure about the rest. I just wanna see Sui's name get mentioned by Sophia on VSFS, any form of mention is great. Wishing for Sui to be an angel now is pretty much useless. Eh.. but Elsa was 27 when she became Angel, maybe Sui/Ming being an angel at 28 is still a thing. At least let this be a good farewell for Sui cause shit's too old for her. Also, still not buying the Shanghai show because it hasn't been confirmed by VS.
  14. Just gonna park myself here since I'm early this year, mainly because I'm still jobless lmfao. Anyways, do we have confirmation confirmation of sorts that the show is in China? I know everyone's placing their money on China, but nothing official has been said. That said, with China being the focus, I can see them using an Asian for opening/closing like how Joan Smalls did for Dark Angels. I hope VS doesn't start shits like "Angels Greeting Fans in Chinese", then we get people like Lily A/D saying "Ni Haoooo" in her posh accent, or Adriana Lima with "Wo Ai Zhong Guo!". And that supermodel search, questionable but possible. But why? I thought VS didn't want to do that sort of hunt because the last time it happened, Kylie Bisutti exposed VS. Btw, to those of you asking about an Asian angel. I've said this before but VS approached Ming for a contract but nothing came out of it. Guess we know whose the favored Asian in VS' eyes. I think we can expect better leaks this year because it's China, online netizens there have a way with digging stuffs. I'd advise y'all to get a Weibo account too, and just join groups to see what users say. Let the madness begin!
  15. So the thread is dead again. And without any new year greetings or farewell from everyone? Well... see y'all this coming November. Belated New Year too :D.
  16. Maybe I should get some men's cologne from VS....
  17. Asian Americans were probably the ones who have had something to say about Bill. Being Asian myself, I'm actually quite fine with the dragon. There were numerous complaints from China natives about how outfits like Elsa, Adriana and Kendall's were offensive, yet praising Liu and Ming's outfit. Quite frankly, Liu and Ming's outfits look just as bad. It's just bias playing along. When you see your own ethnic group walking in a culturally befitting outfit, everyone compliments a word or two but none for the rest. That's what I meant by Shanghai not happening. I think VS wants it to be in such a way that not a single person complains about their Asian reference before making VSFS Shanghai happen. That aside, I don't see it happening because I don't think Shanghai has any major venue that would accommodate to the show on the standards that New York, British and Paris did. The last time Ale, Jo and Sui had that mini opening in China, those LED floors look horrible and the quality of the video wasn't great to begin with.
  18. We might not see VSFS in Shanghai 2017. I feel like the fact that lots of Asians hated Bill the dragon showed that VS' appreciation or understanding of the Asian culture is far from what is desired of the crowd. Sui He's time has passed, Ming Xi is the best bet for an Asian angel. Sui's hitting 28 next year, and that's a pretty old age to become an angel. Ming Xi turns 28 too but barely looks like it. Actually to be fair, Sui looked really haggard in some shots. It's a sign that age is catching up. And if it's just to expand their market in China, probably they'll be kept around for a year or two? I can see Fernanda Ly and Ping Hue walking the show next year. Ping Hue is who VS needs Liu Wen is done with the brand, and Fernanda would just probably be a HF favorite. But Sui is the most aesthetically pleasant & exotic looking Asian they've had so far. I think it'll be awhile before they'll get a Chinese whose got Eurasian features without the eurasian genes. If you guys look at the Asian models' teeth, none of them have a set of straight front teeth, only Sui has it.
  19. Kelly Gale too, so 5! But yeah, I was just putting it in the nicest way. But giving certain models the ugliest outfit of the show made VS looked like they didn't appreciate color, and I would almost say it was pretty discriminatory. Even during the VS show editing, you can tell if the camera wants to focus on non-Caucasian model or not. Have to mind my words before someone jumps on me. Shows in 2012 were pretty much blondes, brunettes more so than blacks. Heck, this year we even have a Kiwi for god's fucking sake. And last year we had a Reunion Island native. Fernanda Ly even appeared on their casting videos despite not making it. I don't like Sophia and John some times, but they really add diversity to the lineups. And some people here typically don't know how to appreciate diversity.
