I love her interviews, she is so well spoken
  2. Clearly, but this isn't as simple as playing favorites. As much as they must like and dislike certain girls, they're not going to make decisions for their company as big as someone being the lead angel if it wasn't for a reason other than that they like her. In candice's case, I'm not sure what else it can be. As I don't think she really is as popular as she should be (considering how much they've pushed her in the last few years) and like I said, I don't see her having a spectacular personality. so I have always chalked it up to her being able to sell and having a super hot body I guess we won't really know... but these are just my thoughts speaking of hot- why doesn't nina agdal work with VS more? I see your sig all the time and can't get over how hot she is, but she still has a cute face. I think she could do really well for them. I'm not familiar with what models have chosen not to continue working with vs on their own, or if VS made the decision..so feel free to school me on that if you'd like. But i'm curious.
  3. but why would they pump her as the lead angel if she didn't sell more? Just curious what the purpose would be otherwise. Isn't that the point of whoever they hire as Angels? I mean not to be rude but Candice doesn't have much else going for her, as she's incredibly boring and I cringe when she tries hard to look like she's having fun in videos like the swim videos.
  4. I can only assume that there is a reason why they use Candice so much for literally everything. I'm sure part of it is because she'll be the best known one around after Adriana/Ale leave, but I also think it has to do with how almost everything looks good on her. Obviously I'm a fan of Adriana, but I don't think she looks the way she used to in most catalog pictures anymore. That's my opinion of it. Just because I personally don't like Candice, doesn't mean I can deny the effect she has. It would be interesting if they released stats on that (of course they won't and it's hard to really gather statistics fully) but just saying.
  5. People actually only buy the products their favorite angels sell? that sounds ridiculous. The show and the brand are two different things. I completely agree that the show went downhill after Gisele left, and sure she was a money making machine. But I really doubt that VS is going to lose business after Adriana leaves lol. Their clientele isn't even the same that it used to be. I think the show caters to the demographics of their customers. They seem to care more and more about the younger demographic (which is why Pink is so important). From what I can tell that's where they put a good amount of importance. Of course they still care about girls being sexy for their mainline, but IMO as indifferent as I am about Candice, she has the same effect as Adriana does (Adriana's recent years, she has been well past her prime). Adriana was something special and otherworldly in the early years, but I don't think she's the main seller with catalogs. They use her for events because she has a huge fan base and is the most well known angel, that's common sense. But the events are only part of the brand's success. Adriana is a great spokesperson, when she talks about a product she actually knows all the details and knows when to work things in, but I'm sure they'll concentrate on picking up girls who have personalities and can sell. As much as you all cry about Karlie possibly being picked up. Young girls seem to like her, she has personality, and she can sell a product and do these interviews better than most of the girls with the brand. I don't find her particularly sexy, but I don't see why she's impossible for Pink. I think that's the direction they're going to try to go.

she looks better now with a little bit more weight on, i like that her face looks more filled. But i still can't help but see callings of the cat lady in a few yrs.
  7. cherrybomb replied to cast0r's post in a topic in Actresses
really? I can't. She looks better in the maroon/dark red dress than this, but still-no.
  8. cherrybomb replied to cast0r's post in a topic in Actresses
she has officially ruined her face and there is no going back. I keep hoping to finally see a group of candids that reflect her past beauty. But now all of her candids look the same. Boring even, her face is too plastic.
  9. I do think Adriana is getting older and it's about time she does depart from VS. I don't want her to stay there into her mid 30s. But as a fan, I know it's most likely the only way we'll be seeing much of her. And of course, leave it to the people that handle her twitter to post irrelevant and disconnected photos and quotes on her twitter. She looked so fresh, as she was. For me 2010 was the last year where I still felt she had a better present than most girls. I didn't like Dri in 2011 & 2012.

Adriana Lima ‏@AdrianaLima Do your dreams scare you? If they don't, they're not big enough. Love, Adriana http://fb.me/1Oj7Sb4W6 I haven't been to her twitter in forever. Something we all can agree on... forgot how incredibly pathetic her feed actually is. I really wish she had better people on her team.

But Candice isn't necessarily known nor is she as popular as I think we all like to think. I don't see Candice being in the #1 spot unless she has a time where she blows up like Dri did or even like Miranda did. Kate upton is still at #3 which is pretty high up there but she's been everywhere. Extremely relevant in main stream America. But I have zero problem believing that men would vote for Jennifer Lawrence or Emma Stone over Candice if it went by name. Or if it went by just a few pictures. Because think about how much of Emma stone the average guy has seen. She's everywhere, and a lot of men are drawn to her humor. I think you put what you're familiar with ahead of what you're not when it comes to polls like this. Especially Ask men where they time and time state again that it's about personality too and who's most likable /desirable (not saying that I buy into that). But if given a choice between emma/jennifer...girls they've seen hundreds of pictures with and maybe even films (2 hours of) with, compared to candice who they might not be familiar with... a few pictures of candice on the website when you're about to vote compared to all of what you've seen of Emma/Jennifer really isn't a fair measure. I would say most people go with what they know. And for it to be fixed, I guess we interpreted it in different ways. I meant that they don't actually consider votes of the people that vote through their websites, instead they already predetermine what girls will go where based on their popularity already. I still find it unlikely that managers/agents call Ask men...BUT wtf, chanel is #26? that alone might make me think otherwise and agree with you... there's really no reason for her to randomly end up on that list. Let alone before girls like Adri or Charlize. weird. Who cares though really? These lists are a complete joke.
  14. cherrybomb replied to Neo52285's post in a topic in Adriana Lima
Ask men.com's list have to do with a model/celeb's agent? I've never really heard of that before. I recall seeing girls like Lea michele (when glee first hit big) and emma stone (when she was in literally every movie coming out) near the top of the list. Lea IMO is in no way attractive (different for different people of course) but from what I've seen it has strictly to do with relevance and press as far as the top spots are concerned. Even the 'voting' when you ask someone to vote from someone who is constantly shoved in their face because they have a big movie out or a model they have never heard of, they're likely to go with the first. Even if there are photographs of both choices. I really don't think men go out of their way to google names just to vote. I'm in agreement about the votes being fixed. But I don't think agents would be concerned with Ask men's top 99 desirable women list enough to contact them about it. At least I've never seen anything that implies so. Not sure about maxim (however their list is laughable as well)

I just looked at the list jennifer lawrence is #1. I love her, as an actress...as a personality, and she's very relate-able. But #1 most desirable? Like I said, Relevance in terms of projects for the most part.
  16. cherrybomb replied to Neo52285's post in a topic in Adriana Lima
they probably didn't even know she was pregnant most of this year. They desire her off of what they know of her. These lists only have to do with relevance when it comes to movie stars/musicians. The most relevant ones usually get the top spots (or the girls that had a huge year like upton), Adriana would have been on there even if she did nothing this year (including the superbowl ads, the vs show, etc)
  17. ^ not at all actually
  18. look at u... making sense and all I've never seen cherrybomb make anything but perfect sense, actually. :morning:
  19. All of us get annoyed when extreme Adriana fans get offended/upset about people making negative comments about Adriana. In fact, we make endless jokes about it. Why is it different when people make negative comments about Miranda? is people being upset/offended when comments about miranda's tactics are made not the same damn thing as the idiots who cry when people say something negative things about Adriana? live and let live. if you don't agree with someone, get over it and let them share their opinion anyway without drawing more attention to it by responding.
  20. cherrybomb replied to Neo52285's post in a topic in Adriana Lima
I don't think they're surprised by just Adriana. This is said by many people of a lot of models that fit into being professional. It's probably just an overall perception of models rather than Adriana in particular.

I just saw her ads and it wasn't the ads that looked terrible, her face did. But there's nothing you can do about that! I think aside from that they looked great. Hers was a location shoot though and it seems they kept Adriana in the studio so we'll see. It was both. Obviously megan has gone overboard with the surgery but the ads themselves weren't appealing to me either. The ones outside were especially bad. Some of the shots of megan indoors (her face aside) looked decent. Despite the girls. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree, and there's always hope that they do things better (or even better) this time around.
  22. There are far worse things said that are tolerated by all Mods on this forum than the phrase 'attention/fame whore'. I know what you mean when you say you don't care. Everyone is definitely in their right to make of it what they want. Some might say 'it might be pathetic, but so?' and that's entirely fine. About the media caring about models (especially American) that's true, it's usually Miranda, Kate, and Ale etc. Has anyone noticed that in recent months daily mail has started featuring less heard of models more (and individually rather than grouping them in with other girls) for example I recently saw an article about maryna linchuk, featuring only her. They usually include her with Candice and whoever else is shooting VS swim, but I hadn't seen an article on just her on that website before.
  23. I understand when people say 'it's smart' (business wise) but just because it's smart, doesn't mean it's not petty. There have been successful people who have done without all of the types of things Miranda does to promote herself. I don't see anything wrong with someone expressing that they're not a fan of the methods Miranda turns to? Using the logic that modeling is the same thing as calling the paparazzi when you're about to step out doesn't make sense to me. If they were, there wouldn't be certain models you can compare/contrast and it's evident that they don't both "attention whore". I think it wouldn't make sense to argue that what Miranda does has indeed helped her career (I do think she's smarter than all of the VS angels as far as branding herself goes) but it's not a huge ordeal to simply point out that the girl puts all things 2nd to getting any type of attention. Nothing wrong with discussing that... as that's really all we do on these forums (discuss models, their work and what they do)

metrocity f*cking sucks. But I guess it's something. All of megan's ads looked so terrible too.

why does Barbara have to "replace"anyone? literally speaking, yes if one angel goes they'll want to fill the spot...but what does that have to do with comparing the incoming girl to the leaving veteran? i mean ale is going to leave...lets say they replace her with Bregje, where is the comparison?
