  1. I agree, her hair and makeup were right on the mark for the Farrah Fawcett (RIP) tribute. She certainly reminded me of Farrah for the Mexican rocks, tree, market(?), and beach shots as well. Hope that the best of these photos make it into the printed magazine, rather than just being outtakes.
  2. I wish her eyes weren't closed in that photo. But I'm hoping there will be outtakes photos that will be released later.
  3. From "Rocky I" (1976): Mickey: "Women weaken legs!"
  4. Paraphrasing one of my favorite Cindy Crawford quotes of about a dozen years ago: "...of course, we'd look like trucks next to them." For fun, I looked up up a few Zed cards listed in the 1988 Elite modelling agency book: The first two VS supermodel hires' Dress size. Jill Goodacre: Size 8. Frederique: Size 8. VS Angels in the 1990s: Stephanie Seymour: Size 6-8. Karen Mulder: Size 6-7. Cindy Crawford was listed as Size 6-7.
  5. I'd like to see Cheryl Tiegs or Kathy Ireland being among the first two. If it wasn't for Cheryl Tiegs' multiple covers plus the media-impact of her 1978 Fishnet suit, SI probably wouldn't have gone to an all-supermodels format (starting around 1980) for many years.
  6. I'm hoping that SI publishes a "Swimsuit Extra" newsstand magazine (as they did in Oct 2014; and 2011 plus earlier years) featuring un-published photos in a slightly-larger 8.5" x 11" magazine with higher-quality paper that includes the more-revealing online pics that SI declined to publish in the mass-circulation issue.
  7. I thought her hair and makeup were spot-on given the Malta location -- playing up her "Classic beauty" look. It reminded me of the classic Greek and Mediterranean beauties cast as Helen of Troy and other sword-and-sandal classics.
  8. In April 2003, I took the guided tour of the SS American Victory, a World War II military cargo ship built in 1945 (berthed at Tampa, Florida).
  9. If you have the date of the Fashions of the Times in red letters I could check my list. I´ve had some issues and noticed the cover girls. 8. Anne Bezamat (February 27, 1983).
  10. 7. Fashions of the Times (redhead): Nancy Decker 11. Intimite: Looks like Carol Alt. 12. Jackie: Julie Foster
  11. But it *was* nice that Stacey Williams received the honor of being one of the eleven models chosen for the 2004 SI 40th Anniversary "Swimsuit Hall of Fame" photoshoot.
  12. You must be too young, then, to remember: * Irish McCalla in her TV series "Sheena: Queen of the Jungle" (1955 - 1956). * Tanya Roberts in the less-memorable movie-version "Sheena" (1984).
  13. In the Revlon 1988 Commercial #1, the blonde in the blue dress looks like Ashley Richardson. In the photo just above the video, the blonde in the black-and-white dress (over Stephanie Seymour's right shoulder) is definitely Nancy DeWeir. In the 1st photo, the blonde to Cindy's left shoulder is more difficult to ID, but based on her lips I'd say Hunter Reno. Richardson, DeWeir and Reno were all part of Revlon's "Most Unforgettable Women" campaign around that time.
  14. Vendela appeared in Sports Illustrated's "Hall of Fame" 2004 40th Anniversary issue. I wonder if she'll be on its "Candidates List" for a similar themed layout for the 50th Anniversary issue.

A very good Daily Mail April 20, 2012 article "Eighties Supermodels Then and Now: Kim Alexis, Kelly Emberg, and Elena Davis" includes several nice color non-Photoshopped photos of the still very attractive women (both together for their interview with "Today" host Savannah Guthrie and closeups): http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-...lena-Davis.html
  16. Also: Maud Adams Susan Blakely Joanna Cameron Phoebe Cates Lois Chiles Farrah Fawcett Terry Farrell Jennifer Gareis Veronica Hamel Julianne Phillips Connie Sellecca Cybill Shepherd
  17. Kristian Alfonso Jennifer Connelly Erin Gray Catherine Oxenberg Tracy Scoggins Nancy Stafford Sheree J. Wilson
  18. Like you, I recall the vintage days before cosmetic surgery, silicone and tattoos. My favorite model of the mid-1970s to early-1980s era was Cristina Ferrare. Favorite Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue model of the mid-1970s: Cheryl Tiegs.
  19. I would LOVE to see reunion edition or smth like that as well! That would be real treat. Doubt that will ever happen, though When we are at reunion subject , I would love to see VSFS reunion as well The Winter 2006 SI cover did feature an "All-Star SI Cover Model" theme with Elle MacPherson, Rebecca Romijn, Rachel Hunter, Daniela Pestova, Veronica Varekova, Elsa Benitez, Carolyn Murphy and Yamila Diaz-Rahi. Not only that, but they published the oversized hardcover book "Sports Illustrated Exposure" (which retailed at $29.95) solely on the All-Star cover models shoot.
  20. A: Neither are Stephanie. #1: Paulina Porizkova (1987); from Glaviano's "Models: Sittings 1978-1988". #2: Alexandra Brochen; from Sport magazine's swimsuit issue (February 1989).
  21. Newsweek magazine's May 1, 2011 article "The Lost Girl" by Peter Pomerantsev: "A filmmaker describes his three year quest for clues and answers". http://www.newsweek.com/content/newsweek/2...-lost-girl.html
