Filippo Inzaghi
SuperPippo A Born Goalscorer – Cagni Empoli coach Gigi Cagni has hailed Milan striker Pippo Inzaghi as a born goalscorer, and ridicules those who label many of his goals as lucky, such as the one against Liverpool in Athens last year. Born Goalscorer Inzaghi is one of the most prolific strikers in the history of the game, having scored goals galore during his 17-year career, and he holds the record for the most goals in the history of UEFA club competition. The 34-year-old’s coach at his first club Piacenza was Gigi Cagni, who has recalled the time he spent with the striker. "Over the years his technique his improved, he is not a phenomenon with the ball at his feet, and while I coached him he even struggled to trap the ball,” Cagni told the Corriere dello Sport. "What did I teach him? Almost nothing. “If someone is a born goalscorer, they do not need any teachers. I explained only a bit about his movement and he perfected it.” Lucky? Oh No Inzaghi is often ridiculed by his critics for having poor technique, and for scoring simple and lucky goals. However Cagni has rubbished these claims, saying these kind of people do not understand the game, and says that the real reason he scores so many goals is because of his brilliant movement and killer instinct. ”He works very hard. He believes in every ball that he chases or that goes past him,” the tactician explained. “When he scored the first goal in Athens in the Champions League final [against Liverpool] when he diverted the free kick of Pirlo into the net, everyone called it luck. “Ha-ha oh no, it was not luck. Pippo makes his move onto every ball, he makes his luck. “His strength is that he does not care about making a mistake. He may miss 50 goals, but on the 51st occasion he is still there, ready to score.” Cagni follows on from the claims of England manager Fabio Capello, who believes that a movie should be made about Inzaghi’s movement and taught to aspiring footballers. "They should make a movie of the movements he makes in the area and show it to the children so they can learn," the Don stated.

Gabriel Heinze
Heinze: Ronaldo Will Stay Loyal Former Manchester United full-back Gabriel Heinze believes Cristiano Ronaldo will remain to Sir Alex Ferguson and resist any overtures from Real Madrid. Gabriel Heinze left Manchester United for Real Madrid but believes it would be difficult for Los Merengues to tempt Cristiano Ronaldo to follow suit. Argentine defender Heinze cannot see Ronaldo leaving Old Trafford as long as his mentor Sir Alex Ferguson remains in charge of United. There is persisten media speculation in Spain linking the newly-crowed Primera Liga champions with a move for Ronaldo, who is about to complete the best season of his career with United. The Portuguese winger has hit 40 goals in all competitions, been crowned the Players' Player of the Year and the Football Writers' Footballer of the Year, and could yet collect Premier League and Champions League winners' medals this month. But although sections of the Spanish press continue to talk optimistically about Real Madrid mounting a successful bid for Ronaldo, Heinze is sceptical. The Argentine knows Ronaldo well from his own spell at Old Trafford, and does not see his former team-mate moving to the Bernabeu anytime soon. "I talk with him [Ronaldo] all the time and I tell him how great this club is, and the nice things that Madrid has, but I know that [it] is very difficult for him to come because he has a coach who had trust in him when he was younger," Heinze told Radio Marca. "Whilst Ferguson is at United it is very difficult. He is a fundamental part of their plans."

Priyanka Chopra
Red-Hot: Priyanka Chopra Priyanka Chopra dyed her hair to red for Harry Baweja’s film Love Story 2050 and this she did twice ....from black to red to black and back again to red during the progress of the film. This is a first in the Hindi film industry for an actor to dye their hair to a totally different colour....Usually actors wear wigs or get colours which are more natural. The look is the brainchild of Harry Baweja, make-up maestro Mickey Contractor and hair stylist Thea. Speaking on this, Harry Baweja said, “The idea was to have a look that people could imagine and relate to in future. We didn’t want them resembling aliens or looking as if they’ve landed from Star trek. The film is set in the future but it’s not about space travel. It took us six months to zero in on the final look”. He further added, “The biggest challenge about coming up with Priyanka’s futuristic look was to predict fashion trends 40 yrs ahead of its time and match those trends to the essence of the character and interest of the viewers”. The film stars Priyanka Chopra, introduces Harman Baweja and Boman Irani, Archana Pooran Singh, Dalip Tahil, and Shishir Saxena. The music of the film has been given by Anu Malik with lyrics by Javed Akhtar. Watch out for Priyanka’s red hair avatar on 4th July 2008.

Tollywood Calling - SRK and Juhi Suddenly Tollywood stars are on SRK and Juhi’s speed dial. Thanks to the IPL hype, almost all Tollywood stars have jostled for space in the VVIP box to cheer the King’s men on. While the proximity is sure improving the brand worth of our entertainers, is it also nudging them on to explore greener pastures in Mumbai? Or, is it finally working the other way round where our local talents are regaining their faith in their own abilities and trying to entrench their position so that it strengthens the local industry status as well? Director Anirudhha Roychowdhury, who was invited by the officials of Kolkata Knight Riders to watch a match at the Eden Gardens, says that the IPL focus on Kolkata has surely added to the momentum at which things are being done in Kolkata. “It’s more of a fraternity feeling that’s taking Tollywood to the stadium. Since a lot of business deals in the entertainment circuit happen at social gatherings, I wouldn’t be surprised if people strike such deals even on the cricket pitch. Kolkata is drawing attention now and one hears companies like Reliance and Mahindra & Mahindra showing interest in making Bangla films. This IPL connection should teach us a thing or two about professionalism and inspire us to make Bangla films that tap the overseas market the way Bollywood has been doing in the recent past.” As for brain drain, Aniruddha says, he, for one, wouldn’t wish to shift to Mumbai. “Distance is not a big deal in the shrinking world of today. I had an offer to make a Hindi film but I wish to work in Kolkata.” Divya Khosla Kumar, creative head of T-series, who had come down to Kolkata to watch one IPL match, says that she was pleasantly surprised with the support that the Knight Riders had garnered. “Though I had been to Kolkata earlier, I’m now convinced that it would be a good idea to tap the local market. Kolkata directors and actors have always done well in Mumbai and it would make sense if we invested there. Since we plan to invest down South, we might do a market research in Kolkata to figure out how to enter that market.” Indrani Halder, who flew down to Kolkata as Juhi’s special guest for yesterday’s match, says, “These personalised invitations have added prestige to Tollywood. They are an index of one’s achievement too. It’s judicious to maintain this rapport even after the IPL is over.” Though it might be a far-fetched dream to use big ticket invites as a permit to Bollywood stardom, stars could shrug off their smugness and proactively use these connections to foster stronger business ties in Bengal. As Nilanjanaa, the better half of actor Jisshu Sengupta, says, “My husband is a cricket buff and I know he watches the match because of the love for the game. I do see a lot of chance for Tollywood to turn friendships into professional associations.” Is Tollywood listening?

Shahid and Priyanka come together in 'Kamine' Whatever be the case with Shahid Kapoor’s personal life post Jab We Met, on professional front the actor is surely raring to go. He is enjoying a good phase commercially and has signed multiple projects. Aziz Mirza’s Kismat Connection is ready for release. He has been signed by Yash Raj for a film opposite Rani Mukherjee. His will be seen in his father Pankaj Kapoor’s directorial debut and also in his director friend Ken Ghosh’s next. Shahid indeed has his hands full with offers. Now comes the news that Shahid Kapoor has been signed by Vishal Bhardwaj for his next film. Add to it Shahid will be seen in a double role in this film. Interestingly the film has been unusually titled as Kamine. Says an industry insider, “Shahid will have two interesting roles in the film. It is also believed that Priyanka Chopra has been signed as the leading leady for this film”. This is for the first time that Shahid and Priyanka Chopra will be paired opposite each other. Vishal Bharadwaj has teamed up with Pankaj Kapoor to come up with commendable works like Maqbool and Blue Umbrella. This time the filmmaker plans to work with son Shahid Kapoor. Vishal is still working on the film’s pre-production and will soon be finalizing the remaining star cast. Honda hopeful after practice 09 May 2008 Honda worked through a detailed set-up programme with both RA108 cars, honing the aerodynamic package to the demands of the 5.338km track. They ran reliably throughout the two 1.5-hour sessions, providing Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello with a good baseline from which to progress through the remainder of the race weekend. At the end of the day Jenson was 11th overall, while Rubens finished 15th on the timesheets. "We made a lot of changes to the car after this morning when I was struggling with a lack of grip on initial turn in which you really need around here," said Button. "This afternoon was much better right from the start of the session. We tried a lot of different things on the set-up and I'm confident that we know which direction to take for the rest of the weekend. This circuit is very tough without traction control and you could see that a lot of people were making mistakes but that does make it more fun to watch and drive. I was certainly enjoying it out there! The car is working better on the smoother asphalt here and we have made some changes to help with the ride quality, so for me the car feels better than in Barcelona." Barrichello commented, "The car was nicely balanced in the morning and we were pleased with our progress. However we made a mechanical change over lunch which changed the balance. It was too big a change to go back in the time available so we have some work to do overnight to understand what has changed. We should be able to get the car back to how it felt this morning, then I believe we have a good chance of getting through to Q3 tomorrow." Engineering chief Steve Clark added, "The sessions ran without any incident on either car which is always good. The damp track at the start of the morning, the rain for the start of the second session and then the red flag caused by Webber's crash of course meant that we could not stick to the original plan. This is the same for everyone and something we just had to deal with."

Button eyes more points this weekend 09 May 2008 Fresh from three points and a sixth place finish in the Spanish Grand Prix, Jenson Button is aiming for more points this weekend, but acknowledged that if Ferrari, McLaren and BMW stay reliable, it will be difficult to do much better than seventh. "If everyone finishes it is very difficult to score points because you have got six very fast cars and you are fighting over two points but we will aim for points for sure," Button said. "The first few races, in qualifying, were reasonable but I struggled in the race to have a good performance basically because twice I crashed at turn one," he added. "It was finally nice to get to the end of a grand prix and to be not just scoring one point, but to get three points on the board. It was a good race and the pace of the car was reasonable. There is a lot of work still to be done but the positives are we are improving and every race we go to we feel we are getting a little bit more out of the car, and so far everything is going to plan." "We have got a few tweaks here which should make a bit of time," he went on. "Also this is a circuit which I think will suit our car a little bit more than Barcelona which is very bumpy and I think that ride quality is an area where we are lacking. We have got a few tweaks on that side and it is a smoother circuit, so I will be looking for a good performance in qualifying and then we will see."
