Raúl González Blanco
Raúl Desperate For Euro 2008 Place Raúl González still believes that he has a chance of being called up for Euro 2008 by Luis Aragonés despite not playing for the national team for almost two years. The Real Madrid captain is supported by a huge media campaign in his bid to win his place with la Furia Roja back and has said that he would do anything to be in Austria and Switzerland. Aragonés has named a provisional squad of 31 players that required innoculations for the tournament and Raúl was not included, but he has now pleaded to be allowed to travel with the squad, even it means being the water boy. "I would go to the European Championships even if it means carrying the water for the team," he said during Madrid's title celebrations. Madrid's media have run an ineffective campaign to see Raúl recalled to the squad with Aragonés sticking to his position, having left the striker out in September 2006 and now having recalled him since. While the 30-year-old has been a guiding light in Madrid retaining the title, the fact that other players have were central to Spain's qualification for the European Championships means that they will be ahead of him in Aragonés' thinking. Fernando Torres, David Villa, Raúl Tamudo and Dani Güiza are the likely quartet to be named to play up front for Spain, while Espanyol's Luis García has also impressed.

Raúl: Barça Visit Will Be Extra Special Raúl González could not hide his delight after helping Real Madrid retain the title and immediately looked forward to the midweek encounter against Barcelona in the Bernabéu. Having clinched the championships at Osasuna's Reyno de Navarra ground, los Merengues' first home game will be el Clásico on Wednesday when they will be able to enjoy another party. There had been hints before the game at the weekend that players would not be disappointed should Madrid not win on Sunday and would have to wait to claim the title against Barça, but Raúl did not agree. "We wanted to win the league as early as possible, even though this was away from home," he explained. "Now the Barça match will be a very special game and we will once again be able to celebrate. "It is great because in the last six months we have played well. It is the fruit of a huge effort from a supportive and united squad. It is the title of the team." Having won this season's championship, Raúl was already looking ahead to next term when he believes that the club would have to make more of an effort to win the Champions League. "Now we will be expected to do even better because the fans are very demanding," he concluded.

Fabio Cannavaro
Gattuso Will Leave – Cannavaro Italy national team captain Fabio Cannavaro believes that Gennaro Gattuso will leave Milan in the summer due to motivational reasons. Gattuso Hardman Gattuso has had a disappointing season for Milan, and there have been strong reports in the Italian media over the past few weeks that he will be leaving the club for pastures new. A number of big clubs have been linked with making a move for the 30-year-old, including Real Madrid, Manchester United, and most notably Bayern Munich, who have openly declared their interest. Yesterday, Gattuso’s agent Claudio Pasqualin stated his belief that his client would stay at San Siro, despite the arrival of Mathieu Flamini, who many regard as his successor. Cannavaro disagrees with Pasqualin, and believes that Gattuso may leave due to the fact that he has won everything there is to win with Milan. "I know Ringhio - obviously he will be short of motivation,” stated the 34-year-old. “He's won the World Cup and two Champions Leagues, what else can he do?" Cassano Cannavaro also spoke about Sampdoria enigma Antonio Cassano, who again displayed his wonderful natural talent against Roma at the weekend. “His skills never have been in doubt,” said the Real Madrid man. “If anything, it's his character. I understand that, at Sampdoria, he has had an impressive championship. I'm pleased for him. “As a captain, and his deep admirer, I can only wish he can manage his nerves better. Be more rational. The talent, I repeat, is indisputable."

Cannavaro: We Showed Great Heart Real Madrid defender Fabio Cannavaro reflected on his side's title-winning 2-1 victory over Osasuna on Sunday evening... "The Italian international was actually sent off just after half time at the Reyno de Navarra. However, this second booking merely served to spur his side on to fight back for a 2-1 win after going down 1-0 late on. On his red card, he said, "It was very tough, because I never expected to be booked again. "It looked like a normal foul to me, but when I saw the card my world collapsed. "I can only apologise to my teammates, and I can say that I'm suffering just as the fans are." Nonetheless, he went on to congratulate his side for their comeback win. "Fortunately, the team showed that they have so much heart, and above all else they are a unit," he said. "To come to Pamplona and win in such a situation isn't something everyone can do."

Gonzalo Higuaín
Higuaín: I Knew My Day Would Come Gonzalo Higuaín believes that all the adulation he is receiving for scoring the goal that won Real Madrid the title is reward for all his hard work and maintaining a level head. The Argentinian forward became Los Merengues' hero on Sunday night when he scored the winning goal against Osasuna to spark wild title celebrations in the Reyno de Navarra. "I knew this moment would come. I have worked very hard and I have never thrown in the towel. It is a team triumph and was one of the happiest days of my life," he explained. "Now I have to continue to improve and to win more trophies. The party that we had at La Cibeles and to see the fans line the streets was amazing. I am delighted. Higuaín has had his critics in Spain since joining Madrid from River Plate, but thinks that the fact that he has not let them affect him has helped him overcome them. "People can think what they like. I know that I am going to give everything that I have in every game whether things turn out well or badly for me. There will always be criticism and praise too," he continued. "Just as long as you never believe that you are the best or the worst it will be fine. You have to maintain a balance. "I am really pleased to have won two leagues with Real Madrid. It is something incredible. I still cannot believe that we were losing with five minutes to go and turned it around." There were suggestions that Madrid would ideally like to win the title against Barcelona on Wednesday evening, but Higuaín rejects that idea and is now looking forward to playing the Blaugrana without the pressure. "Myself and the whole team went out to win in Pamplona and we did not have some strange sense of wanting to wait for the Barcelona game. The dream was to win it as soon as possible and fortunately that was possible," he said. "It will be my first derby in the Bernabéu and I am really looking forward to playing in it. My team-mates have all said it is a great game and I am keen to be involved."

Guti
Guti Holds Secret Title Desire Guti has a secret desire that Real Madrid do not wrap up the league title on Sunday against Osasuna and leave it open to be clinched when Barcelona visit the Bernabéu in midweek. Los Merengues' midfielder will not play in the Reyno de Navarra because of injury and does not want to miss out on the party that will ensue when Bernd Schuster's team do eventually become champions. Having seen their celebrations put on hold seven days ago after Villarreal beat Real Betis, Madrid's desire to win the title at home and then go directly to La Cibeles could be spoilt. That is unless results conspire to leave Madrid needing to secure something from el Clásico on Wednesday, which would make Guti happy. "Although it depends upon ourselves, it is definite that I would prefer to win it in the Bernabéu. It would be tremendous to win it against Barça," he explained. "If it is not to be in Pamplona, then we will have a great game and be able to put on a show to give the fans what they want." Guti appeared to be looking for reasons why Madrid may not secure the win as he added: "They are always difficult games against a side that makes life very hard. It is a small stadium that restricts the play. Also, they are close to the drop zone."

INZAGHI: "This Milan exalts me" MILAN - Filippo Inzaghi talked about his feeling with the team and the club: "I must be infinitely grateful to my team mates, this Milan exalts my characteristics and plays to perfection for a striker. There are no problems with the club, Adriano Galliani has given me the privilege to decide when and how to leave this club, it's a possibility that's given to few people and it's worth more than a contract extension."- Filippo Inzaghi
INZAGHI: "We had everything to lose" MILAN - On TV program "Controcampo Diritto di Replica" Filippo Inzaghi commented on the victory against Inter: "Our primary objective was to reach the fourth place, then clearly we wanted to give our fans a great match against a special opponent. We played very well, Inter were mentally in a better position than us, the pressure was all on us, Milan were the ones with everything to lose. In any case I'm already looking forward, on Sunday at Naples we are playing for the Champions League."- Ronaldo Lima
Ronaldo Hints At Flamengo Move AC Milan striker Ronaldo has hinted that he wants to return to his homeland and play for Flamengo next year. The Brazilian, who is likely to be sidelined for the rest of 2008 with a left knee injury, is out of contract in June and it is unlikely he will be offered new terms until he has proved he will be fit to make a return. Nonetheless, the 31-year-old still has goals he wants to achieve and one of those is to play domestic football in his homeland, for the first time since leaving Cruzeiro for PSV Eindhoven as an 18-year-old in 1994. He told Fantastico TV show on O Globo: "My contract with Milan finishes in June. From then onwards, I will be free to negotiate with everybody. It would be a big dream and I am sure Flamengo's doors are open for me."Account
