  2. Trump and the China-hawks that surround him seem to want: 1. a diffusion of the tensions between Russia and ending the Ukraine war 2. shift of attention away from Europe-Russia and towards economic competition vs. China.
  3. Overall his FP attitude (that the USA is stupid, incompetent country) is reality and his view that the 'competition' are the 'smart ones'. He is wrong with many of the details he claims in his speeches though but he must know that too. He is correct that it is the State Department/Biden/Democrats/MIC war mongers that are insane . Of the China-Russia-Iran-North Korean military-economic alliance that is currently aligned against the West: He calls Xi a 'Great Man' while Biden called him a dictator..(insulting the largest real (PPP) economy in the world, most cash-rich country and probably 2nd most powerful military. The State department insulted China to the point where US-China relations were terrible and hostile. Blinken was seen as idiot clown by the Chinese, completely delusional about the real balance of power between the US & China and making stupid demands. China is now preparing for war against the United States. However despite this bad situation I think Trump will start a 2nd trade war with China, which MAGA wants. He likes Kim & Putin of which only he can made some sort of ending of the Ukraine war possible- it must come from the United States or a Ukrainian collapse. He has low respect for NATO for years and wants the US to leave and let Europe deal with the Russians. Overall it can be seen that Trump will respect real wealth and power over the obsolete 1990s belief in liberal globalism & Western supremacism.
  4. Taxi Driver, Dear Hunter, and of course Alien too (I forgot that these were in the 70s) I went through these classics too but at the time didn't get into them: Network 1976 Chinatown 1974 The Exorcist 1973 The Rocky Horror Picture Show 1975 Solaris 1972 One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest 1975 Westerns hold up better imho, also a fav of mine is the Outlaw Josey Wales 2001 a space Odessey is good but too slow of a film
  5. I watched a lot of old films when I was growing up (they were frequently on TV). Films from the 50s and 60s even. I like Casablanca, Spartacus, Vertigo, Singing in the Rain, Lawrence of Arabia (one of my fav films ever), Bridge on the River Kwai, north by northwest, Ben-hur.
  6. Jaws bored me personally. I tried to educate myself on the classics a long time ago. Citizen Kane was supposed to be the greatest movie ever but when I tried to watch it, it was so boring that I couldn't finish it. For me - and it seems most people- films from the 80s onward click while 70s is more mixed, and 60s and earlier are way too old. People communicate differently, the filmaking is slow, and acting not so good & many references are out-of date and not understandable by someone 50 years later. Of the 70s movies: Godfather I & II, Apocalypse Now, A Clockwork Orange, Rocky, still hold up though. Godfather I & Apocalypse are two of my favorites. AFI’S 100 YEARS…100 MOVIES — 10TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION | American Film Institute I tried the same with the biggest comedians- I found myself liking comedy from the 90s onward but 80s comedy was way too old.

  8. My guess is that Costner is a boomer who grew up with theaters being the gold standard so it may not have been a rational move (he always had a 'plan B' ) anyway. Waterworld & the Postman damaged his career a long time ago and he may have been trying to wash away the bitterness with this gamble in the theaters.
