Thanks. I will read this chapter after I finish the books. How about Arya Stark? The Arya content in Books 1-2 is very impressive. The general theme also reminds me of Ciri from the Witcher books. I wonder now if it's a well established fantasy trope (tomgirl that gets a long series of traumatic situations and brutalization while being on the run and eventually develops into a skillful fighter)

This is a good scene in the show but the book version (Clash of Kings) is much longer and very well written. It efficiently reveals a lot about the characters and it would have been cool to see a complete version in the show. Is the pre-published Theon chapter referring to the Winds of Winter? The Theon content in Clash of Kings is excellent and much more extensive than what we got in the show. I look forward to completing the rest of the series. Given my current listening habits I should be able to finish 2-5 within 3 1/2 months. Is Jaime /Brienne and Cersei similar to what happens in the show?

The face model for Rose could pass for Freya's sister.

Do you think they made it worse?
  6. I think they made a mistake by introducing and then killing off too many new characters. It was a better use of time to focus on a smaller but higher quality and better developed cast of characters. A lot of these sub-plotlines actually took a lot of screentime and could have been removed entirely. For instance I find the Valerions the weaker link in the show. It's hard to really care about any of them except for the Seasnake and the old Princess.

This is great news to me. Over the summer I posted my thoughts about Witcher 1 here. Outside of the dated combat/graphics (2007) it is a proto-Witcher 3 and a great game on its own right. It has a unique, great atmosphere and story that doesn't overlap with Witcher 2/3. So it is a perfect candidate for a remake, particularly to reach fans who have played 3 or 2/3 but haven't played 1 because it is too dated. There is also huge potential to connect W3 to W1, in terms of story and characters and enrich both of them.

These are huge changes. do you think that the book versions are better planned than the show versions? Jorah is physically very different than the show version. Ian is an older but still a quite good looking man. The Jorah in the books is described as being an old beast of man, looking more like an Umber lol. It is evident in book 1/2 that Jorah is attracted to Dany but Dany views him as a great mentor/ friend and has no attraction towards him. Also Tyrion is described as being more deformed but the show version (thank god) is not.

Unnamed woman alleges Herschel Walker pressured her into an abortion in 1993 | CNN Politics It turns out that candidate Herschel Walker is a serial adulterer with several children with different women LOL. His own son said : "He has four kids, four different women. Wasn't in the house raising one of them. He was out having sex with other women."

@Enrico_sw @SympathysSilhouette @Matt! CDPR is doing something great, they are remaking the original Witcher!
  11. She looks really cute to me when she is wearing that crown. It is jarring and I can't take her that seriously lol. My overall rating for the season is a 4.3 out of 5. I personally enjoyed the first 5 episodes more than the second half. But all of it was good. My only issue is the casting for some of the characters isn't great, and their stylistic choice of extreme time compression over characters outside the main ones. A really well made show overall.

She is really, really cute to me when she wears that crown. Somehow I can't see her as a wartime leader due to this cuteness.

That's nuts. I never heard of the Sansa-Sandor romance. While I do understand them becoming great friends, he is so physically damaged and older that even after his redemption arc it doesn't necessarily mean that a like minded woman like Sansa would be attracted to him romantically. And later on Sansa develops into a ruthless Machiavellian type, except with noble intents- the type of person that the Hound despises. This is the same issue I have with the Brienne-Jaime romance in the show. I don't know if this is in the books or a show thing. There was also the fanbase going on about the Jorah-Dany romance thing. It seems like Dany has a budding sense of entitlement and she would rage if something got in the way of her destiny- especially after passing so many years of trials. This is what I picked up in book 1/2. And in the show her entitlement just grows and grows. I have a sense that GRRM has a lot of great ideas for weird romances. However I don't think he's a deep romantic writer and is missing some key insights. Bran in book 1/2 has a really weird story. It's like he's a developing mystic/jesus/buddha/Muhammad etc type figure. I feel like the set up is to make him some sort of mystical leader with foresight, like a Seer of some sort. But Seers are traditionally advisors, not leaders of kingdoms. Seers could be religious/spirtual leaders or leaders of cults. It will be odd to see this transition. Maybe GRRM will change his original ending. The vikings show had a seer that was very well done:

A similar problem is going on with Robert Caro. He is a masterful researcher and writer who won the Pulitzer prize twice but unfortunately, he is 86 years old. "The Power Broker" is still one of the greatest books I've ever read. It is by far the best piece of investigative journalism that I have ever seen, it's literally in a category of its own. I read his Lyndon Johnson series book 1-3 (the best is the Pulitzer prize winning "Master of the Senate") but I don't think he'll finish his gigantic research effort. I haven't read book 4 yet. But reviews (fans and professional) conclude that it was not as good as 1-3. Master of the Senate is also amazing, and by far the best political science book I've ever read and encountered. out of curiosity, what kind of endings do you have in mind for all the key characters? Are they the same as Season 8?

Unfortunately, yes. He is so busy with the new shows that the Winds of Winter must be written at a snail's pace. I am currently 60% through Clash of Kings. His books are so long, that they are 2 sizeable books in 1. So in my mind he already wrote 10 books. The audiobook for Game of thrones is approx. 32 hrs. Clash of Kings, 34 hrs. Storm of swords 54 hrs. Feast of Crows 33 hrs Dance of the Dragons 45 hours The entire Witcher series was approx. 130 hours for 8 books. Honestly I think it's better for fans to create their own fan fiction about how they would want their characters to end. That's one of my purposes for reading the books.
