Depends on how his teammates feel, I guess. One of the main things that I find very positive about Neymar is that he celebrates every goal even if he didn’t score or assist. Sometimes players seem a bit lazy if they didn’t make the goal themselves, but he is always quick to e.g. run to the teammate who succeeded. (Of course, it can be different for defence players because they are playing on a big ass field so running all the way to the other goal to celebrate for a minute can be a bit much.)

Tbh, I think Neymar could throw a tantrum if he wasn’t given the captain’s armband before the finale. But Coutinho is def. a good contender, he could even do better in this tournament than Neymar although he doesn’t get the spotlight as much. However, Neymar does seem to be on an upward trajectory.

I did not! I’m super curious to see how Neymar will act in the next match. Will all this embellishment backfire on him in a spectacularly bad way? Or is he just working the situation he is in to the best of his advantage, so that he doesn’t end up like Pelé who initially didn’t want to return to the World Cup due to all the fouls he received? Team Sweden does play very fair, no dirty tricks from them! I think it’s good that Russia advanced for the host country’s spirit to remain high but I’m hoping to see better football from them. Uruguay looked deadly good in the match against Argentina but without the Cavani & Suárez duo, it looked like a completely different team, so the pool of top talent doesn’t seem to be too deep there...

Brazil is now my fave to win! Also… I might have the magic touch! In the 2006 World Cup, Cannavaro was my favourite. As it turned out, Italy won, and he was seen lifting the trophy first. During the 2010 World Cup, Casillas caught my eye the most, Spain won, and he lifted the trophy first. In Euro 2016, I focused on Ronaldo, Portugal won, and he lifted the cup first. This time around, Neymar has been on my mind… Maybe again…?

Btw, Brazil’s player number 11 wears his socks in a funny way, makes it look like he is wearing white cowboy boots.

Looking at the easier side of the bracket (the side Japan was not on), gives me the impression that Japan might have played more exciting football than e.g. Russia and Sweden had the team advanced. BUT the matches are only gonna become better with the crazy 8 remaining…

Kinda wish we could swap some advanced team with Japan!

Definitely a player who falls down easily must be one of the most annoying types for the opposing team. I’ve been trying to think why Neymar does what he does. He was the Man of the Match but that has been overshadowed by his overreactions to receiving fouls. Maybe he feels that he gets fouled all the time, so he is gonna do what he can so that his rivalries cannot get away with it. Especially if he feels that the referees give passes to players who foul him because he is naturally a target for every team. One of the problems seems to be that honesty doesn’t always get rewarded. If you “man up,” the other player might not get a card he deserves. (But in this instance people have been saying that Neymar’s actions caused Layun not to receive a rightful red card.) Anyways, it is bad when people are saying that even Ronaldo wouldn’t do what Neymar does. I guess Neymar has a lot of maturing to do. He is the Justin Bieber of football? (Although he doesn’t seem to have the mean streak that Justin can have.)

That moment came around 8 minutes before he stepped on Neymar’s ankle. At the 62-minute mark, he pushes on Neymar even though they are not on the ball. Neymar falls down and remains in a seated position. Then it seems that Neymar refuses Layun’s “help” in getting up, which further provokes the Mexican player and he grabs Neymar from behind and lifts him up.
