The Official Victoria's Secret Thread
Thank you for the info Prettyphile! Apparently, Ana BB (another gorgeous one) felt the same... Might be true. Most of the angels are almost just skin and bone.Their face might be cute, but their bodies not too feminime, some of them need a lot of photoshop. + Imho the other "angels" might not like Barbara, because in their common works (Michael Bay videos or the bikini shooting/Maroon5 clip) Barbara clearly rule/outshine them. I don't want to play the jealousy card but I agree that they might have felt a bit intimidated which is only human. I mean here comes a girl "out of nowhere" with a L'Oreal contract under her belt to shoot the biggest commercial of the year with them. Michel Bay and Russell James were very impressed but obviously there are other more important gatekeepers because Russell James seemed to love Brooklyn Decker and she didn't do much with Vs...

VS dropped the ball on Petra Nemcova and Josie Maran. Now they are doing that with Barbara?! Just recently I saw her behind the scenes video of the holiday commercial again and she looked so amazing wearing that garter slip. Out of all the new Angel possibilities, she is the best in my opinion. She just has a unique face that is still very beautiful and sexy like a Victoria's Secret Angel should have! And on their website she fits right in with the VS heavyweights. Maybe the customers (subconsciously) think that she looks too young or something and she isn't moving enough products?

^ Great to see something new! I have to say that it has been pretty quiet and slow for someone who just landed her second SI cover. Hopefully she is gearing up for something exciting (more high fashion?). V Magazine:

VSfan88, I feel the same way about this lineup. Previous Angels seemed more like peers but now I feel like there are separate groups of girls: Adriana, Alessandra, Miranda & Doutzen and then Candice, Erin & Lily. Lindsay and Behati seem to be kind of random and not really a part of any group. I wasn't too crazy about the new girls when they were introduced and at first I thought it was just resistance to change. Now I think it's something different since after all this time I still think that they don't mesh well together. Maybe the problem is that the models can't relate to each other due to differences in ages and experience? Then again previous groups of Angels have had models ranging from supermodels to baby Angels and they still felt like "Victoria's Secret Angels".

I guess I was trying to talk about more mainstream success. In general these models tend to be older. Of course you need to appeal to the younger audience (like Tyra did with ANTM and before that with VS) but the young girls and young women will be there anyway, the real key is to grab everybody's attention (so you can sell that magazine cover and interview like regular Hollywood actresses).

It's a little unfair to compare Candice with older Angels and then say she is unpopular. The masses (regular women who are interested in celebrities, buy women's magazines etc.) don't really give a shit about a hottie model in her early 20's sharing her "beauty secrets" but they can care if a model is around 30, still looks hot and beautiful, maybe has a child and is definitely leading an aspirational lifestyle. Models like Adriana and Miranda have that potential, models like Candice can't yet. No young model has mass appeal amongst everyday women. That time comes later if they play their cards right. Calling the paparazzi yourself is lame but at the same time I understand why some are doing it. Let's take Miranda for example. She is coming to a stage in her life where she could become really successful, I mean the kind of success where she wouldn't have to use Victoria's Secret's name to justify her relevance. So maybe she and other models figure that calling the paparazzi is a price they are willing to pay if it means that they have chance to gain long term success in the entertainment industry.

It might not even be about Kate's "bitchiness". Maybe the other girls think that her getting the cover again was just too unfair or that they weren't really given a chance. I think that a video where Genevieve talks to MJ and Darcie is very interesting. She seemed to think that Kate's cover had already been planned ahead of time but the editors were quick to say that every shot is a possible cover. So maybe some girls felt really amazing during their shoot (like Nina who seemed to be really optimistic about getting a cover) and when they found out Kate got the cover again and was the only one sent to Antarctica to shoot it must have felt like everything was a sham...- Kate Upton

Accessorize video: Sports Illustrated (travel channel):- Avatar and Signature Request Thread
Hi! Could I request an avi based on Kate Upton singing and facing the camera from this video: Parts are at 2:03 and 2:11 and 2:16 but if that wouldn't look good could I get the part from 2:16-2:18?- Kate Upton
No harm intended at least on my part. I just thought that the video was pretty interesting in light of the discussion on previous pages about her popularity. In this next video you can see the situation more clearly. She is smiling and even dancing for the paparazzi.- Kate Upton

Body types that Victoria's Secret should represent and examples Traditional lingerie and swimsuit model body: Adriana Lima, Bar Refaeli, Heidi Klum Crazy curvy: Tyra Banks Truly unique body (down to genetics not just dieting and exercising): Candice Swanepoel Skinny but still looks good: Miranda Kerr Glamazon: Karolina Kurkova Athletic: Doutzen Kroes, Marisa Miller I have my own personal preference when it comes to an "ideal" body but I think VS would be well off if they truly tried to have models with different body types. I feel like most of the girls that they have right now fit in the "skinny" category which is a shame because it's not like it happened just because their models lost weight (Candice). Some of my examples are of course outdated but my guess is that VS isn't actively looking for new models whose bodies resemble Tyra's or Heidi's bodies (when they were still angels) because they hire models like Lindsay, Erin, Chanel and Lily who are pretty but they all fit pretty much in the "skinny" category. It’s annoying when one type is over-represented.- Selita Ebanks
Apparently that dress was designed by Calvin Klein: http://www.poshglam.com/fashion-throwback-...lein-fall-2009/ I sometimes miss Selita for VS. I feel a bit bad for her because being an Angel was probably her career highlight and I think she would have loved to continue as an Angel. It's good that she still works as a model and that she was back for the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show!- Selita Ebanks

Thank you! After posting my question I found her thread here on Bellazon but I still wasn't 100 % sure so it's great that you kind of confirmed my suspicions.- Candice Neil

I actually think that models who have had plastic surgery can be likened to athletes & doping in a way. In both cases the people who model / play sports are already good but some of them go under the knife / do drugs to get an edge over their competition. That puts pressure on others who are "natural". Whether the others will cave under the pressure or not is another matter. The way I feel about someone's plastic surgery depends on what kind of message they try to send. If the say stuff like "Oh, just love your body! Inner beauty counts, not outside beauty!" and they have had plastic surgery... They are being a hypocrite. They should own up and say "Okay, I have had plastic surgery and I don't think there is anything wrong with that / I have done it but wouldn't do it again". It's not cool to lie about it because models, actresses etc. are portrayed as examples of what is beautiful and therefore surgery isn't just their business. It's kind of sad that if you are naturally beautiful others might not believe you because there are tons of people out there who lie about their surgically enhanced looks.- Motion
Yes, thank you for your trouble lolitagirl! I had a really hard time finding any video of that interview and now I have it!- Motion
