HBO has released a smattering of Game of Thrones Season 2 footage this weekend and here at HBOWatch we can hardly keep up with the outpouring of awesome! Earlier this weekend we saw the release of a Game of Thrones Season 2 trailer called “The More You Love” alongside another character profile of Daenerys much like the ones you’re about to devour right now. These two character profiles focus on Jon Snow and Joffrey Lanni err..Baratheon? Anyway, take a look at these and expect more as we get closer to the April First premiere!- Game of Thrones
This weekend HBO quietly aired a 2 minute preview for their upcoming season of Game of Thrones. The below video takes a look at some of the behind the scenes magic taking place in Belfast as Game of Thrones Season 2 filmed in Ireland this year. This is one of the longest videos yet released for Game of Thrones season two so make the most of it, ASOIAF fans! Oh and thanks for the early Christmas gift, HBO!- Game of Thrones

EW also released an exclusive image of Peter, Emilia, Kit, Lena and Nickolaj “rocking out” on the set of the photo shoot. Along with the cover images, EW also captured some fantastic portraits of the cover actors in their costumes. Could this cast get any more good looking? Your favorite character wasn’t included? Don’t worry! EW also released 14 pictures of the cast in character. Among those pictures are a few more Lannister’s, Tywin, Joffery, Tommen, and Myrcella. Oh wait, Joff, Tommen, and Marcella are “Baratheon’s.” Never fear Winterfell fans, the ladies of House Stark have been represented as well! Photos of Catelyn, Sansa, and Arya are also included. Sansa, played by Sophie Turner, looks so grown and gorgeous. And Maisie Williams, who plays Arya, somehow manages to still look absolutely adorable dressed as boy.- Boardwalk Empire
Boardwalk Empire showrunner and executive producer Terence Winter, who wrote last night’s season finale, talked to EW about the finale as well as Season 3. The first part of the interview includes major spoilers for those of you who missed last night’s episode so beware! If you’re looking for a bit of healing you might want to give the entire thing a full read. There are a lot of gangsters the show has yet to explore. Here’s what Terence had to say about Boardwalk Empire season 3:With Van Alden having run off to Cicero, is he going to still be in our story? Yeah. People who are really students of Mob history will pick up on the fact that Cicero, Ill., is the place Al Capone became headquartered in 1924. So we put him in a place where he theoretically could interact with other characters on the show. So can we expect to see Al Capone come into his own as a formidable force next season? As time goes on. The plan is now is we would come back in season 3 a little further into the future and start to really track Al Capone’s rise and — God willing — through the course of the series. By 1925, Capone was the guy everybody recognizes — the guy in the white fedora who’s firmly in charge of Chicago. Hopefully we’ll be on the air long enough to see that guy. Certainly in [season 3] we’ll start to see Capone on pretty much equal footing as Johnny Torrio in terms of who’s running the town. You mentioned jumping forward in time for season 3. How long will that be? [Note: Season 2 was set in 1921] We’re thinking about 16 months and starting the [third] season around the beginning of 1923, then maybe run through the end of 1923. It was an exciting year. All the people who stockpiled liquor started to run out, so competition between bootleggers became really fierce. I can’t imagine Nucky is going to be very pleased with Margaret donating all his land to the church. I don’t think that will make anybody happy. The ramifications of that will be explored as the series progresses. And I’m assuming Richard Harrow will continue as a key player? Yes, Harrow will continue to be part of the show, absolutely. One thing that impacted me this season was the polio story line — a really heartbreaking move. It’s easy to forget nowadays what a horrible disease that was. Especially with that little girl. That actress is really so sweet. It was hard for us. My wife read that script and punched me in the arm. Steve Buscemi read the script and said he threw it across the room. We did a lot of research on the subject and it just ravaged children in this country, and adults too. It was a horrific disease. So for season 3, I hear you’re looking to add a new character, Bud Matheson, described as a young James Cagney type. Might that be Boardwalk‘s new up-and-comer? Yeah. As the ’20s progressed and became the Roaring ’20s, it was very youth-oriented culture. Young people really came into their own, with access to automobiles. They had influence on popular music and fashion trends. We really wanted to infuse the show with some exciting young sexy energy and this guy is the sort of embodiment of that new sort of go-getter who wants to grasp things with both hands. Cagney was a great prototype — the fast-talking brash young guy who wants it all and wants it now.- Boardwalk Empire
HBO.com got the chance to sit down with Nucky Thompson himself, Steve Buscemi to talk Religion, Staying Clueless, Jimmy Darmody and Nucky’s Decision-Making Skills. Here is most of the conversation but you can see the original interview at the HBO homepage. HBO You’ve been Nucky for two years now. Have you changed your approach from last season?I’ve never worked on something that went on this long. I was a character on ‘The Sopranos,’ but I only lasted a season. This is like working on an extended film that you don’t know the script to and I like it …quot; I like being surprised. I will sometimes ask Terry about something that’s going to happen in the future because it might affect the scene that I’m doing that day, but otherwise I really try not to ask too many questions. The characters don’t know; they’re living day to day. Nucky and Margaret went through a lot this year.Their relationship gets deeper because they’re living together. And Nucky certainly gets closer to her kids. That means a lot to him, and I think that does have an effect on Margaret. At the same time, the more that Margaret learns about Nucky’s world, the more troubling it is for her. They seem to fall out when it comes to religion.I don’t think Nucky is dismissive of religion. It’s just not for him. It does cause a rift because he tries to understand, but it’s not in his makeup. He doesn’t understand why people fall for it. In some ways, it’s a healthier attitude. Nucky does have a lot of problems, and he’s under pressure and stress. But guilt doesn’t seem to be one of them. He does the things he does because he feels like in some way, it’s the right thing to do. Or that he has no choice. So he really doesn’t lose sleep over these decisions and actions. Speaking of, can you discuss Jimmy’s final scene?I like Michael Pitt. You hate to see somebody like that leave the show. Having to do a scene like that, where I am killing another actor who I like …quot; and then on top of that, my character is the reason that he’s leaving… It’s one of the times where I called Terry and Tim Van Patten and said, “We have to talk about this.” Terry really had to remind me who Nucky is, and why he can’t let this go, no matter how much Nucky loves Jimmy. The guy that he is cannot let this stand. I asked about each line and each beat of the scene because I just wanted to make sure I fully understood it.It’s a huge moment for Nucky. I don’t think it came easy for him. He would have preferred things going a different way. A better way. But as he says in the scene to Jimmy, the choice was his. Jimmy brought them to this. What’s the best part of being Nucky? It feels like he’s a character that’s going to be around a while. It’s more than the power that he enjoys. He’s a force. He’s right in the thick of things. That’s what I really like: He’s obviously so important to this story. And he’s a fun character to play, and to be in his shoes. In his very expensive shoes. HBOWatch: Nothing on Boardwalk Empire Season 3 this time but hopefully we’ll get more information once it’s actually been written. Boardwalk Empire season 3 will premiere Fall 2012. We’ll keep you updated with all of the latest as we get it.- Boardwalk Empire
According to several reports around the web, actress Paz de la Huerta will not be a part of Boardwalk Empire season 3. HBO has decided not to renew her contract and we won’t speculate as to the reasons. This could possibly be because of creative differences but it could also just mean that the show is moving away from her character who was playing less of an important role as season two went on.Either way we’ve enjoyed her on Boardwalk Empire and we’re sorry we won’t be seeing her again. This doesn’t completely rule out her possibly return in season 4 or beyond (or a surprise appearance at the end of season 3) but we wouldn’t bet the boardwalk on it. Many characters will be leaving the show for this new season with many new ones taking the stage.- Boardwalk Empire
Nina Dobrev Turned Down Boardwalk Empire Role due to of Potential Nudity, Sex Scenes If only Boardwalk Empire had been released two years later it may have featured a nude Nina Dobrev. In a recent interview? the actress reveals that the then 21 year old actress turned down a role on the HBO program because she wasn’t then comfortable with the sex scenes that would be required of her. A completely understandable situation for an acrress so young but we’re sure Vampire Diaries fans all over the world are reeling at the missed prospect.A couple of years have passed at this point and the now 23 year old actress says that she would actually be up for a role that required her to get naked providing the part were tasteful and appropriate for the role. Nina! HBO is the home of tasteful and appropriate nudity! Terrance Winter needs to give Nina a call as soon as possible as far as we’re concerned- Boardwalk Empire
HBO Renews Boardwalk Empire for Third Season! HBO has just announced that they will be renewing Boardwalk Empire for a third season next year! Here is the official press release: LOS ANGELES, Oct. 12, 2011 – Following resounding critical approval for the series’ second-season debut on Sept. 25, HBO has renewed BOARDWALK EMPIRE for a third season, it was announced today by Michael Lombardo, president, HBO Programming. “Following a triumphant first season, I was eager to see what Terry Winter, Martin Scorsese and the rest of their stellar team had in store, and they continue to surpass our highest expectations,” said Lombardo. “The response from the media and our viewers has been extremely gratifying.” From Terence Winter, Emmy® Award-winning writer of “The Sopranos” and Academy Award®-winning director Martin Scorsese, BOARDWALK EMPIRE is set in the 1920s in the early days of Prohibition, and chronicles the life and times of Enoch “Nucky” Thompson, the undisputed leader of Atlantic City, who was equal parts politician and gangster. The renewal of BOARDWALK EMPIRE is the latest in a number of recent drama series pickups, following “True Blood,” “Game of Thrones” and “Treme,” as well as commitments to the new series “Luck,” “Veep,” “Girls,” “Life’s Too Short” and Aaron Sorkin’s as-yet untitled project. Among the early critical raves for the new season of BOARDWALK EMPIRE, New York’s Daily News called the show “delicious entertainment” and “one of the best shows on television,” while Daily Variety termed it “consistently bold and lusty,” as well as “good to the last illicit, intoxicating drop.” The Boston Globe hailed BOARDWALK EMPIRE as “a must-see show” and “remarkable,” and Entertainment Weekly noted that “drama this good should be illegal.” BOARDWALK EMPIRE ranks among HBO’s most popular series with an average gross audience of 10.7 million viewers. At the recent Primetime Emmy® Awards, BOARDWALK EMPIRE led all programming with eight awards, including Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series (Martin Scorsese). In Jan. 2011, BOARDWALK EMPIRE received two Golden Globe Awards, for Best Television Series – Drama and Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Drama (Steve Buscemi) The series also received two Screen Actors Guild awards, for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series and Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series (Steve Buscemi).- Male model competition
