  20. Steeling the show! Super slick Henry Cavill shows off muscles at Comic Con - as fans get first glimpse of new Superman film By Mike Larkin July 15, 2012 It takes a certain physique to play the universe's most powerful superhero. And Henry Cavill has obviously been pumping plenty of iron to play the Man of Steel if his appearance at Comic Con today is anything to go by. The newest silver screen Superman looked in high spirits today as he arrived to address an audience of hardcore comic geeks in San Diego. And the 29-year-old English actor's toned frame surely put their minds at ease that he is the right man to permanently take over the role from the iconic Christopher Reeve. He looked incredibly fit as he strolled around in a tight white shirt, jeans and brown shoes, thanks to a gruelling two-hours per day workout regime. And the Jersey-born star received a standing ovation as he made his way onto the stage to talk about his excitement at playing arguably the most important of all superheroes. But he was not afraid to risk alienating the character's fanbase, explaining he wanted the 2013 film to appeal to a wider demographic. The actor, who is taking his interpretative inspiration from the Death of Superman series, told them: 'You guys who know everything about him. You’re there through thick and thin. 'It’s for everyone else out there as well who hasn’t quite experienced what Superman can be, hasn’t gone through comics books, hasn’t felt that world and seen how it changed. 'And with this, hopefully it can bring a modern version which everyone can associate with.' Big moment: A special teaser poster was unveiled to wild cheers Meanwhile director Zack Snyder played up the importance of his character at the expense of Batman, while simultaneously raising expectations about a possible Justice League movie, which would hope to follow in the footsteps of Marvel's Avengers. He said: 'Superman is the jewel in the DC Comics crown, and what we’re trying to do is get his house in order, and then who knows what’s possible.' However the Watchmen filmmaker also took a pop at his character, as he said: 'Superman’s always this kind of big, blue Boy Scout up on a throne, that nobody can really touch him.' Dynamic duo: The actor was joined by director Zack Snyder for the presentation Controversial: Zack risked the wrath of comic geeks after he proclaimed Superman is more important than Batman Instead, he seems to be trying to make a grittier and more adult version of Superman, much like the the approach the film's producer and writer Christopher Nolan adopted for his take on Batman. The first footage from Snyder's film was broadcast at Comic Con today, reportedly showing a bearded Cavill. Fans also got a glimpse of co-star and leading lady Amy Adams as Lois Lane, along with Russell Crowe as Jor-El, Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent and Michael Shannon as rumored villain General Zod. Caping it real: This version of Superman will be grittier than Christopher Reeve's

http://www.usmagazine.com David Giuntoli: 5 Things You Don"t Know About Grimm's Star By Allison Corneau August 13, 2012 Get ready, Grimm fans! NBC's hit drama inspired by the classic Grimm Brothers' Fairy Tales returns for its second season August 13, and before the new episodes air, Us Weekly gets to know Grimm's leading man, David Giuntoli, who appears as Portland Homicide Detective Nick Burkhardt. 1. Haven't yet gotten hooked on Grimm? If Giuntoli still looks familiar, you may have seen him before. Discovered by MTV while in a bar, the Indiana University grad toured the South Pacific for three months as part of the network's 2003 Road Rules installment, and won the Real World/Road Rules Challenge: The Gauntlet. 2. Just because he's an MTV reality show alum doesn't mean Giuntoli's down with the Jersey Shore gang or makes Teen Mom must-see TV. "I wouldn't say that I was ever a fan of MTV. I was a guy on MTV," he reasons. Instead, he prefers Downton Abbey. "I'm in different ways of love with every person on that cast, from the cook to the sisters to everybody," Giuntoli tells Glamour 3. Originally studying finance in college, Giuntoli changed his career path after working with MTV and moved to L.A. in 2007 to pursue acting. Studying under Christopher Fields and working with the Echo Theater Company, Giuntoli landed roles in shows including Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice and Privileged before appearing on Grimm. 4. He's not a fan of fairy tales. "To be honest, I never really read them. I wasn't well-acquainted with them beyond the sanitized Disney versions that we've come to know," the actor admits to the Huffington Post. "But I've always been a fan of getting scared, and I think Grimm is a show where you have a bit of humor, some crime-solving and an added element of fear. You'll definitely go to bed scared." 5. He has a habit of having unique Hollywood moments. "I went to trivia night with David Cross, and I idolize him," the actor told Glamour. "It was just the two of us on a team."
