It all seems rather convenient to me. Blatter's relationship with a much younger woman who just happens to be the ex of one of the most high-profile players. Everything about it reeks of being a manufactured story.

El Mundo Deportivo is the mouth piece of FC Barcelona, who are bitter rivals to the club her ex plays for. So it's not too hard to see what is happening here. Having said that, there is no doubt in my mind that the pervy old creep Blatter has gotten it on with models like Irina in the not too distant past. Though I very much doubt that Irina was actually one of them.

One of the explanations put forth by FIFA the other day, that a ten million bung to the Caribbean Football Union was solely authorised by a man who is now deceased and no-one else was remotely aware of it, was pretty hilarious. Case dismissed, m'lud? That was disgusting, but also reminded me of a practice that was apparently common during the Vietnam war, in which whenever a helicopter went down, the Quartermaster corps would use the opportunity to attribute all sorts of missing/stolen ordinance to the lost chopper. Sometimes to absurd amounts. Three to four times what would be conceivable.

But it would be a start, as would these so-called 'integrity checks' being done by someone other than FIFA themselves. It wouldn't surprise me if we eventually saw Blatter in a role similar to the one Joao Havelange was given years ago, with a sizeable expense account and continued influence. If we're not careful, the hydra will just grow a new head. The problem for Blatter is that this is a RICO case. This is not going to go away. I suspect Blatter might end up running into Putin's arms and live out the rest of his years under the protective arms of the Russian bear.

Yeah, the notion that Taylor need anyone's help in promoting her image or music is ludicrous. Taylor has 58 M twitter followers. Gigi has 386K. Appearing in a Taylor Swift video gives Gigi a huge exposure that she could not dream of achieving on her own. By contrast, Taylor's video would not be any more or less popular with or without Gigi's inclusioin.

We need more than just Blatter gone to reform FIFA. They would probably need to revise the whole presentation model (part of the problem is the one federation - one vote structure).

Apart from Rachelle, this has been a very uninspiring bunch so far.

I think this season is by far the worst so far. The first four episodes were passable (though nothing especially memorable), but the last two were perhaps the worst in the entire run. Whether or not this is because they have started really deviating from the books (and in some story-lines are now in completely uncharted territory), I don't know.
