After Madame Tussauds, Shah Rukh's wax statue in Paris

Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan has more reason to smile - he will have a second wax look alike coming up in the West, this time in France.

Barely a year after his wax statue was unveiled at Madame Tussauds, London, Paris's Grevin wax museum will present King Khan's wax statue next month.

This will make Shah Rukh the second Indian celebrity after Mahatma Gandhi to have a wax statue in Grevin and the first Bollywood star to have two wax statues in the two most prestigious wax museums worldwide.

Stating this in Mumbai Friday, Grevin's marketing director Frederic Gouguidis said that this was the outcome of its exclusive partnership with the travel major, Cox and Kings, in the Indian market.

Khan is extremely popular in France with a huge fan following and the wax statue would give Indians another reason to travel to that country, he added.

Paris Convention & Visitors Bureau managing director Paul Roll said that Paris is a hot destination among Indian tourists. "Last year, over 300,000 Indians visited France, the second largest number after China," Roll said.

A 19th century French journalist Arthur Meyer conceived Grevin's wax museum. He collaborated with Alfred Grevin, a cartoonist, sculptor and costume designer to work on the project.

When the wax museum doors were finally thrown open to the public in June 1882, it was a grand success.

Some of the wax statues in the Grevin collection include Mahatma Gandhi, Albert Einstein, Pope John Paul-II, Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson.

Summer is still not here - Shah Rukh Khan

No summer vacation for Shah Rukh Khan this year. He is up to his eyebrows with work and Gauri and kids will have to wait. His schedule is choc-a-bloc with his TV show Paanchvi Pass, films like Billoo Barber, IPL, etc.

Normally SRK makes it a point to take a month-and-a-half off during his kids' summer break and head to London where he spends quality time with Aryan and Suhana. When SRK is on holiday, there's no extraneous factor that can disturb him. He says, "At that time it's just my family and me. I don't take anyone's calls… I am not in touch with anyone at that time. It's only about my kids and me. But right now there is too much going on for me to take my break."

A source close to the superstar says that SRK won't be taking his annual 40-day break "There is so much going on. We have finished the bulk of Billoo Barber and now he is working on Paanchvi Pass. Then in a fortnight, Adi's film Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi will begin. Also three days of shooting for Billoo Barber are left for which he will be going down South. After that he comes back to Paanchvi Pass. That wraps up by the end of May."

"Most of the filming for Rab ne Bana Di Jodi will happen in Mumbai and a few in the North, with IPL going on side-by-side. And therefore he is taking the kids with him for the different matches." What better way to spend quality time with kids!

Khan is known to be very close to his kids and allows them on his sets too, and it won't be any different during the summer break. Last year Khan spent a month in London where he took his kids to see his wax statue at Madame Tussauds. A friend who accompanied them last year says, "The two kids were so proud to see their daddy there. I think he actually enjoyed his statue once he saw that look in their eyes."

When Khan was invited to Warwick Castle to open its latest attraction, he lugged his family there too. So, from landing on the castle grounds in a helicopter to a sword slashing red carpet ribbon-cutting ceremony, flanked by fully armoured medieval bodyguard, the kids were in for a real treat. But that was just the start of the fun for SRK. After the inauguration Khan went for a private visit of the Castle with his family.
