Expresso
"Gelukkig nieuwjaar!" in dutch I haven't seen it posted in German, so I'll put that up too: "einen guten Rutsch! (ins Neujahr)" or "Frohes Neujahr!" And making fun of the french, doesn't everyone do that? *dives behind a bush in an attempt to avoid any big, sharp objects*

CarMELita
I haven't seen it posted in German, so I'll put that up too:"einen guten Rutsch! (ins Neujahr)" or "Frohes Neujahr!" You can also say: "Frohes neues Jahr" or "Ich wuensche/Wir wuenschen einen guten Rutsch ins neue Jahr" We either use new (neu) as adjective to describe the year (a new one ) or we use "Neujahr" as subject, would be like Christmas Eve, I guess. You don't use Eve as an abbreviation in general.
